I have been trying to decipher the reason for the delay in distributing the bonus.

With this discovery, I am trying to hope that Mr Wale has not dribbled investors...
I saw it shortly before the last AG but I could not attend.
He has virtually dribbled the investors. Probably partly why the AGM was held online
The original clause was something like to distribute the shares and/or their monetary value to shareholders.
I guess he is now interpreting the monetary value as ''some of''.

My fear is that they may decide to allow the new, incoming investors (after the capital raise) to take part in the share redistribution, thereby diluting the ration of the pre-existing shareholders.

This litter you are talking about is a huge business, there is a place called Akindele in Ibadan, lots of people are making a living from it.

That is because u know what stocks mean and know that ngx exist. Go tell our larger population which are in local/remote places doing business. Or many illiterates which dominate our market or even civil servants
Then it is a problem of knowledge and education?

You cant call yourself a trader and you find it difficult to make a net profit margin of 20% within 6 months or service a loan at 30% interest rate per annum.

A trader who got a loan of N10 million and paid back in 6 months with only pay an interest of N1.5 million on the loan in 6 months.

At a net profit margin of 20% in 6 months that should give a profit of N2 million.

I doubt if this Taiwo Oyedele has any investments in NGX, otherwise he wouldn't be saying this.
I pray he dose not destroy his reputation because of this unpopular CGT policy of the govt..

U dey funny. U want to teach me business opportunities on the street...dey play.
I wonder the particular north they come from.
The north I know has far many and larger poultry farm because it is cheaper to blend the food locally over thr because of availability of the raw materials needed. The northern politician invest more in farms.i would have had one before nigeria happened to north and I abandoned it

While a lot of us are focusing on the very high capital gain tax, this can actually be a blessing in disguise for NGX. I see the steep capital gain tax as a risk mitigation to help reduce capital flight in the face of economic stagnation, recession, sanctions and protect the long term stability and growth of NGX.

Most times, we’ve been made to believe capital flight that paralyze and damage Nigerian capital market are caused by political uncertainty, corruption, macroeconomic instability including: currency depreciation, high inflation, external debt, high interest rate and others…While these rationale are very valid, they are not the major reasons.

Other reasons that can trigger sudden capital flight includes: sanctions by foreign governments, statements from big corporations or financial institutions and others. These triggers can happen at any time, due to no fault of the government. Speculative attacks from these capital flight will end up having catastrophic consequences on Nigerian economy.

Example of this was in 2015, when JP Morgan removed Nigeria from its index bond. This sudden exclusion triggered significant capital outflows, with foreign investors selling their Nigerian bonds, stocks and other assets. Leading to decline in stock market, devaluation of naira, higher interest rates, job losses and other economic problems. Let’s assume we had this CGT at the time, could this have prevented the speculative bubble of the 2015?

The long term stability and growth of NGX should be the most important factors. Any policy/ policies to strengthen this stability and growth should supersede short term gains of all investors.

Many people who are into trading whr not thought this maths and calculation during thr apprenticeship training. And they are many u see all over the markets in nigeria .
I have seen my in banking and insurance sector selling products that don't even know it is spread per annum. They don't even know how to calculate the per annum interest on that matter. They tell people it is 5% in this macro finance banks and the person goes home not knowing it is per month

The new directive requires tax to be deducted at the point of payment on instruments such as treasury bills, corporate bonds, promissory notes, and bills of exchange.

The tax body, however, said interest on federal government bonds remains exempt from the levy.

Interest on OMO Bills issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is also not liable to tax deduction.

Nigerian investors don't want the CGT. It is not about capital flight or no capita flight by foreign investors
The NGX is now dominated by local investors.
Most foreign investors sold off their shares as prices fell drastically during the global financial crisis and Covid-19 pandemic giving Nigerians the opportunity to buy more shares.
