GeneralDae:Again, what is currently attainable in similar workplaces — places like Indorama, fertilizer plants, and other factories? Don’t compare with oil companies; their pay has historically been higher because of foreign ownership and the fact that crude is sold in dollars, so production costs are also dollar-based. If you were to start such a business yourself, you’d pay what’s realistically attainable on the ground, not some emotional figure. What are bank trainees paid, for example? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 11:07am On Oct 04, 2025 |
ositadima1:How is my figure emotional? Even by industry standards that is low for a refinery when there are no additional benefits. Also, the location matters. I am not comparing them to Seplat and the likes who pay 3 million to graduate trainees ( these are upstream of course), I am comparing them to other refineries and I am saying given the expensive location (where accommodation is difficult), 400k doesn’t cut it. But 700k would be very okay. If there are added allowances and incentives then 500k minimum would do. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 11:09am On Oct 04, 2025 |
GeneralDae:From ₦700k to ₦2.5 million, you say? How have salaries in the ministries changed, did they increase by 3.5 times as you claim? I don’t think so. Salaries didn’t even double. Forget that the minimum wage increased to ₦70k, that doesn’t mean salaries doubled, let alone tripled. But if you have data to back up your 3.5x claim, I’d like to see it. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 11:18am On Oct 04, 2025 |
GeneralDae:LOL at this. My colleague who joined Aradel last year as an instrumentation engineer, with over 15 years of experience, earns about ₦3 million (though I’m not sure what he earns currently). Who told you a trainee in Seplat is earning ₦3 million? Please, let’s be factual. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 11:28am On Oct 04, 2025 |
ositadima1:This was widely reported on LinkedIn earlier this year by those in the industry after Seplat concluded their new recruitments. You can search for this yourself and disprove it here if you have other facts. This was even widely debated on Social media. Also, Seplat is bigger than Aradel. Seplat is what Aradel aspire to be in some years to come. Again, I know very well that upstream and downstream sector is different. I’m only saying Dangote can do a little bit better considering the location of the refinery. |

Agbalowomeri:I don't think that is all inclusive of other allowances. Even as terrible as it may be, why should anyone who knows his worth, be fighting to be called back. |

Agbalowomeri:Thank God u made this post.Who is to be blamed if not APC/Tinubu failed government. Let stop pretending about it.The employer is battling to survive the reality of destroyed economy/naira here too. When we talk u want to tell us it it started since nigeria independence so we should not point finger. Oga many Nigerians don't see 400k as gross earnings in a month now too |

emmanuelewumi:The union actually went overboard in the action they took against the company and the country but I don't think there is anything wrong in employee seeking a better pay/welfare from the employer. |

emmanuelewumi:Thr is a question that begs for answer in this post.It points to the fact that the salary may not be at the top but certainly above average for the services they render |

pluto09:If this man like Let him go from house to house to preach all the gospel about this new tax For me I can't wait to see him sacked by 2027 by new government. The government has not managed the resources on thr hand well therefore should not be looking for how to collect more from the citizens they have created more hunger and poverty in thr lives. I supported subsidy removal but they can't account what Nigerians have benefited from the money saved from it. They fall hand on the economy...simpl |

Someone is by all means bent at protecting Dangote even when the facts says Gross- and this person is saying excluding allowance. Thanks to the people saying the truth. Let’s agree the union went far.. it’s not difficult for you to agree that the 400k is small. Sir, I know you admire Dangote… if it’s easy to believe whatsapp group sabotage then say the truth in the midst of facts. |

Wow..!! See flexing for some jobs in the private sector ooo. Apart from maybe FIRS, CBN and NNPC. Majority of those working in Government establishments can not come close to all these figures I am seeing here at entry or even mid level self ooo. If you talk now them go say hazards but some people in the security sector being exposed to hazardous assignments and even die daily from them but if you see people amongst them earning up to 700k then they are the Ogas at the top on Level 15-16 about 20 year and above done on that Job already. No wonder things no gree balance for this country. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by handsomebolanle: 1:25pm On Oct 04, 2025 |
It’s alarming in the lever of Irrational thinking. Comparing a security with a skilled worker and the basis of comparison narrowed to hazards. lol. I Will ordinary ignore some post but mehhn… There needs to be a correction. |

handsomebolanle:U keep sounding very funny because u work in oil and gas industry. What is the hazard working in dangota refinery. Is the refinery going to explod. That is my problem with people like u.U like to feel ur profesion is so special than others. U think those security mean facing boko haram everyday jobs are not more hazardous than someone who is operating/monitoring machines. If the problem with the workers was salary. Why didn't they approach management for increase. If the management refused.Thr life is not tired to the refinery. They had the option to resign. Is thr any job that does not come with different level of harzed. I have someone with masters presently doing PhD.How much is innoson paying hin in his factory in Enugu. If he see that kind money na testimony. The is someone heading a department for production |

bjtinz:Which type of stocks? Nigeria or Global stocks. For Nigeria sticks better to go with main Stockbrokers: Bamboo/Trove and others are sub-brokers whether for local or Global stocks. For Nigeria stocks, Morgan Capital is okay. Experience with the platform is 100% positive on my side. Another one I use is United Capital, trading platform is just same as Morgan's and I will say they are good too. If it is platform for Global stocks, most Nigeria APPs are bearly manageable. GeneralDae:Where are they supposed to get the money to pay that salary you want them to pay if they are unable to generate such profit? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by unite4real: 2:30pm On Oct 04, 2025 |
Streetinvestor2:You are on point. I have always had this argument when people talk about hazard jobs. Those high end jobs have fortified safety infrastructure and yet they say it's hazardous. The ordinary okada riders and high way bus drivers jobs are more hazardous than even a pilot if you compare the rate of casualties between them. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 3:05pm On Oct 04, 2025 |
unite4real:In a refinery anything can go wrong. In NNPC then, we were provided PPE’s but only the helmet and safety shoes. We weren’t given masks but we inhaled dangerous chemicals sometimes. Also, at a time while we were all close by, someone failed to control the reactor temperature using the valve as instructed and quickly left because his shift had ended. The guys in the control room had to come out and a little more delay may have eventually led to a fire outbreak. Stuff like that happen all the time in a refinery. Most importantly, hazardous chemicals inhaled in a refinery kills slowly. The sulphur content leads to dangerous cancers over time. So a refinery job is truly highly hazardous. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by pluto09(m): 3:13pm On Oct 04, 2025 |
GeneralDae:My brother, forget those stories about hazard. It is a privilege to work in those "lucrative sectors" and not because of any extra ordinary skills or level of hazard. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 3:22pm On Oct 04, 2025 |
GeneralDae:This is not a pay problem, higher pay will not eliminate these hazards. That’s why, in the oil and gas industry, safety is a major department on its own, with HSE and QA/QC personnel playing very active roles. In fact, oil and gas is one of the safest industries in terms of accident occurrences. There are toolbox talks, risk assessments, permits to work, and many other protocols in place. ![]() |

unite4real:It is also a skill-level issue. You can conveniently replace 100K Okada Riders across Nigeria within a day, but can you replace 100 Pilots within same time frame? Top jobs attract top talents (the first-class, best of the 2:1s after rigorous employment screening process), so it is understandable that their pay range falls in the top-tier. Same thing is applicable in every other Nation/Economy. Not long ago Boeing Employees went on strike and shut down the company's operation for a better pay package. What was the final resolution? Did Boeing sack the staff? This is why I believe this Dangote Refinery issue could have been handled better. The final resolution isn't a “WIN” to Nigeria in my opinion. My final take on this topic. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 3:37pm On Oct 04, 2025 |
Potvalor:Your final take seems to be twisting the facts. Did Dangote sack his workers because they demanded higher pay? Did the Dangote workers go on strike? Please, let’s stick to the facts only. |

GeneralDae:Oga if it is about hazard in work environment. Then I can tell u from first hand experience that thr is no work environment that is as hazardous like tobacco company. U don't need to even work thr.living in the same area with the company is enough. Still what was thr salaries as workers. Then again we never had the workers whr in dispute with the refinery based on salaries That as the refinery refuse to deal, they decided to approach to join Union. to interven .If salaries was problem why didn't the union bring up salaries adjustment in the negation for taking them back To me the salary being brought here is just away to give a dog a name to hang it.All I hear is alhaji pays his workers well than many private sector. The refinery is what I cannot say yet.I believe he is paying above average Is it not some kpakus company converting salaries to equity because they could no pay..lol When did this company really started production with still debt hanging on its neck |

freeman67:Which hazard can be more than being a soldier in theatres of war in the north east? Yet how much are those front line soldiers paid? 200k or less? Yet some politician without conscience will steal billions, and worse stash it completely idly in a foreign land. Abi they'll be willing to negotiate paying billions to terrorists. In my opinion, any soldier who goes to the theatre of war in any given month should never be paid less than 1m. Others who weren't deployed can be at 200k or so. So let their salaries be 200k, but every time they go to a battle field, they should get at least 500k in battle hazard allowance. But like you said, life nor balance. Cos all these oil workers shouting hazards, which hazard is an accountant in Chevron office in Lekki facing, yet they pocket 12m in regular salaries, excluding bonuses. |
