You say that because you were not brainwashed from the point of your birth into believing that the world you were born into was ruled by men and that it is only by being chosen by those same men that your worth would be realized. Most of these women were also fed the lie that other women out there were competition and detractors fashioned against their goal of being chosen by a man. Heck, even their pastors and imams fill their heads regularly with stories of how they are supposedly the weaker sex, and that means they are nothing without a man in their lives. Loving themselves first takes a back seat to being loved by a man. That is the mentality behind most women who change even their bodies to please a man.

Try to imagine what life with that sort of mentality would do to you as a human being, and then maybe you will see that many of these women were really abused and degraded from a young age by those who were supposed to raise them into confident and mature individuals.

You're right, we all want something... For me, it's my hair, the older I get, the more I wish I had a 4C hair texture... I tried all the products I could find to give it a more 4C kinky look and even stopped using heat on it entirely, but nothing worked.

And after about a year of doing my hair myself, last month I decided that I was gonna take a break by going to the salon for a change, I got to the salon and waited in line for about five hours only for the hairstylist to start complaining of how my hair was too silky for her to work with, that had she known that my hair texture was 4A, she'd have turned me away the moment I entered the salon.

So I had no choice but to go back home, cry, and go back to doing my hair myself once again.
