leo1234:OK.. but it won't be instant at Least unless he was confident selling out instant 15% yield on next dividend @100. Then you are probably right to call him out. We all know the ₦7 final dividend this year was all for the recap exercise:. -Boost share price -reduce issued OS.. Obviously not sustainable in the long run at least. But they will get there organically with time. |

chimex38:Hopefully 😊. Although they have lots of maturities in Q4 2025 especially a Eurobond maturity payment. |

GeneralDae:Lol, 50 bps is just a 0.5% cut in the MPR. Let’s save the celebration for when the MPR gets to 20%. |

ositadima1:have you looked at the Asymmetric corridor?. that is where the headline lies |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 3:11pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
Same argument as before: the MPR was below 20% for years before this administration came in and pushed it to 27.5%. Now they’ve reduced it by just 0.5%—not even up to 1%—and some people are jubilating. It’s almost as if General is Cardoso’s brother. ![]() |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by olig(m): 3:16pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
Na so o! That is how they jubilate for the naira appreciating a bit. My question is, who pushed it to the roof? Also, they don't want anyone to criticise them when things go wrong, but they want everyone to jubilate for their negligible and sometimes mirage achievements. ositadima1: |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 3:18pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
ositadima1:Thank you my brother. This shows how some of us celebrate mediocrity in this country. Somebody took dollar exchange rate from N480 to N1,550, and now some people want us to celebrate because it is now N1,490 or so. My comment is not in specific reference to General ooo, just my general observation of how some of us do. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 3:18pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
unite4real:Yeah, it says the MPR is between 29.5% and 24.5%. Banks can borrow at 29.5% while they lend to the CBN at 24.5%. So what? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 3:36pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
Bulk of GTCOs 1Trillion PBT H1-2024 came from forex unrealised gains of ₦630bn shown below. Ballooing non cash-backed EPS. So this years EPS is cash backed in comparison. They improved as much as ₦28bn(19+9) on other Fixed-income traded instruments and Forex gains from a previous loss position! That's efficiency in portfolio reallignment if you ask me.

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 3:40pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
chimex38:Yeah, this is what emotional players don’t see. Their approach is to simply look at EPS, conclude that it’s several times lower than last year, and bam—label it poor—without looking any deeper. Anyway, let them drag it down; that’s allowed. ![]() |

You want to wonder how some enlightened guys argue on issues of public interest. Don't we all know that the rise of dollar/naira exchange rate from #480 to over #1700, now #1490 was as a result of the much hyped deregulation or liberalization of the foreign exchange market? And that was the real value of the naira then, without borrowing billions of dollars to shore it up. Have we forgotten that in a hurry? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 4:12pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
Toluway:How did u arrive at the real value of naira to dollars if the street price than was the real value to me because that one was not being subsidized. That is the 700 plus. The present 1500 is as a result of failed governance and never the real price to me.even as subsidy is removed. The aboki selling 700 plus was not getting it from government then so it was not subsidized |

olig:It can be made to reflect on your trading account. At least I have done 2 this year with the same Morgan. Afriprud and same Oando bonuses are now part the shares on my trading account after I mailed them and they added it. Maybe you did not write to any of Morgan's functional e-mail address. Go to their last mail sent to you and pick all the addresses there. Write to their customers service and copy all other emails you know that's related to them. |

We are quick to say the bank results are bad .I will never say such in this economy. Have we asked this government what it did with 70% it twisted this banks neck to collect from thr forex gain. That was shareholders money which could have given us good special dividend. Or the banks would have used it to shore up thr capital base without the dilution happening in the OS.You should all be happy/lucky these banks are not even declaring wonderful loss. Do u know the amount of that 70% from the forex gain. The government just looted our money while we still suffer as shareholders in companies that had forex loss outside the banking sector. And u are quick to come here to tell us to celebrate rubbish. Like is not enough they moved CGT from 10,% to 24% so that they can loot more from shareholders. And they are sending that man in suit to come talk rubbish on ngx as enlightenment. |

Streetinvestor2:The aboki selling at 700 was getting it from Government indirectly because the market is interconnected. Emiefele releases dollars to banks and sets his own rate by not allowing it get above a certain band say 450/460. The banks cooperate with the abokis by offloading the dollars to them via round tripping to get their own cuts. The Aboki market becomes the main market indirectly funded by the official market and other sources. When you remove the peg from the official market and the indirect funding is cut off, there is a tendency for the black market to shoot up further showing there’s scarcity. Take the usual fuel scarcity for instance. Many of the black market sellers still get fuel mainly from the filling stations in times of scarcity to sell higher. If filling stations increase their prices to match that of the black market, that of the black market would go up again until real supply comes into the market (filling stations). The black market would keep going up in times of scarcity, because at that point, the filling stations (official market) alone cannot satisfy everyone. The black market was only meant for villages initially and they source from anywhere but majorly filling stations. But now there is scarcity at filling stations and black market is expected to satisfy more people than they did previously so their prices would be inflated. Filling stations then increase their prices so the market doesn’t drain them off the little they have. Then those who still queued at filling stations to get fuel because it’s cheaper, finally give up and all go to the black market. This puts more pressure on the black market and their prices gets hiked again away from that new price of filling stations and it goes on and on and on until supply comes. |

leo1234:lol, there are two ways to achieve 15% na. 1) Pay higher dividend based on current price 2) Bring the price down to where 15% is achievable. But on a more serious note, the dividend was disappointing but the result is understandable as we all knew the FX gains was a strong booster last year. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by guyzgirl(m): 6:11pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
mikeapollo:I see the cut, which is small but reasonable, as they have to manage the easing. But what I find more hampering is the new 75% CRR on government deposits, that is really going to squeeze banks and impact their willingness to cut rates as well. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 6:21pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
guyzgirl:75% on non TSA public funds e.g MDA’s who are not part of the TSA system. The banks would rather hesitate to collect those Government funds from the MDA’s from now on which would likely drive the MDA’s towards TSA adoption. Aside that, CRR was actually reduced to 45% not increased. |

GeneralDae:So who is funding the aboki now.Has banks and cbn stopped selling to exchange guys weekly or monthly now.The only difference to me now is they are selling at high price to them and selling at the same price to everyone who wants it.Not like before whr the price to fuel importers different, politician, school fees abroad ,religious purposes etc. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 6:26pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
Streetinvestor2:There is supply now for CBN and banks which means majority of people who normally get from official sources do not have to depend on aboki. Just like we don’t have fuel scarcity at the moment, the black market guys are now more passive currently because no queues at filling stations (official channels). |

GeneralDae:So the cbn is the one determining the exchange value indirectly as they like.So how do we now say this is truly what naira should exchange or u agree 1500 is what it worth to a dollar |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 6:39pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
GeneralDae:I don’t think your comparison is correct. Unlike now, when we have fuel in abundance, dollars are still scarce. What’s really happening is that the high price has reduced demand—there’s less appetite for it because of the cost. The other argument, that floating allows the price to find its true level, also has its problems. As stock traders, we know that the price of a stock is rarely its true value; it’s either overshooting or undershooting and mostly depends on how it’s presented. So, floating may not necessarily lead to true value discovery. |
