oxx4:Must you be rude, disrespectful and use derogatory words because you decided to support and bootlick a govt? Do you understand the meaning of the word ''probably''? The people who hate the country are the ones making the citizens to suffer unprecedented untold hardship while they award dubious N16 trillion contract to their cronies and friends without competitive tender process, no NASS approval, no budgetary scrutiny and approval, no transparency, no accountability. |

chimex38:I think our people need to pay more attention to our budget. We have a national budget the government is working on. The budget has a deficit of about N13 trillion which is to be financed by domestic and external borrowing. That is to say that even if we meet our revenue target,we will still have a shortfall of about N13 trillion. I sincerely don't know how you think a stabilisation fund of about $3 billion is what should be used to finance a year budget deficit of about N13 trillion. We still need a long way to go, the money we are generating as a country is still very low in relation to our population. |

pluto09:What a balablu story. In ur individual capacity. Do u make budget to the turn of unreasonable deficit while hanging to meet it via borrowing when u said u met a bad economy. U have a budget hanging on large deficit because of expected income shortage. Then u first go out on jamboree spending on wants and waste with what is available on hand.which prudent management does that.U are running ur budget on deficit based on anticipated revenue yet ur cabinet is bloated with appointments. The citizens bear the pains of hard times while u and ur class live larger than llife. All these stories is because it didn't succeed. They would all have been explaining in under ground cells by now or be explaining to baba God thr actions on earth |

NSEstudent:Yes....correct. that's the conservative average generally. However But based on specific results of some stocks and the nature of business(low OS, economic necessity, Brand name popularly, MOAT factor, expansions, good and regular dividend payments, good dividend yield, etc) he could use EPS x 4x5 OR EPS x 4x6 or (inbetweens) For negative perception within the stock and stained result (e.g bloated OS, Accumulated debt on balance sheet, -ve equity, poor dividend or no dividends, sector standards etc he could apply a penalty of 50%,75%, etc. That is: EPS x 4x 4 x 50%(0.5) or EPS x 4 x 4 x 75%(0.75) as the case may be.. You could customise it according to your own valuation and due diligence as well. |

pluto09:Why is the budget so large if we are not productive? It looks over-bloated, all these ₦13 trillion budgets that show no real justification after implementation. But correct me if I’m wrong: most of what the government spends goes to salaries, which are naira-denominated, and then supposedly to capital projects. The government has been investing in these capital projects for years, yet they don’t seem to generate real value. What percentage of Nigerians actually benefit from these massive expenditures? Most citizens and businesses still provide everything for themselves, electricity, water, security, and so on. The only thing we all seem to enjoy are a few roads. We keep borrowing billions of dollars to close budget shortfalls, yet there’s nothing concrete to show for it. ![]() |

pluto09:Fair enough, if it's $3bn, then probably not enough as you stated. If you read my previous reply I was not against borrowing for infrastructure. I am against the bulk of the borrowing catering for previous borrowing that's due next month(Akpabio said it on the floor of the senate). How sustainable? You and I will bear the consequence of this new borrowings through aggressive taxation amongst others. Not for social amenities, but to cater for borrowings and the cycle continues. ![]() |

ositadima1:I am in agreement with some of the points you raised. Some of my posts about public finance in the country is mostly about putting things in proper perspective and not to support some of the government actions. I am also not comfortable with the level of our debt. In the 2025 budget, allocation for debt servicing ranked highest in recurrent expenditures even more than salary and overhead. Key figures for 2025 budget Total Budget: ₦54.99 trillion Revenue: ₦41.81 trillion Fiscal Deficit: ₦13.08 trillion Recurrent Expenditure: ₦13.64 trillion Capital Expenditure: ₦23.96 trillion Debt Servicing: ₦14.32 trillion Statutory Transfers: ₦3.65 trillion |

chimex38:Thank you for your response. There was a drawdown of around $150m during covid from the Stablization Fund. Government knows what to do if they need fund from there. In addition, the fund was setup majorly to invest on behalf of the government and grown the fund so that the country will not go broke when Hydrocarbon (crude oil) is no longer in "vogue". If they start spending the funds to block borrowings, won't it defeat the reason for setting the SWF up in the first place? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by oxx4: 12:43pm On Oct 30, 2025 |
pluto09:Thank you. The $3bn is even for the whole fund that the SWF is managing. Stablization fund is less than $600m |
