The funny thing is it's the same with other animals. Funny how the lionesses give in to mating when it is going to favour her that moment -protection of herself and her cubs, and also her hunting territory. She doesn't give in to mating if she senses that the Lion doesn't have this to offer. I was surprised to learn that after she's achieved this - her cubs have matured enough to protect themselves, she would then chase the Lion away to establish a kingdom for her cubs. Lol.
