The Government is not an Islamic financial institution.

Excellent7:
It is red everywhere!

Funny thing is that the government does not intend to participate in sharing from the realized losses but wants a piece of realized gains.

Whatever the trigger is, as long as they pay attention and do something 😁😁😁
We hope they do the right thing. The market dictates the government’s actions, not the other way around. If the market continues to sell off, the government will have no choice but to step in and address the situation."

We'd be discussing today's sharp fall on the NGX due to worries about CGT, and a possible reversal by the government.

Time is 9pm Nigerian time.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 6:02pm On Nov 11, 2025
Edun also mentioned review of tariffs. I hope they don't reduce the 15% tariffs on imports of refined oil. That is really Trump's issue with Nigeria and not any Christians. Unfortunately he got the government acting scared and the political opposition and religious leaders saying all sorts of irrelevant things.

Nigeria likely to review capital gain tax, Edun says

Your voices have been heard.
Medicine after death.
This is what happens when a govt picks some jobbers to draft a new tax law just for increasing revenue without proper consultation with key stakeholders in all sectors of the economy.
People have lost money already because of this CGT nonsense.
Trial and error govt.

Or just look out 5-10 years, and realize this will likely be a forgotten blip in the grand trend.

Demography is destiny. For all our problems, we're privileged to have front row seats to an evolving economy of 150+ million people, median age of 18 years, with an unquenchable appetite for food, drink, data, electricity, homes, roads, airports, payment solutions, loans, insurance, and pornography.

Close eye and BUY the best positioned companies a little at a time.

ogawisdom:
when panic selling dries up, look at bid and offer status to confirm. The daily losses slow, volume drops, and you start seeing small green days after long red ones. It means sellers are exhausted. Buy in stages sha because the new support can still be broken and it goes further down. you dont want to catch a falling knife by going fully into a stock on full offer immediately

Firstholdco
NB etc
I didn't look at NB but price drop on Firstholdco wasnt bad.

In any case I am bullish on the banking sector not the whole market.

When companies make Loss, they don't pay Tax, do they?

So why do we have to pay Commissions to all these inefficient Stockbrokers when we sell off a stock at a Loss?

Immediately I observed the volume in Geregu, I simply waited for that huge volume in FirstHoldCo to happen today or few days time.
It's been like that for a while (Geregu and FirstHoldCo).
NB had a single transaction of more than 20m units.
I think some form of accumulation commenced today in some key stocks.

If it was to do with the CPC as you said. We would also see the impact on the official FX rate considering we rely on a lot of foreign flows for our OMO bills. No effect there at all.
Exactly..
Someone posted FX rate here

They have no choice but to reduce it. The pressure on them has been crazy since the last 2 weeks as the ASI, their main 2027 campaign poster is bleeding badly.

This happens 16 years ago, the market went down continuously on a weekly basis for over 3 months
Correct man.

In a bear market, you know the difference between investors and gamblers.

If the price of a good product you need temporarily goes down 50% , what would you do? You buy more. A bear market is actually a blessing to an investor. Not so for the gambler
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by brosiye99(m): 7:56pm On Nov 11, 2025
Best they can do to save face is to leave it at 10% and give a progressive timeline for any increase to not exceed 15% max in the coming years.

Let's see how this week ends first
Quite some accumulations at some points today.......maybe it was due to Wale Edun's speech before market closed

We are not in a bear market yet until ASI drops below 120k
