yMcy56:I remembered some weeks ago when educo was recommending those banks and said their earnings can never declined, we told him, market work in cycles, any company can Bleep up any time, emotions in this game is suicidal. Stay glued to your numbers with Nigerian banks, just when you thought you are about to enjoy goodies they will dilute you or do unnecessary acquisition or declare big bad debt without naming the people that collected the debt which we all know are insiders. He who want chop with devil must have a long spoon. ![]() We are waiting for jijo Sha if opportunity show. ![]() I don join agba boys on banking stocks, especially, fugaz.. ![]() Game na game in mega voice. ![]() |

So bank results for H1 is bad in some people eyes.I guess u expected the banks to perform miracle with the new OS. Or u expected them to print naira. Are this banks not in the Nigerian economic space. U didn't thank God they didn't declare loss with this bad government when many SME which are thr customers are closing shop. Is it not Nigerians facing hunger and poverty that this banks make money by rendering services and products. If u are a business man u will know how ur turnover that use to hit this banks have significantly dropped. The banks made money last Yr the government cornered it and insisted they must raise new funds not minding the dilution it could cause for bank. The bank results is a reflection of the Nigerian economy. The loss in some bank will reverse next week because thr results are very ok.infact I was expecting dividend only from zenith, gtb and stanbic |

Streetinvestor2:The banks are really trying to be honest. Most of the profits they made in 2023 and 2024 were to an extent due to devaluation but no devaluation between 2024 and 2025 with same CRR of 50% and other conditions, but they are still making profits. |

currentprice:Today's market movement is not surprising, the "TA" had already provided insight into what to expect when the banks start releasing their H1 results as quoted above... most banks have broken key support levels and ready for further declines. The Q2 number/dividend release so far is simply confirms a trend that already started . now is time to start spreading the numbers on the bedsheet and patiently waiting... for the right time to make d kill . we are making cool money this year ![]() cash is king ![]() |

GeneralDae:I am not sure Cardoso allowed them to recognize the revaluation gains as profit in their YE 2024. I stand to be corrected. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:17am On Sep 20, 2025 |
ppogba:Why not? If the fair Value of their assets have changed, why not? Anyways gains from about $5bn of the holdings were actually realized, cos CBN forced this 0% long NOP policy that forced them to sell. If GTCO held $1bn valued at 460bn in 2023, and they were forced to sell in February 2024 at 1600 for N 1.6trn in proceeds, why would CBN say they haven't made N1.14trn in gains? I think what CBN might do is limit how much dividends is paid from such gains or whatever, but i don't see why they would basically ask them to lie by not recognizing the gains. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:23am On Sep 20, 2025 |
@GeneralDae, True FX gains were huge contributors in 2024. Now beyond 2024, that shift in currency value has also translated to gross assets doubling or tripping for some of the banks in the past 2 years. So if Access has 13trn to work with in 2023, now that their assets have grown to near 40trn, it's easier to make more money. My point is the effect of the FX isn't just the one off gains, it's also translated to higher asset base, so if they maintain the same average ROAE or even a lower ROAE, they'll still be making so much cos the A has ballooned. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 8:39am On Sep 20, 2025 |
awesomeJ:True and once this whole forbearance issue is put behind us (for the most part) we would have fundamentally stronger banks. I also think this recapitalisation process that has occurred side by side the devaluation, would yield more pros than cons for the Banks. |
