YESTERDAY’S EVENT AT LAGOS STATE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, OKO-OBA, AGEGE. LAGOS STATE; NIGERIA.

Yesterday’s program at the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (#LSADA), Oko-Oba Agege, was highly impactful as our Chairman delivered a powerful and thought-provoking lecture on Black Soldier Fly (#BSF) farming as a sustainable and profitable solution for livestock feed production.

His presentation highlighted how #BSFfarming transforms organic waste into high-quality insect protein, helping livestock farmers reduce feed costs significantly.
He explained that #BSFlarvae are rich in essential nutrients—protein, fat, and minerals—making them an excellent replacement or supplement for expensive ingredients such as fishmeal and soybean meal.

He also emphasized the environmental benefits, showing how BSF farming reduces waste pollution, supports circular agriculture, and creates new income opportunities for farmers.
Simple, practical pathways for farmers to start BSF production, from small household setups to fully integrated commercial systems.

Furthermore, he discussed how #BSF-based feeds can improve poultry, catfish, pets, and pig production, and how Lagos farmers can leverage this innovation to improve profitability despite rising feed costs through proper pratical based awareness and training.

He called for stronger collaboration between farmers, feed mills, cooperatives and government agencies to scale BSF production across the state.

In his closing remarks, he encouraged the authorities to sensitized farmers to embrace this sustainable approach as a long-term solution for feed challenges, economic resilience, and environmental sustainability.

The lecture was a major eye-opener and a strong push toward innovative, affordable and eco-friendly livestock feeding strategies in Lagos State.

We expressed our appreciation to the organizers for giving us the privilege to be part of the event.
Their platform allowed us to share valuable knowledge on BSF farming and interact with policymakers.

We also emphasized that we are open to building more partnerships and collaborations because working together with government agencies, farmer groups, research institutions, and private sector players will help us deliver even greater impact.

By partnering, we can expand training, support more farmers, share technical expertise, and accelerate the adoption of BSF farming as a sustainable and cost-effective solution for livestock feed.

Our commitment is to continue giving our best in every engagement and to strengthen the network of stakeholders working toward affordable and sustainable livestock production.
