Lol In this country, after a long while, people with some villainy attitude can revise history and even whitewash themselves. IBB did it, they did for Buhari after his death and here is OBJ doing it. |

VOsimhen144:1. President Yaradua was not the greatest President. That is fantasy. He was barely in office 3 years and sick for a significant part of it 2. One of the first things he did was remove Nuhu Ribadu in very ridiculous circumstances maybe you are old enough to remember 3. What exactly did he achieve that makes him great 4 . You say Nigerians loved him? How why? I did not know him and did not love him . I sympathise that he was ill and died but he knew he had health issues and still accepted to run. That showed poor judgment and selfishness. He also failed to hand over properly to Jonathan creating a constitutional crisis. That crisis is his legacy 5. He knew the election was brazenly rigged to put him in office and still accepted the outcome 6. He appointed Rilwann Lukman as oil minister and perpetrated northern domination at NNPC along with the same nepotism in the military 7. How did he reduce prices? By what magic?. I do not recall that 8.. He left Ibori untouched after removing Ribadu and we had to suffer the national embarrassment of having Ibori go to prison in a foreign country 9. Many people like to romanticise Yar’Adua but there is no basis and no justification with evidence |

seunmsg:My boy, everybody including the activists you mentioned all had their ambitions for stopping the third term, so you can't simply single out Atiku just because you hate him by claiming he joined the bandwagon because he wanted to be president. Are you also stating that Tinubu was just being a father Christmas by joining the bandwagon without having his own ambitions? Now, let me clarify to you. I don't know how old you were during that era, but am correcting you as an insider, a long term PDP member of over 20 years and a 1term member of house of rep under PDP, that Atiku was at the forefront of the opposition to Obasanjo's third term agenda. He was the face behind the whole movement, that was why Obasanjo singled him out for vengeance and has never forgiven him till this day. Please let's do proper research and be sure of statements and opinions we post online, so as not to lead the young ones astray Be guided. |

Nigerian politicians have a worrying penchant for history revisionism .I was writing my SSCE between 2006 and '07 when Obasanjo attempted to secure a third term using the instrument of the Senate, but not for the fierce resistance by well-meaning Nigerians, spearheaded by the likes of Ken Nnamani, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, Muhammadu Buhari, et al. In actual fact, Obasanjo's ambition which he thought to achieve by bribing lawmakers with ghana-must-go bags of dollars was the first outright and blatant dollarization of our political space, which subsequently became a habit for our ruling class. I love and respect the man because he's easily on the list of top three efficient Presidents we've had as a country, but rather than seek to insult our sensibilities with bare-faced lies, he could simply admit to have nursed the ambition and then bowed to the opposition of the Nigerian citizenry. It will earn him more respect than this samba dance of denial he keeps doing. |

VOsimhen144:You're a liar and trying to mislead people, he did his best and left power without plan to come back as you claimed, he only supports Yar'Adua because of the way he managed His State Fund as a Governor, also his name was not on EFCC records. This is the reason he supported Yar'Adua. He rejected some other names because of corruption. If what you said is true, Obasanjo privatized refineries before he left power and Yar'Adua reverse the decision! What does that tells you? |

Baba Obasanjo, stop this lies and confess your sins. We were not kids when you were running the country like the only saviour sent to Nigeria and Nigerians. Baba, confess all the killings during your time. Harry Marshall was killed just right there at Area 10 behind police headquarters and nothing happened. Many political assassination took place during and under your watch and nothing happened and nobody prosecuted. Bola ige went the same way. Be praying for forgiveness. On your 3rd term, we were not kids when you were lobbying for it but many factors worked against you. The national assembly members failed to do your bidding of amendment to the constitution. Baba iyabo I just came back from church and I don't have luxury of time on your matter. Imagine Obasanjo saying that some people think if they're not there, things would not go well. He doesn't know that he was actually referring to himself. A man who doesn't see anything good about others except himself. He stopped attending Jonathan's Council of State meetings, he did same to Buhari and he's doing same to Tinubu now. He wouldn't attend meeting but would go about talking trash at every occasion he sees cameramen. A greedy self centered thief who converted operation feed the nation project to Obasanjo farm. Converted Presidential Library in Abeokuta to Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library. Ole! So, Nigeria and Nigerians refused you and your 3rd term Agenda. There's no way you would have gotten it Baba. |

VOsimhen144:you are a baby in following politics for calling Atiku a boy to Obj. Atiku was mentored by the later elder yaradua not the president but the offer vice to Obasanjo as military president. Atiku later stepped down for Abiola in sdp primaries on request of the older yaradua. |

I thought age will have taken this entitled and covetous behaviour from him.im surprised he's saying this as an elder stateman when at this age he should be making peace with everyone he has offended starting from God, his family members and Nigerians. Baba this is the age you should be doing restitution. God is giving you time to dot all I and cross all this is not a ti.e to be lusting after 3rd term and you know it.nkan tibaje jina and thank God you're seeing the consequences of all of your decisions as a former president with your eyes and ears.everything that makes a man to be called a successful man nationally and internationally God has given you the empowerment to achieve it.youre ,father, grandfather, great grandfather, elder stateman, twice a President, you have a conglomerate of Buisnesses and hotels raking in millions and billions, you have several wives and successful children. DrAkpa:If you’re truly who you claim you are, then you really need to stop lying. Atiku was never the face of the anti third term movement of the Obasanjo era. A lot of people including Ken Nnamani, Adeleke Mamora, Bola Tinubu, Mohammadu Buhari etc were all at the forefront of the opposition to the third term movement. The day it was to be voted upon, Buhari personally attended the Senate session and sat in the gallery. So, how is Atiku the face of the movement? Again, Atiku and Obasanjo already fell out long long before the third term issue came up. Obasanjo already made up his mind to ensure Atiku did not succeed him after the PDP convention of 2003 where Atiku made Obasanjo to beg before he could get the ticket. In fact, Atiku plotted with the likes of DSP Alamaseigha to float what they termed “The Mandela Option” for Obasanjo in 2003. Obasanjo saw Atiku’s desperation for power and started dealing with him immediately after they were sworn in for second term. |

we had segun osoba, lam adeshina also in AD then. It wasnt only tinubu. Atiku did not stop him, well meaning Nigerians from all parts of the country stopped him. Every single pro- democracy activists worked against the third term ambition. Atiku simply joined the bandwagon because he wanted to become president in 2007. Bola Tinubu, the only AD governor as at that time mobilized all opposition lawmakers to vote against the bill. The day the bill was to be put to vote, then General Mohammadu Buhari was personally at the gallery of the Senate chamber to ensure that constitutional amendment supporting third term was never passed into law.[/quote] |

Not a scholar. No contribution to academics or research. No invention or innovation. No career in the private sector. Not a founder or employer of labor. And even more importantly, no lasting legacy as a former president of the most populous black nation on earth. Imagine a life where everything you are and will forever be, is tied to what a badly put together contraption gave you on a platter. Hence, I can't blame him for the boldface lies and show of arrogance. Him and his goons including Muritala, Gowon, Babangida, Buhari, and Abacha are only relevant in Nigeria. |

With due respect, Chief Obasanjo, the facts of history contradict your claim. The third term project was not a rumour — it was a real constitutional amendment pushed in 2005–2006, with your closest allies in PDP lobbying hard for it and lawmakers openly alleging huge financial inducements. Governors like Peter Odili and James Ibori were mobilized in support, while others like Rashidi Ladoja and Ayo Fayose resisted and paid political prices. Even your Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has said you personally raised the matter with him. It was, in truth, the hand of Esau but the voice of Jacob. You might not have directly come out to say you wanted third term, but proxies were clearly commissioned for the execution. Where did the huge sums allegedly offered to lawmakers as bribes come from? Were those the personal fortunes of your allies, or funds diverted from the national purse? Such staggering inducements could hardly have been raised outside the resources of the state itself. If it were true that you “could have gotten it,” then Nigerians would not have witnessed the fierce lobbying, the bribery scandals, and the eventual dramatic defeat in the Senate on May 16, 2006. What stopped it was not lack of power on your part, but the collective resistance of Nigerians who refused to let the constitution be bent. The record is clear: the third term bid was real, and it failed — not because you didn’t want it, but because the people rejected it. Stop to shalaye this issue at every available opportunity, it won't change or correct anything. Infact, your attempt to shalaye will continue to reduce the little respect you got. And understand that you won't have gotten any respect out of office if your successors have attempted to build their names in gold. You would have been long forgottten. So, stop feeling funky. |

Osanebinosike:The third term campaign started sometimes around 2005 when Obasanjo set up a charade of a constitutional conference termed “National Political Reform Conference” under the chairmanship of Justice Nikky Tobi. Osoba and Lam Adesina were no longer in office as at that having lost the 2003 election to Gbenga Daniel and Ladoja respectively. |
