I got mine within a week. So it shouldn't be more than that depending on the day you requested for the withdrawal. If you're in Abuja, you'll get it faster.

Just ensure that you follow up the withdrawal email with a phone call to ensure they've seen your email and that they have or they will action it ASAP.

For those who have been waiting for more than 12 weeks after their application docs got to Abuja, sincerely I would advise you consider withdrawing your application so that you'll have a clean record without visa denial.

However, if your school is still able to accept you and there's still time, then ensure that no week passes by without you calling them to know the status of your application, letting them know it's more than 12 weeks and that you need a decision so that you can get on with your travel plans. But if they ask you for a document/documents that you can't provide, sharply withdraw your application before you're denied.

Don't waste time. Count your losses, wipe your tears and look at other options for 2026. This is admission and scholarship season o. Don't waste it.

Hi Everyone,

I hope we are all doing well.

Could anyone please share how long it usually takes to receive your passport back after withdrawing a study visa application?

Thank you, they even sent me a mail which says:

Dear Applicant,

As the date for the start of your 2025 studies have passed, we now require clarification of your study plans at this time.

If you have deferred the start date of your studies until January/February 2026, please forward the deferral letter from the College within 5 working days showing the new start date of your January/February studies.

Or

(i) If your college will still accept you to your course of studies this semester, please forward a letter from college stating final date for your attendance to the course in the State.

Or

(ii) If you want to withdraw your study visa application at this time, please reply within 5 working days to this email.

And

(iii) If you also decide to defer your studies until September 2026, please note that you must submit a new application next year, at least 12 weeks prior to your intended departure date.

FAILURE TO REPLY WITHIN 5 WORKING DAYS WITH YOUR UPDATED INSTRUCTION WILL LEAD TO A DECISION BEING ISSUED ON THE DETAILS OF YOUR APPLICATION ON HAND.

So in this case, the third option is the one that suits me that is I have to withdraw
Will they refund me my visa application fee?

Why don’t you email the school and get a deferral letter cause this is looking promising to me instead of withdrawing the application

I already have a deferral letter from school for the next intake which is September, 2026, so I just have to send the letter to them and withdraw

Have you tried mailing them??
Re: Ireland Study Visa thread,General Life Experience of Nigerians Living in Ireland by bigmills: 10:26pm On Nov 17, 2025
When you mail them, they send generic response.

Their processing time for appeal is within 6months and going by their processing time for application, the possibility of them maxing out that 6months is high...Appeal takes longer time than normal application.
if you plan to resume January, withdraw your appeal and do a free application..But make sure you address every refusal in that application.

MAD, thats crazy. No wonder my school messaged me if I have submitted my appeal and asked when I submitted, I then told them what’s their advice for me since we know the processing now take more time than initial and I may not make January( I deferred from September 2025 to January 2026) and the school said they will defer my admission to April if the embassy won’t make January meaning, the embassy might contact me to ask if I have deferred or will withdraw to start new application for September 2026. Mind you I never for once saw on the school website that they have an April intake(DBS). They all know what’s happening, just contact your school.

Guys, please i need answers from those who have successfully migrated as students to ireland,
1. How many years is the post study after your msc?
2. Does your post study count towards permanent residency? i spoke to someone there and they told me it counts but from what could find on line says otherwise. I would need anyone with first hand info in this to tell me.
3. How can one stay back, assuming after your post study assuming you are unable to get sponsorship?

1. Go to school
2. Graduate and get post study visa.
3. Get a job and work permit (either critical skills or general work permit)
4. Stay on Critical skills Work permit for 2 years and upon completion apply for PR. Stay on general work permit for 4 years and upon completion apply for PR. Any time spent in the county legally counts towards citizenship
3. How can one stay back, assuming after your post study assuming you are unable to get sponsorship? You can self sponsor with just assistance from your company. It is hard for you not to get a job that keeps you here. What field are you looking at?
