We have never made the right decision! Even up to date, the FG never made the right decision.!
The only right thing that happened, maybe by providence or luck, is that Dangote built a functional refinery! That is our saving grace, which makes it seem as if the govt made a right decision.
I dont know how well you follow govt policy but two things happened after the #OccupyOjota Protests; firstly GEJ made funding for the Almajiri schools a priority and secondly they pushed for incentives to be given to Dangote, or anybody, to build a refinery.

The first was because the government realized that it would be next to impossible to develop the country given the level of ignorance the citizens displayed during the protests. And the second was a bid to give the country's economy a fighting chance when the collapse inevitably happened.

What you call luck is actually a well thought out plan to cushion the effect of the ignorance of the average Nigerian on economic policy.

Most Nigerians think their government is stupid/wicked when the reality is that the biggest problem we have as a nation is that Nigeria is a country where you have to fight/trick the people to help them.

Dangote refinery was never luck. It was well thought out policy

Thanks for your help, issue is sorted now.

The website looks like it was designed in 2003 though angry angry. The dashboard has nothing showing on it too. Asides seeing all your PO shares, any interesting actions one can perform on cscs?

mikeapollo:
Seems an account has been created using the CHN number
Call or email the customer service of CSCS; they would ask a few questions to verify ownership, and then they will give you the user name and password

Please, don't let us allude Dangote Refinery to any incentives from GEJ.
Several licenses for refineries were issued by FG but nothing came out of the exercise. There were no incentives to anybody. GEJ wanted to remove the subsidy but it was still based on importation of refined products with no end in sight.
Dangote took the decision to build his private refinery after the botched attempt to buy FG refineries. His initial destination was Ogun state but former Governor Amosun frustrated him, hence Governor Tinubu came in with more favourable terms and better cooperation. That is how he sited it in Lagos.
With the benefit of hindsight, GEJ's presidency was better than Tinubu's presidency (so far)., but GEJ did not give any incentives to Dangote refinery. Dangote himself has talked about the refinery many times and he always mentioned Tinubu as the person that identified with his vision to establish the refinery and he acknowledges him for that.
Like I used to say, Tinubu did well as governor, but he has failed as a president

My brother, let's focus more on substantive justice and let's not dwell too much on legal gymnastics and technicalities. Who is more of a terrorist between Kanu and the various Boko Haram, ISWP, Lakurawa people killing and kidnapping people all over the country? When they are arrested, some are even described as ''repentant'' and re-integrated back into the society and they end up being spies for these terrorists.
Yet, they sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment but allow the real terrorists to go scot-free.
I don't support Kanu himself because some of the strategy of IPOB actually harmed the people of South East e.g. sit at home, and there have been unnecessary bloodshed and killings in the region which is affecting their economy and development.
All the insecurity in the country is now affecting the NGX as well right now.
I support a Trump intervention. But the way kanu's case was handled is another matter. The judge was left with no choice. Don't blame omotosho! He was even lenient with the life sentence.
p.s. no mercy for terrorists. They all deserve to be unalived

This opinion is at huge variance from reality. Lets just agree that we are where we are and we should try and profit from where we are

It is a difficult period for some people.
Their messiah has been sent to life imprisonment, what they have bragged about was not possible .
The shock is real.
That is why they want the country to collapse.
Hopefully time will heal their wounds and they will get over the shock.

So many angry fellows in this forum lately.
Can we please channel this energy somewhere else?

We all came here for investment discussions, but the energy we're putting out isn’t right for this space. Money doesn’t like this kind of vibration.

Let’s keep things positive.
Wishing everyone a greenful and dirty December ahead. 💚💸
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by HesInMe: 5:15pm On Nov 24, 2025
It's okay to be negative on the market. Markets rise and fall all the time. People can make serious money shorting the market (or more likely, selling and parking your money in fixed income). The problem here is that people are directing negative energy about other matters to this forum. And I agree: that's not very helpful.

So Kanu did no wrong to you, Kanu was released after gathering people and making secessionist statements, after released on bail, he jumped bail and that is lawful too. He was in Kenya inciting arson of public infrastructures, making tribalistic statements. His followers where violating other Nigerians right to movement. Just felt Nigeria union should have been negotiable from unset. Ngx will thrive , and quite a lot of us, will grow our wealth to billions here. All your pessimism ok, all our optimistic views are ok too.

Me I buy when I have free money, 2015 people thought Goodluck won't concede, as Buhari start some bull start small in 2015 and 2018 too, life goes on. It not get rich quick, some of us own private business and have seen some deflation in prices, winners will keep winning and one day market will remember them until then, we spend some dividend and reinvest some. Doomsday is how my dividend income now matches 30% my annual income.

Between 1990 and 2010 China achieved an average annual growth rate of 9%. Between 2000 and 2015 Nigeria achieved an average annual growth rate of 7%.

We were on the path but there were two events that caused us to derail; first was stopping the government from removing fuel subsidy in 2012 and then the 2015 elections.

If we had gotten these events right then we would have been on the path but alas. Anyway Nation building takes decades and centuries so there is no rush
Annual growth rate with which metric? gdp or population growth rate?

There are many 'lazy' countries that dont work half as hard but have all the required infrastructure plus enough to care for elderly and others ...i dont think its all about work....quality education and people doing the right things matter alot .
Exactly, especially the middle eastern countries - Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait etc

He is right though. For example you can’t compare 9% of 100 billion to 7% of 100 million, they are worlds apart. Even the number you quoted i won’t call it progress. Why? Imagine in 2015 you owned a shop with goods worth 100k, 2016 you are now worth 107k, 2017 - 115k, 2018 - 122k. Would you think you are making progress?

You say “ Anyway Nation building takes decades and centuries so there is no rush”. Omo this is not the case for Nigeria. My great grand ma told my grand ma, that she doesn’t think Nigeria would get better that she (grand ma) should leave for UK. Then she was working in civil service, had a house, a car that was madt for that era. Now she says she is glad she listened. How many youths with jobs that can get them a proper monthly saving talk less of a house or a car?

Even my elders tell me, “I feel for your generation”. You people don’t have the opportunities we had. One of my elderly landlord bought the land for massive house with grant money he received from his employer almost immediately after graduation.

Nigeria need next 5 years no nonsense urgent plan type thing. Nigeria is like a 25 old man still in primary 4 and we are saying well at least he still in school.

No he didn't do me anything. It is possible he did to ur family. Which u have not told me how it happened. Ngx will only end up disgraced in a disgraced country. It will continue red till reality will set.And many igbos has spoken out he didn't do them anything. And if u don't agree. You can visit the 5 SE states and verify.

Let me ask u something. Did u see whr ur IG of police was negotiating with someone who killed his assistant commissioner. He came to the negotiating ground wearing his uniform/gun of the officer he killed. He even gave conditions that the police must not come to the place of negotiations on uniform. That is definition of doing something .

I am waiting to see how anyone can rewrite economic theories like this one
A disgraced nation will begot a disgraced economy which will begot a disgraced ngx.
It is thr in economic text books Na watin dey teach me for sch and street
