Despite paying N50,000 caution fee for hostel accommodation last year, Students were still asked to contribute money before repairs are carried out. At the end of the session, the caution fee was not refunded.

Now this new session, another Caution fee was collected, another N50,000!!!. The annoying part is that the new hostel room they are just coming into, they are being asked to contribute money to fix the locks for the Kitchen and the main door -N2,500 per occupant, that's N12,500. This is for damage that is no fault of theirs. The caution fee paid by these 5 Students is N250,000.

So what is the caution fee for. Please I don't understand this. Abeg, help ne loud am.

Is staying in the school's hotel compulsory?

Only problem will be if the school collects the 50k caution fee regardless of whether one stays in their hostel or not

That being said, Nigeria is a crime scene...the fact that it's very likely that nothing will be done to the LASU authorities for this orchestrated fraud against young people is worthy of being extremely ashamed of

But it is funny and lame how someone is complaining of how university authority is cheating students and some of NLers here are blaming him for not living off campus. It the same attitude with interrogating government on their policies. Some will raise an issue against the government, other people will either trivialise it or derail it with useless remarks.

We have become so tolerant to our oppressors.

issue of failed union is virtually everywhere now ooo.like most of the Union executive members are just after what they can milk from the institution to their own personal account.

At the end the avearge federal uni is more expensive than 90% of private unis out there. The difference is the FG and state subsidy for few state schools like LASU, LAUTECH.

I remember these hostels in 2000 when I went there for Pre-degree program. There were no functional toilets. Slept on the football pitch few times only to discover students do shot put at night on the same pitch.

I remember running home to my (now late) parents and got more funds to move ‘uphill’.

Uphill was the name of the location of accommodation given to junior staff, who in turn, rent same out to rich students.

Back then the hostels were near non-existent, and we students lived with snakes and angry monkeys.

Only the engineering block had meaningful accommodation.

Spent few months and was lucky enough to find meaningful admission elsewhere.

I am still shocked that after 25 years, still same story.

This statement is the situation we find ourselves in Nigeria. These unpatriotic Nigerians in their various universities causing hardship to our children will be the first ones to blame the government of the day. Meanwhile the students cannot openly complain about the ills being meted out to them for fear of being victimized.

With this kind of wickedness melted on the younger ones in Nigeria, it will take the grace of God for the youth to love their elders in Nigeria.

The funny thing is that most of these people running our high institutions today, went to school on scholarship.
