Good day all, Please who has a working link to enable me access my Meritrade account? The link I have no longer works and their customer service has been too lousy to respond appropriately to my request. Thank you |

I guess the FIRS expects that it is the responsibility of the Investor to keep adequate records of his/her CSCS statements, buy and sell contract notes etc to support his/her position. Exactly! So after selling the shares, how would govt distinguish or identify reinvestment from withdrawal? Once the shares are sold, the units leave your NGX/CSCS portfolio and funds are warehoused with the trading broker who may reinvest(buy other shares) or transfer cash to the investor bank account Will govt connect their IT systems to monitor when the investor reinvests (buys other shares) either through the same broker, or through the same CHN number, or when the broker transfers the proceeds of shares sold to investor's bank account? What happens if the investor uses or transfers his shares to a different trading CHN account, different broker etc[/quote] |

handsomebolanle:Isn’t it to our best interest if Dangote operates independently? Free from all these union strikes? One day PENGASSAN may have an issue because their leader was slapped or woke up on the wrong side of the bed and they may call for a nationwide strike. In that instance, having Dangote free from them means no fuel scarcity and the nation is not held to ransom. Imagine operating a 650k bpd refinery that must run 24/7 and your PENGASSAN workers go on strike for any reason, halting operations for something you know nothing about. Yet you have debts to pay and shareholders to satisfy. |

On a serious note, they should allow this guy to run the business for 5 years, pay down his debts, list the refinery on NGX and make it a public company. Then all these union guys can start. This is a business that is operational just for a year |

awesomeJ:We discussed this Dangote Refinery and PENGASSAN issue on a WhatsApp group on Sunday for over 6 hours. I was surprised that the PENGASSAN guys yabbing Dangote Refinery said they would buy Dangote Refinery shares whenever the IPO is out |

People running businesses will tell you that when you start a business, for the next 5 years and above you will be using your salary, personal funds and profits from other businesses to subsidize the new business |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 1:28pm On Sep 30, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi: ![]() similar to how their president said there won't be fuel queues cos we have enough reserves, he was referring to same Dangote's reserves. So they obviously see the value. Funny thing is all these their distractions might even delay the listing. They should allow Alhaji focus so we can start trading DANGREFINE by Q3' 26 |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 1:29pm On Sep 30, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:God bless you. They accuse Dangote of ''monopoly'', yet they want to buy shares in the same ''monopoly''. Why not buy or establish a competitor firm to challenge the so called ''monopoly''? They think they can just flex their muscles anyhow, they same way used to hold govt. to ransom in the past. |

awesomeJ:I learnt he has paid down his debt to about $4 billion. I want to believe his used his personal funds cash flow and dividends from other businesses to pay down the loan. So instead of the refinery to owe banks huge loan which might lead to a takeover based on the future wealth creation ability of the bank, the refinery will now owe the major shareholder. More like a related party loan which will have a more convenient and flexible terms |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 1:42pm On Sep 30, 2025 |
mikeapollo:Yes sir. The OS too shouldn't be too high I think, since the market doesn't rate high OS ![]() But i don't think Alhaji would list below $30bn |

emmanuelewumi:Yes sir. $3.4bn I heard, I would guess mostly to AfreximBank, which makes things better than if it were commercial lenders. |

So many egg heads on this thread are praising Dangote. It shows why Nigeria is this sick and lacking development. There's no single country that has developed where the working class has low purchasing power due to poor wages and poor working conditions. Unions are there to enforce the right of workers, especially in a capitalist environment fueled by greed and a corrupt, incompetent government. Nigeria is where it is today because 80% of the working class are underpaid and ill-treated - whether in the private sector or in the public sector. Don't let the greed of what you stand to gain by purchasing Dangote refinery shares make you turn a blind eye to the bad and greedy behaviour of the capitalist. Whatever you will gain, whatever wealth you will build, you won't have the security and peace to enjoy it in a society where majority of the working class is living from hand to mouth and engaging in unethical conducts to make ends meet. There's no hiding place for any of you. And I like the fact that the west is tightening its visa laws and making it harder for you to run there after supporting nonsense in your country. You will stay back here to enjoy the monster you all create because of greed and shortsightedness. You heard of the Arise TV lady whose life has been taken in the president's own FCT. Criminals like those who did this act are created because of the hopelessness created by greedy monopolists and capitalists who take advantage of the unemployment situation in a country to underpay workers and make them work under unfavorable conditions. There's no hiding place for anyone, innocent or not, if you continue to support a society fueled by greed and economic deprivation of majority. You won't enjoy your wealth in peace. You can not enjoy your wealth in peace in such environment. |
