Dr.'Hesjay:
no admission in naija is 100% merit....even in d u.s.

Have been following this thread starting from the first page because I have a brother who will write UTME this year. Am 300level Engineering student of OAU so am very much qualify to speak on this.

OAU has what is called the Merit list among other lists and the cutoff for the Merit is posted after the postUTME exam. If you manage to hit the Merit cutoff, am telling you that you have been ADMITTED authomatically except if you have a problem with your O'level. Ask anybody about this. If you hit OAU Merit cutoff and you are not admitted, then you are certainly below the Merit cutoff! PERIOD!

I am an 100L law student in the University of Benin. I thank God for my admission because it was not just studying allow that got me admission; prayer and faith were all involved. If you rely on your wisdom you might not be admitted but if u are lucky to be admitted your course might be changed to a lesser course e.g law to foreign language or linguistics, etc. There are many ways to get admission, the choice to take depends on you. Moreover, don't make the mistake of filling your jamb form wrongly, the choice of university and course matters. I advise you all to get necessary information before filling your jamb form. I got a lot of information from undergraduates of different universities especially from Uniben students during my jamb and post ume. Due to the assistant i was rendered,i have decided to reciprocate such assistant to you people on this thread. Nairaland helped me a lot during my time. For information about Jamb, post ume and admission process you can add me on 2go- GODSTIME570 or facebook- Obasogie Godstime Eghosa. You can also ask your question on this thread. I wish you all goodluck in your examination.

maywes: Pls is it true dat i can't choose 2 federal university as FIRST CHOICE N SECOND CHOICE?
Uniben was my 1st and 2nd choice in jamb in 2012,there is nothing wrong if u choose 1 school. One of my classmate chose Uniben as 1st choice and Unilorin as 2nd choice and she was admitted in both schools. There is no harm in it. But i won't advise u to choose any federal school as 2nd choice because most FED. Sch don't accept 2nd choice,it's just few of them like Unilorin and one or two other fed school that accept 2nd choice. But you can choose state schools as 2nd choice.

Fynestboi: I am thinkng of choosing
OAU FIRST CHOICE law and
UI 2ND CHOICE law...

Or

OAU FIRST CHOICE law and
UI 2ND CHOICE philosophy

my questn re?
1. which of d two is advisable
2. is it advisable to put oau and ui 2geda, coz so many pple kips pourng water of discouragement on me...
3. Wit dis mai waec score wuld it nt affect
English B3
literature B2
Government B3
Maths C6
Economics C6
CRS C6
Biology B3
Your waec is 100% okay but i won't advice you to choose UI as 2nd choice. There won't be any admission for u in UI even if u want 2 study yoruba.

brothers, going 4 philosophy in unilag, with eng-b3, math-c4, crk-b3, econs-c4, govt-c4, literature-d7, yoruba-c4. Am I good to go? Wat subjects should I register in Jamb?
. You might score high in jamb, pass unilag post ume and even get admission in Unilag but during clearance/screening you will be sent back home due to a flaw in ur o'level result. But Since u have maths, eng, govt and econs u can still study econs, banking & finance, accounting, biz. Admin, etc. Your combination is okay 4 dis courses. But don't go 4 any art courses,u won't be cleared during clearance. Literature is important for art courses.

yemmy i would disagree with you on this because i knw one of my friend in uniben he wrote jamb and post jamb again in 2011 and filled OAU he scored above the cut off for pharmacy but wasn't admitted also last year i mean 2012 jamb a friend of mine also scored above the cut off mark for international studies but when the first list was out she wasn't admitted. all i want to say is admission is more than just to beat the cut off u need God and other assistance if u can get it. though your own admission may be free maybe you were just lucky but that same luck may not apply to another person. come to think of it your state of origin plays a very important role in getting admission into any Nigerian university

Re: 2013/2014 Utme And Admission Process by jaryeh(m): 5:55pm On Jan 06, 2013
My advice to all, choose any school you like and prepare hard, pray hard and believe you can make it. No school is easy to enter in Nigeria, even in the whole world. It takes hardwork and God's grace to gain admission.

Just make sure you have the o'level requirement for the particular course you want to study in a particular school ,and know the required utme subject.

I must let you know that there is no school in Nigeria that does not accept second choice candidates;if and only if such a candidate has performed excellently well. But owing to my experience, UNILAG is the only school i think choosing them as second choice will be unwise, this is just because the school always has the highest number of candidate seeking admission every year.

Goodluck
Re: 2013/2014 Utme And Admission Process by jaryeh(m): 6:02pm On Jan 06, 2013
For all who want to choose UNILAG, i think you are aware of the fact that the school accepts only one seating in o'level results and nothing more. And for all forms of engineering and computer science, Further mathematics is a must.

Concerning ui takng 2nd choice is nt dat 100% i just wish they stick to d current method they re using now coz in 2011 2ndchoice and awaiting result were nt shorlist 4 pume, bt 2012 was different both 2nd choice and awaiting result were treated equally wit first choice, now its 2013 we dnt actually knw d plan ui is gng to use dat actually gves a kind of pessimistic thinkng wen it comes to THE FIRST AND D BEST........
Just wish and hope they stick to d recent way of shorlisting 4 pume coz am putng them as 2nd choice by Gods grace.
