Due to amateur errors.

SE is not filled with amateur players...

Put few players that press in the SE starting 11 and the SE will control the match then subbed in more pressing players.

Bring Nigeria's senior team defense and attack and combine it with our U20 midfield, and honestly I believe we'll fare better. I can't imagine people like Ayuma and Maigana choking so badly in this game the way Iwobi and Ndidi did.

Even in that loss to Argentina U-20, we didn't look as bad as we did yesterday against DRC. The difference is that our U-20 defense is trash from start to finish. Once the ball enter their 18-yard, otilor.

Please the federation should just go for an European coach preferably a Dutch or German coach . Clown Eric chelle blames Congolese voodoos for his teams inability to take adequate penalties hahahaha. Nigeria no need African or even Nigerian coach. Please get us a white coach
At worst SE needs a coach from Spain.

Chukwueze had no business getting sub at 57 mins
Removing Iwobi for Tolu was totally wrong
Removing the same Tolu for Awaziem was wrong
Ekong not coming in to take penalties was wrong

You think Chelle was all that and Mali will let him go
He is not a good coach
Let's stop deceiving ourselves
If you give mali another chance they will hire chelle again

If you watch the game yesterday, the game plan was on even in the first half the team was balance. Second half I didn't see oshimen again the game just change.. I don't really know what happen. But sincerely, it's not the coach fault. The game plan was distrusted. At that point he had just little to do

We'll bounce back from this. We needed this loss. For years, we've been using fanciful perfume to mask our pungent body odor without treating the root cause of the odor. Hopefully this spurs the FG to declare a state of emergency on our football. Losing back to back World Cups is no joke.

If Senegal and Morocco can suddenly dominate African football after being minnows for the entire 20th century and part of the 21st, why can't we?

I find it poetic though, that the two biggest African football powerhouses in Cameroon and Nigeria are currently in the doldrums.

TheLoneCitizen:
This season has shown me the how a true elite striker can really swing the fortunes of a team.

2023, Pep disrespects Tottenham by calling them the Harry Kane team.

2025, Table swings full 360 as Haaland scores over 60% of City's goal even more than Kane for Spurs in 2023.

When questioned about this overreliance, Pep accepts it and is happy.

If such can happen to a team manager like Pep, who am I to hate on Nigeria's overreliance on Osimhen.

It's just a shame he got injured at the biggest moment.

Everybody here at halftime were confident that Nigeria were superior and would dismantle Congo.
But once Osimhen goes off the whole team collapses.

Nigeria in the first 45 mins with Osimhen: 3 total shots
Nigeria in the 75 minutes without Osimhen: 1 total shot
Osihmen can’t be bailing us out all the time, he’s even the reason we came this far and he keeps doing his part. Even Yekini in his days was not scoring in every match and still we won games without him scoring for example in the Afcon final in 94. It’s a big indictment on the rest of our players especially the other attackers and midfielders if they can’t find the net without Osihmen. It shows they are at best average players. In 2013 Emenike was our point man and highest scorer but we had other players who could score and just like the 94 finals mbah not Emenike scored our winning goal in both quarter final and the final itself. That’s how balanced a team should be not everyone switching off because the main striker hasn’t scored. In fact we won Gabon in the previous match because ejuke turned up before osihmen found his mojo again. Truth is this team is deficient and can’t win in bigger moments. We need more quality and depth in the squad. National team football can be harder than club football and you need more than your point man in crucial games.

Na NFF cost this one sha. I remember he took NFF 4months if not more than to hire a substantial coach, they talk to former Swedish coach, even this other coach that has won the Nation cup with 2 different countries, at the end the NFF brought Finidi George. That's the point I know that Nigeria football is doom.

Exactly.

At this point, we need a TEAM first and foremost, then we can worry about the big names after. Having big names in the squad is important, but a cohesive team should come first. A star player is just icing on the cake.

Bro I kept dreaming that we replayed the match and we still didn't win... 😔

This loss go mess with me for sometime sha. But where has Éric Chelle got any blame in all these?

Now people are shouting that why didn't he play 4-4-2? The same people who were shouting "is 4-3-3 dead in football?" Chelle got his formation and selection perfect in this game, the players were just complacent and confused on the pitch. It's safe to say without Osimhen, the Super Eagles cannot function.

So now every game he didn't play up to 50 mins at least, we didn't manage to win one in the entire qualifying process? Akor and Tolu disappeared, no single shot from 2nd half to the the 2nd half of extra time.

The one chance Tolu got he headed it upwards. We played bad and this is NOT on Chelle. I pity the man in all these, why can't these players turn up for their coach and themselves? Why?

Nwabali saved a last minute shot, saved two penalties and players still decided to miss more than he saved. BROOO 🤦🏾‍♂️... I can't move on from this anytime soon. I just dey look sha 😐
Eric Chelle got his midfield combination wrong.
Why play Ndidi and Onyeka together, except your intention is to defend from the start of the game.

There were no balance of play in the midfield. Who shields the back four and maintains the positional discipline in carrying it out, who is primarily responsible for building play from the back, and which other midfielder can assist in building play from the back.

Our movement from the back to the advanced areas of the pitch towards goalscoring, lack the kind of midfielders to execute it.
These kind of midfielders must possess good ball distribution, can take on players, and must have good ball recovery, right movement and positional discipline.

The players that are very close to the aforementioned qualities are: Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Raphael Onyedika and Alhassan Yusuf.
We should build our midfield around these players, and scout for more players.

This boy looks like a Nigerian from those Cross River and Akwaibom axis, yet he was too mean to us yesterday. Dude was playing as if he had a personal akpor against us. He should be checked, he must be a Calabar man but angry that he could not make it to the eagles. Same way Omotoyosi used to play against us. I'm very angry. 😂😡

From Cameroon to Gabon, DRC, and Congo, many of them all look like our folks from the SE and SS part of Nigeria. Truth is, borders and colonization from different countries divide us; we are almost the same kind of people in looks, behavior, manners, tradition, food, and almost everything.

Our boys were scared of these guys yesterday. From the time I saw the boys coming out from the tunnel, through the national anthem session, something was just off and I could sense fear in the air.

DRC is the most physical side in Africa. Not even Uganda or Cameroon can match them in terms of physicality, now they have complimented that with some really good talents. I doubt we can hurt them even if we meet them again at the AFCON.

At a point, our boys were praying for the game to end so that the onslaught would stop. They dealt with us so mercilessly that we became clueless when we have the ball.

Am glad we getting the point .... slowly. If we had won the game yesterday though, am sure a lot of people will brag and say give us Argentina. We have been pampering the midfield crack since 2017. As much as I want to lash out at the players, I don't think I have the energy to be rehashing what people have said.

It is my hope that we stop this short term gains and actually plan for the growth of our Football. Dissolve NFF and all state FAs. Let fifa ban us indefinitely. Then we work our way using world best practices

I was just being economical with the analysis. Do you know that there are many Camerounians in Aba, but you can never tell them apart from Igbos and AkwaCross, but you can easily tell Igbos apart from people from South West and northern Nigeria.

Easily the most physical side, lol. Even their fans. Last night was the first time I've ever seen the Nigerian supporters completely overwhelmed in the stands. DRC were so loud and aggressive. Probably the only country that can match Nigeria pound for pound when it comes to noise and energy.

When I went to Gabon, I just felt I was in Port Harcourt; it was the French people speaking that made it look different. Geography is a true storyteller, just like when you go west of Nigeria towards Ghana and the Ivory Coast, many there also begin to look like our people from the west in terms of body build, dressing, food, and the rest.

Make all the African teams go to blazes. Senegal included.

Why root for them when ALL of them are comfortable joining hands together to root for our downfall?

The only thing that will satisfy me is the annihilation of African teams at the World Cup next year. I hope none of them makes it past the Round of 32.
