crownprince2017:You have attacked on several occasions based on my opinion about Ellah Lakes, said my tools were old school. Since you now observed that the management of Ellah Lakes are more concerned about the share price of the stock and you sold, it is the right thing to also tell us that you have changed your opinion about the stock and you have sold Nosa told us when he sold |

I think AGGRESSIVE SUPPORT and DEFENCE by one's conviction morally demands at least PASSIVE CRITICISM if there's change of mind even if it's just PASSIVELY stated. |

I agree with your interpretation. I attach a shot of the section. Best us for people to get the Gazette itself. Another point to consider is "... disposal of shares in any Nigerian company ...". This may mean that it is individual company based. There is no mention of "PORTFOLIO" in the law. Each company is regarded as a separate asset, just like in real estate where each property is regarded a separate investment. That means you have to own and dispose of shares worth N150m on aggregate in one company, and gain N10m from when you bought them before you pay tax. This maybe why they said that more than 97% of people in the market will not be affected. I may be wrong here. Hope the lawyers in the house would help. Namaster:

ogawisdom:They will resolve their issues. The problem for America is not the genocide. The problem is that 15% tax on imported fuel. It's going to totally eliminate importation if dirty fuel from Europe and America. Genocide didn't start today. They will reach another deal that will calm trump. If not, trump will try to scatter things for our president in the next election, using genocide as an excuse. |

crownprince2017:I love this response from you. It is high time everyone on this thread know that investment is not a team event. People may market and praise a stock, they may not really have a unit there. On the other hand, they may really have it and have a very good reason to quickly exit. I believe they owe no one any explanation. Don't buy a stock because Mr A is buying, buy a stock you have done due diligence. The earlier you allow this to sink, the better for you. A word is enough for the wise. ![]() |

jonnysessy:This is someone who attacked anybody with contrary opinions concerning Ellah Lakes, he attacked even when he was not quoted. Stock market is not a team sport for those who keep their stock picks to themselves, but if you must share your stock picks here and givee reasons why the stock is a buy It is morally right to also inform people that you have sold based on current realities |

Namaster:Thank you sir and i agree with this. The learning here is IF A COMPANY QUALIFY AS A SMALL COMPANY, THEN IT WILL NOT PAY CORPORATE INCOME TAX EVEN WHEN IT DISPOSE SHARES ABOVE THE THRESHOLD IRRESPECTIVE OF WHETHER THE MONEY IS REINVESTED OR NOT. MINIMUM TAX WILL NOT BE PAID ALSO. So let us take it a step further: Assume i have a COMPANY that i used solely for investment into financial asset/services purposes and the following are my financials for 2026 accounting year: Coupon from FGN savings bond......45m Coupon from corporate bonds ......15m Divident income from listed equity......10m Dividend recieved from Mutual funds....25m Fees and commissions.........25m Gain on disposal of shares.....45m My cost of operations include: Salaries .......40m Rent............30m Diesel and electricity....30m Transport and travel.......17m R& ................10mRepairs and maintanc....7m Rates and levies........1m Depreciation..........4m Amorrisation of intangbl (software)....1m Regulatory charges (NGX, SEC etc).....1m Note: 1. Total fixed assets is 400m 2. The gain on disposal of shares was arrived at as dollows: Cost of acqusition(2020 -2025).....200m Proceeds from disposal(March- Dec 2026)....245m Net gain on disposal......45m Please Gurus in the house A. Is there Corporate Income tax payable, if yes, how much. B. Is there CGT payable, if yes, how much. NB: assume CIT rate of 30% and capital allowance claimable of 1m. |

emmanuelewumi:You have your point too sir. I guessed he had somehow passed the message that he had quit, that was why you knew he had dump the stock. So now that he is no longer there, his disciples can also dump theirs too. At least the man said he truth that what he was seeing before, he no longer can see the same thing. He might as well have secretly sold-off and nobody knows. But, he has the integrity to have mentioned it that he had moved on. |

ogawisdom:I saw this on BBC News this morning. This is what happens when you're the most powerful military in the world. Then you take a young hot-headed ex-army dude and change his job title from Defense Sec to War Secretary. Have you not re-programmed him from Defensive to Offensive? Inevitable outcome is military adventurism. For Nigeria there is no cause for alarm. America will not be invading the country country if they decide to go thro with it. Gboko Haram will be a ragtag militant no-show, up against a Trump-Military that put paid to the Islamic State Caliphate in 3 months of his first coming. All it will take is a small US Military Outpost in Sambisa Forest equiped with the most lethal land and air military technologies, and co-odination with the surrounding militaries of Nigeria, Cameroun, Chad and Niger. As the Americans decimate the militants in the forest, those who escape will be mopped up by aforementioned surrounding militaries if the will to finish the insurgency is there. Ninety-nine percent of Nigerian territory should not even know there is a war on. Part 2 of Nigeria's security problems is the Fulani Jihad in the Middle Belt and Herdsmen Terrorism all over the Country. Addressing those are simple acts of the President's will to act. Call in the Military Chiefs and the IGP. Bang your hand on the desk and order the Chiefs to protect the Middle Belt Communities from Fulani Invaders. Bang your hand on the desk and order the IGP to disarm the Fulani Herders of the miltary-grade assault riffles they carry about, ferreting out and proscuting their suppliers of such weapons. There is no systematic Christian Genocide. But there is Jihadi Insurgency, Gboko H, and Fulani Terrorism. And for sure Jihadists target all non-adherents of the particular extremism they profess, especially when such non-adherents are Christians. |

jonnysessy:My own take Is: You don't not need to tell us when you sold..thats even too generous if you do. But you do need to come back to criticize it the same way you hyped it if possible. Theres nothing bad in it.. Change of opinions from time to time is a huge part of the market. But it becomes difficult to swallow your talk when derogatory words(naysayers, bad belle, enemies, wicked, etc) are used on personalities just for criticizing a stock and now reaching the same conclusion some of them reached months or yrs ago. I always see such words as fighting for the sustained share price of the stock rather than justifying the sustained business behind the stock. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 5:36pm On Nov 02, 2025 |
On a second note, I don't also think a company interested in the share price of its business when its in the process of issuing a public offer or right issue is a red flag, especially PO. Minimising dilution effect is very important for management and the Board, chairman and owners who have higher stakes.. Major owners will be impressed cuz of their reduced dilution effect. I don't think any company will want to issue majority or all of its assets as shares. The goal is always less shares *high share price= to meet capitalization. However they justify the high share price and get public involved to meet capitalization requirement is a mark of efficiency. GTB took advantage of our currency exchange with the pounds sterling at almost ₦2000 to issue less shares and still meet capita requirements. If Ellah is interested in SP at this point, it's understandable. but make them try dey smarter before they shoot themselves for leg. |
