I have a feeling that Total Energy might later exit the down stream sector and the business will be bought by MRS. MRS is Dangote's cousin and a major player in the downstream one of the few players to align with Dangote Refinery |

Nigeria’s 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery could play a crucial role in cushioning West Africa from potential supply shocks if Russia goes ahead with a proposed ban on diesel exports, Argus Media has reported. Drone strikes push Russian diesel exports to 5-Year Low. 16 of 38 plants were hit since August, cutting >1M barrels/day in capacity. Moscow is now considering a FULL ban on diesel exports after already halting gasoline sales. Domestic output still exceeds demand by 50%, but the export collapse drains revenues, strains the budget, and sparks talk of oil production cuts. |

emmanuelewumi:So how did they ''repatriate money to France'' (according to your earlier post) between 1959 to 2000 when it was owned by Western Govt of Nigeria? If you want to talk about repatriating money to France, then you have to begin the discussion from when Lafarge (a French company) acquired the company, and not when the company was operating as a Nigerian entity. |

Dangote refinery still at 550k bpd for now from a high of 610k bpd in August. |

mikeapollo:BUA bought Cement Company of Northern Nigeria in 2009 Lafarge became the core of WAPCO in 2001. Yet Lafarge is playing catch up. WAPCO used to have a core investor who was political exposed and directors and board members were chosen from representatives of Western Nigeria. The company was not efficiently managed until it was sold to Lafarge. Prior to the coming of BUA into CCNN and merger of both businesses, Lafarge was bigger. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 11:47am On Sep 25, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:All what you typed above are irrelevant to the matter in contention. I referred to your comment that Lafarge was mostly repatriating money to France in over 60 years that they had been in Nigeria instead of investing in Nigeria. And my point is, you cannot say they have been in Nigeria for 60 years because Lafarge only acquired WAPCO in 2001, which is just about 25 years ago, and they could only repatriate money from Nigeria to France after that acquisition. There was no French (Lafarge) ownership in WAPCO in 1959-2000 so they could not have repatriated money to France during that time. |

mikeapollo:In that 25 years they were bigger than CCNN, what stopped them from maintaining the lead Whereas CCNN got a new core investor 16 years ago and then rebranded to BUA cement and now bigger than Lafarge. Hope you remember the financial mistake made by Lafarge when they bought a business in South Africa which created a debt of about N100 billion |

emmanuelewumi:In summary, they did not repatriate money to France for 60 years but they did not do well compared to their peers/juniors |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 12:58pm On Sep 25, 2025 |
Panadee:They repatrated for 25 years , while other were increasing their capacities. During this period shareholders also had dividends drought |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 1:02pm On Sep 25, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:You seem not to understand when a company can be accused of repatriating money from one country to another. If a company had not invested in Nigeria, how could it be accused of repatriating money from Nigeria? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Panadee: 1:03pm On Sep 25, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:Their installed cement production capacity (and even SP) not along ago reflected their stunted growth compared to the others. |

yMcy56:If na you, would you sell?? 😁😁 Good thing is it only needs a 200k sacrifice per day to move up. Mega can easily sacrifice that. Unlike Airtel. Nobody's willing to forgo 200m. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 1:07pm On Sep 25, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:Meaning there's hope for those of us stuck with the stock 😁 Let MRS pay us 700. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 1:11pm On Sep 25, 2025 |
mikeapollo:His core point wasn't to establish when lafarge started repatriating money. That was not the substance of his argument. His point is that Lafarge(as well as some other foreign companies) preferred to repatriate profit rather to build capacity here like the locals did. The timeline of when that happened is secondary. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 1:13pm On Sep 25, 2025 |
megawealth01:Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 I thought you would need to sacrifice 200k by selling at a discount to make it close higher. But as @mcy pointed out, it's a CSCS issue that's delaying trades. |
