Please, why are people rushing to buy the shares of NCR Plc? I see it as a Toxic company and a Time Bomb waiting to explode badly... Their Books is in a mess. Fine they made profit after series of losses, but they are not yet out of the woods. Also, it is worrying that their Current Liabilities is higher than even their Total Assets. Take a 2nd look at it and tell us what we are missing in it...
Not really. Even though they have negative equity due to huge payables, this debt isn’t interest-bearing, so it doesn’t eat into whatever profit they manage to generate. I’m not sure what kind of deal they have with the companies that supplied them goods or services, worst case, they do a rights issue or gradually pay it off over time. Those companies can’t take over NCR, strip it for parts, and sell, they wouldn’t recover their money that way. The only viable option is to support NCR until it’s able to pay them back, so it’s not imploding anytime soon.

Despite all this, I wouldn’t be surprised if the stock reaches ₦30 per share.

In the past, if there's downturn in the market, there used to be very low volumes and transactions.....but it seems different this time around......billions still exchanging

Some investors still buying......

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by opaclem: 8:04am On Nov 08, 2025
@Mercy, I'm of the opinion that the bull is market reaction to trio effect of CGR, Coup and DT, if you look closely, you will realize that Naira also dropped value these are all indication of Nigerian investors panic, meanwhile the Eurobond was oversubscribed signaling the international investors still find Nigeria lucrative enough, remember US cut rate so Nigeria investment is still lucrative. discerning investors are taking advantage of the scenario to amass stocks with solid values.

I am wandering if anyone knows how charges for inter-member transfer works. I had a stock broker charging me 10k for this transfer. The portfolio been transfered isnt even worth up to a hundred thousand naira. Mind you this is the broker im transferring from. I know there are transfer fees involved but 10k?? Is there no regulation on such fees? At some point the broker even threathen to increase it by another 10k.

I already paid the 10k. But my mom also has an 3 accounts worth over 10M. Not sure luquidating that account would be the best move. They might also want to charge more than 10k for her move. Also who determines the commission when selling?

@Geist, there is actually no fixed or regulated fee for transfers, but the charges should be reasonable. The truth is, there really shouldn't be a charge; it was introduced just to discourage customers from leaving the current house.

However, if the fees become excessive by all standards, you can involve the SEC because it's your right to move from one house to the other and should not be deprived.

Though most of the ones I have handled were years back, and fees were not even up to 5k. Then and now, I always give them the same suggestion pa Emma gave above. I tell my clients to subscribe to direct settlement, then just sell off all stocks, and use the proceeds to buy stocks in their preferred house.

Not based on portfolio value.

The firm determines what to charge.

The fees is set by different houses. Some increase it to discourage you from moving the stock to other house.
You may want to move if you are sure of getting superior service at the target house or stay put with the resident house

sell the better stocks thr at bull season and use the money to buy back at pull backs in ur new house. When yeye one are remaining tell them u want to transfer and u will see the charge will be nothing again .That is if the transfer charge at this time is so high for your mum holdings .It should not be above 20k no matter the valuation of the portfolio because it will not cost them anything in the process

Nigerian Exchange Loses N2.8 Trillion in One Week as Investors Sell Off Stocks Amid possible U.S. Military Invasion Reports

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) suffered heavy losses this week, with the All-Share Index (ASI) dropping for the fifth consecutive day to close at 149,524.8 points on November 7 — down 501.7 points from the previous session. The week’s decline wiped out about N2.8 trillion in market value, marking a 2.11% weekly loss.

Friday’s 0.33% drop followed a sluggish trading session that saw 527 million shares exchanged across 24,637 deals, compared to 619 million shares traded on Thursday. Market capitalization also slipped to N94.9 trillion from N95.3 trillion, reflecting the continued bearish sentiment.

Analysts attributed the selloffs to investor concerns over the federal government’s proposed 25% capital gains tax on profits above N150 million, expected to take effect in January 2026. Some foreign investors are also reportedly exiting due to rising geopolitical risks, including U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent thre@t of possible military action against Nigeria.

Despite the general downturn, NCR and MCNICHOLS topped the gainers’ chart, rising by 9.94% and 9.82%, respectively. On the losers’ end, BERGER and CILEASING shed 10.00% and 9.86%. In trading activity, WEMABANK and CONHALLPLC recorded the highest volumes for the day.

This kind of news needs to be on the headlines continuously all through next week and beyond until this wicked government suspends the implementation of this CGT rubbish or at least cancel the retrospective aspects of it.
Please lawyers in the house can a law be implemented retrospectively?
