In my own opinion, the first thing is to generate enough funds to cover our recurrent expenditures; debt servicing (including seed money to retire matured debt obligations), salary and overhead.
U see..

Govt from inception of Democracy generally has a poor credit rating on fiscal usage of resources but a small fraction of the populace are willing to give this taxation a try with reluctancy and grumbling as a way of trying sth different but then borrowing into their future? decreases this optimism further.

The recurrent expenditures shouldn't just be salaries and overhead, it should also substantially include utilities that serve the masses directly as well as spontaneously!!
Water treatment, swift replacement of electricity poles and wire collapse by weather or miscreants. Assist community blown out transformers swiftly (Govt has 40% stake in all Discos and Gencos)

Japan and Co takes few days to months to repair roads damaged by earthquakes!
Why I no go pay tax if I dey there?

Income tax error

H1 Tax was 2.912bn
Q3 Tax is meant to be about 1.6282bn instead of 16.282bn to give 9-month Tax of about 4.482bn

"During the period, we made meaningful progress in integrating operations, strengthening security
and community relations, as well as resolving legacy issues inherited at the point of operatorship.
Most notably, we achieved a partial recovery of substantial receivables that had remained
outstanding for several years and made significant headway in renegotiating long-standing legal
matters that had previously been fully provisioned for. These milestones underscore the depth of our
leadership and our unwavering commitment to unlocking value...”

KarlTom:
ChatGPT

“Positive” as in net income or gain (i.e., administrative expenses showing a credit balance instead of a cost), can happen only in special cases — when recoveries, reversals or reclassifications exceed the actual expenses

🟢 1. Expense Reversal or Recovery

If prior-year over-accrued admin expenses are reversed:

e.g., a ₦5 million accrual for audit fees was made but actual cost was ₦3 million → ₦2 million reversal (credit).
This appears as a negative expense (a “positive” to profit).

🟢 2. Reimbursement from Partners or Affiliates

Common in oil & gas joint venture operations:

If one operator incurs admin costs on behalf of partners and gets reimbursed, the reimbursement can offset or exceed admin costs.

🟢 3. Reclassification of Shared Services

Sometimes head-office expenses are reallocated to project or production costs.
If this reallocation is more than the booked admin expenses, it results in a net credit to the administrative expense line.

🟢 4. Foreign Exchange Gains or Other Income Posted Against Admin Costs

Occasionally, FX gains, insurance recoveries, or write-backs mistakenly (or for convenience) net off admin costs, yielding a “positive” total.

How come nobody spotted this obvious error in the figure quoted for Q3 Income Tax Expense in the NAHCO report before pushing it out? Could this be the reason people sold it off today?

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Sunrisepebble: 3:13pm On Oct 30, 2025
Seen. The result wasn’t good as a standalone to be honest, makes sense why it fell today. Was expecting more than N3 for Q3

HIGHLIGHTS

- Awarded operatorship of Block KON 13 (Angola), expanding Oando’s footprint to the Kwanza Basin.
- Completed the Obiafu-44 gas-condensate well, brought onstream in October, and progressed surface-facility debottlenecking to enhance flow assurance and minimise downtime.

Oando is a goldmine in waiting!
The successful turnaround from downstream to upstream is no mean feat.
Imagine what would happen after successfully raising fresh capital (to eliminate huge finance costs) and additional oil blocs in Nigeria, the Angola operations, Trinidad refinery etc.

It has been a long, difficult journey and unfortunately some investors might have lost money in the past but the future is very bright.

Today happens to be the last day for dropping of Q3 reports. See as companies dey drop the reports without giving one any time to properly analyse it. Even Oando too is not left out. I guess many no wan pay fine to NGX. But, I doubt if Banks like Fidelity and Access can make any progress in this regards. Particularly Fidelity, I don't think I have seen their H1 2025 results.

Please, has anyone received the second tranch of Oando bonus ? I am waiting for my own so as to package everything together and enter either Seplat or Aradel ( i don't mind having very small units there). Both clearly have direction, I just tied money in Oando and it is even depreciating by the day. They can't see their mate in Seplat and Aradel churning out very impressive results. sad sad sad
I think distribution of the Tranche2 is for early next year, according to someone who has gone through the notes to Q3 2025 results. But the qualifying date would not change i.e. 30-June,2024

Hello house,

I tried to borrow from Stanbic using my sukuk bond as collateral. Since the sukuk couldn't sell because it was bought three years ago with a lower rate, I inquired about the interest rate. My account officer said it's between 27% to 30%. Please, is this real?

Thank you

I believe you saw rightly but calculations don't seem right.

Revenue increased by over 50%.

Net-Interest income doubled with over 120%.

chimex38:
@naturalflow the Q3 performance was not as good as Q2 performance that took it SP to 4+
It made ₦0.56 EPS in H1(Q1+Q2) which made estimated FY EPS to be about ₦1.10k! Consequently, this took SP to ₦4+
Q3 alone it made ₦0.13
(drop per Q). This shows it may not attain the FY EPS of ₦1.10k that was estimated by H1 that took the Share price to ₦4 if it continues with this ₦0.13 EPS in Q4.

I know Qtn is meant for Aj8.
But let me add.

EPS of MB is 0.69 Year-Till-Date(9Months).

We are only left with 1 quarter EPS to add to the EPS of 0.69 to get the Estimated FY EPS.

12=12 calender months
9= calender months.

0.69* 12/9 will give you the estimated full year EPS of ₦0.92k
He multiplies by 4 as his personal standard of average PE ratio of 4 for "most" companies which he calls common sense grin.
0.92* 4=₦3.68 as target price.

Alternative1,
4=4 quarters(12months; FY)
3= 3 quarters(9months)
he could as well have done 0.69*(4/3)=₦0.92
Then 0.92*4= ₦3.68 as target price.

For a more logical breakdown:
Alternatively 2, you can divide 0.69(Eps for 3 quarters) by 3 to get the EPS for 1 Quarter=
0.69/3= 0.23.

Then multiply 0.23 *4 to get the estimated full yr EPS= ₦0.92k.
Then multiply 0.92*4 to get the common sense target price of ₦3.68 as target price
Q.E.D Chimex
A1.

Also means for any to buy into value, one would need to buy well below 3.68 till we see improvement at FY , positive news or rumor before then, or a herd effect in the insurance sector driving prices up for a good reason etc. I will not reenter until I see something positive ( I had earlier sold off most of MB at N4.65 within our initial target. Market generally is clawing lower, rotating to the Blue chips.
