Gambia is actually a nice country, enjoyed my stay there also.
Very serene and quiet environment, love their beaches and the clean environment. Though voodoo is a rampant practice there and na big big nyash their ladies just get, they are not as beautiful as our Nigerian ladies.

At a point I thought I was in Nigeria because Nigerian music is always blasting anywhere you turn or hear music playing, they said they don't understand the language but they love our beats and wordings.

For the electricity, I doubt if what the Op said is true though.

Nigerians plenty for that country o and most of the lecturers teaching in that country are Nigerians.
I even saw about 2 truckload of Nigerian soldiers there doing patrol, maybe for peacekeeping or something.

Do you know that The Gambia are the original owner of jollof rice?
They call it benachin.
Then there's their yassa poulet, an onion based sauce, usually served with rice also.

Also, when it comes to cooking, they take their time to lay the foundations of flavour.
They don't rush.

You omitted that one of the tribes in Gambia is the Jollof tribe, and that they are recorded as being the first known to mix rice and pepper and oil, so the food Jollof Rice is theirs

Lol, Cost of living is high there o compared to Nigeria.

Because your Nigerian mind will always come into play when buying things and you will find yourself converting their currency(Dalasi) to Naira in your head and see that you are paying wayyyyy higher than what you would have paid here in Nigeria.

Nigeria has been the big brother of Gambia for decades. Nigerians were head of Gambian Army, Chief Justice of Gambia, heads of several ministries and parastatals for decades. On the whole world, Gambians are the only people that see Nigeria as their big brother. They love Nigerias so much. I know this because I spent about two months in Gambia for several years because the bank I was working for had branches in Gambia.

At the end of the day, our MD for Gambia Subsidiaries married a Gambian woman as his second wife, Nigerian wife had to pack her luggage and move to Gambia before dem carry her husband go patapata, she told me that sharing a husband is better than having no husband. You are absolutely right. I was in Gambia some years back, I love in Serekunda and do business in Banjul, close to the market.

My first few months was not too pleasant to me food wise, due to the fact everything is rice and tea

Until I found out Igbo man restaurant that cook soup, yet the garri is prepared with grounded rice .
The people are nice, not materialistic.

The electricity part is a big fat lie.... Plus the entrepreneurship start up. The only thriving business is tourism and fishing.... The Gambia can't even compare to Asaba or Edo state.
