Agbalowomeri:We might not see an immediate rally but look at valuations in the banking sector. Zenith bank with no forbearance issue, no fx over hang, audited 6 month results that can be trusted is trading at a p.e of like 2.5, access in the same situation is trading at a p.e of like 2. My brother if this market like make e do wetin e wan do. Valuations in the banking are screaming only one story and I am very happy to hold at these prices. I am not bullish on the rest of the market but with regards to the banking sector I don't see us falling much further. Then again I am not investing with house rent or chop money so I can wait a very long time |

Calling a market bottom is a fool's errand. By the time you see a clear bottom, the uptrend is well on its way. Agbalowomeri: |

Commercial papers are discounted instruments: the interest is baked into the price of the CP. The difference between the discounted purchase price and the face value repaid at maturity is the investor's profit, or interest earned. The discount rate relates to the annualized discount on the face value: Discount = 10M face value * 18.34% over 365 days tenor = 1.834M So you actually invest 10-1.834 = 8.166M cash But at maturity, the issuer should pay you 10M face value (ignoring taxes and fees). The implied yield is the annualized interest rate you're earning on cash invested. It's just the simple interest rate (i.e., interest/principal, expressed as a percentage): So you'll earn 1.843M interest on principal of 8.166M invested over 365 days tenor Or 1.834/8.166 * 100 = 22.46% per annum. You use the implied yield to compare across different investment options. Note: The calculated implied yield may be slightly different than your 22.5% because some don't count holidays as interest-earning days. eziokwunwoko: |

Virtual currency now taxable, capital market gains remain tax-free —Oyedele punchng.com Government policies remains very funny. One minute it is this another minute it is that. I hate it when a policy has no clear cut direction. Are we actually doing a trial by error ? People had lost money in NGX by some useless pronouncement and they blame it on Trump. Well, i will still watch how this latest information will be percieved in the market. Nobody knows anything anymore. If you follow this route, they follow you too.
