You want to compare how SLS or Peterside criticize the government to how some people do it here.
For the record, SLS has acknowledged that Tinubu did well by removing fuel subsidy and floating the naira. That is not the same with people who will tell you that the president has not gotten anything right since he came to power.
SLS has always said the subsidy was not sustainable,
But he also recently described the govt (CBN and Finance Ministry) as being at a loss and confused on what to do to fix the economy. That to me, is cluelessness.
His recent remarks was more of a diplomatic stunt to mellow tension in order not to appear as being too critical of the govt and soften grounds because of the current crisis and battle for the Emir of Kano with Ado Bayero.

Hmmm.

IF Alhaji really does not list on the LSE, does it mean he doesn't really know the bolded?

Don't underestimate the facilities/foresight these moneybags have at their disposal...
mikeapollo:
I think Atedo is too experienced and too informed to convert his forex to Naira

The bolded above means Atedo is not converting his forex to Naira.
He would not sell his forex because he knows the dollar will outstrip the naira once again in the near future

Make he just dey chop his dividends and other investment income.

Do you think he has the gut to join resources with others to now build another refinery in Rivers State or start a business that will create jobs for the people in his village.

Compared to the Rabiu, Dangote, Elumelu and see opportunities
I am getting scared by the way you make definite statements about people's businesses and investments.
I need to be careful, I may be discussing with a clairvoyant being! You fit be God ooo, walahi

Initial plan was to list Dangote Refinery shares on London Stock Exchange, but now he thinks it make Investment sense to list on NGX.

Why?

Because he is betting on the fact that Naira is currently undervalued and N1000 to $1 is possible soon

I think Alhaji is more Nigeria-centric. His focus is to enrich and develop his businesses focusing on Nigeria, and to some extent, Africa.

Again, Alhaji is already exporting the refined products to earn dollars. Hence, the dollar outstripping Naira will be to his benefit.
When converted to naira, it yields more revenue and potential profits to be shared amongst shareholders when listed on NGX.

If he lists on LSE, he would have to pay dividends etc. in GBP or EUR, which does not give the same advantage because those currencies are equally strong or relatively stronger than the USD.

That is the problem with people like u who only believe because it is Tinubu. When he says jump. All u ask is how high.
It is on this forum that I supported those two moves. I equally said in as much as I never voted. That we will live with it because I believed nobody will be as bad as Buhari when it comes to economy management.
And I now see he has failed more in that aspect. How has the money saved from such two policies materialised to a better life for more Nigerians. All I see is looting of such money via bloated contracts and unnecessary projects since then.
And we should just do praise singing of his government because he did two right thing. And failed to channel the proceeds to sectors that is suppose to benefit larger population.
Did we tell u the government can not subsidize education and health sector instead on private jet , vip house ,bloated costal high way when existing roads are death traps.
I will repeat I supported the two policies but the gains are being looted at the cost of making more Nigerians live in hunger and poverty. The gains are being wasted by different means
I am not part of the blind followers .How many of the cng buses are on the road after 2 yrs.Is loan for under graduate to pay sch fees necessary when the government can afford to subsidize the sector. Our good hands in the health sector are all japa to other country
Then to rub salt on injury he wants to come collect 25/30 % from people sweat while providing nothing so that they will have more to loot.

Okay, I don't want to use the dollar any longer.
Now I want to use the purchasing power parity in naira terms.
Prices of goods and services have tripled between May 2023 and now. You can use the cost of cars, building materials, land, houses etc. as a guide.
The N250m naira today would not be to buy what N150m would buy pre 2023!
What about that?
Can you explain how to end the increasingly unaffordable fuel subsidy, subsidy on currency exchange rate for the connected, electricity subsidy that is still racking up debts, without retail prices of these items increasing, rebalancing and finding their true value,

It's very easy to share impractical theories

We are now a net exporter compared to what was obtainable 2 years ago.

Interest rates can only reduce when we arrest inflation.

I have gotten interest rates at 18% in the country in the past

Reason why I believe for anybody to make money, one should only Invest in stocks with Return on Equity of over 203. Although I am for 30% and above.

If your business does not have the competitive advantage of coping in a business environment of 30% interest rate.

Don't you think is better for the person to kuku invest in big companies on NGX.

Some investors make more money from NGX than from their small businesses
It is easier said because u are not into trading business. Will ngx provide daily income to the person who depends on such income to pay bills

You see all of u supporting this failed government in managing the economy will definitely cry too.If u are looking closely at what is happening with the release of results.
That u praise singing about this government based on ngx will start to be wailing soon.
It is not only about ASI.The good results is not making impacts on SP of stock instead it is going down after few days up.
Very soon u won't see jijo to do because of stupid policies on ngx and propaganda on economic growth.
Then this thread won't be more than 1 or 2 thread for a day.It is no longer far

Why should one stress himself when you know the return on your investment can't service interest rate of 30%.

The best bet is to trade with the fund you have, if you need more capital then do a joint venture in order to derive the benefits of economies of scale

Better still buy stocks on NGX that can give you economic profit or Economic Value Advantage
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 3:53pm On Oct 28, 2025
U happen to be on ngx and making paper profit while majority of small/medium businesses are closing shop because of bad economy. U ser ur self as being smart.
The signs are already present itself on ngx if u have eyes
The poverty they are sharing is about to go round

That is because u know what stocks mean and know that ngx exist. Go tell our larger population which are in local/remote places doing business. Or many illiterates which dominate our market or even civil servants

I did not campaign to become president! I did not say ''Emi L'okan'' but these are some common sense approach to adopt:

1. could have avoided making such reckless statement like ''subsidy is gone whether you like it or not'' at the inauguration ground when there was no cabinet, no ministers, no policy, no nothing. this comment dislocated economic activity in the nation
2. set up cabinet first and committee to consult with industry players, stakeholders and Nigerians on how to implement the policy and address its effects.
3. could have waited few months and possibly assisted Dangote to complete the refinery faster. Negotiate, sell crude to him in exchange for refined products at agreed naira prices., subject to periodic adjustments.
4. approach the NASS for possible supplementary budget to address possible temporary shortfalls in the budget. (to avoid the nation being thrown into confusion with fuel queues, hunger, demonstrations, riots etc. and for companies to prepare and plan ahead)
5. gradual, piecemeal devaluation of the currency, especially after we might have stopped importing refined products, with Dangote supplying and meeting our local needs.
6. adopt a managed exchange rate system, instead of complete floatation (it never favours an import-dependent, developing country)
7. sell gas to electricity generating companies in Naira, (instead of selling in USD) because Nigerian citizens pay for electricity consumed in naira. Selling gas to the Gencos in USD is a sure way to kill them especially when you devalue your currency from about N500 to N1,500 to the USD.
8. adopt prudent measures in govt., cut down wasteful expenditures. show leadership by example. Nigerian president can travel by commercial flight if the people are suffering. Avoid traveling to international conferences with 400 delegates etc.
9. Prioritize and complete existing viable projects (e.g. roads) instead of rushing to award questionable, inflated projects to cronies with little or no transparency.
10. do not share excess crude account in raw cash to state govts (it causes inflation). ask each state to indicate a key infrastructure project in their state and draw up plans to finance these projects using proceeds in the account (or part thereof) under the supervision of supra -national bodies e.g. world bank, AfDB etc.
..............etc etc etc
