I saw somewhere that more people were killed in Sudan in one week of that war than were killed in the entire Gaza war, but because the people of Sudan are economically irrelevant in the world there was no outrage.

They are thinking long term and they realise that it is better to kill this crisis now rather than watch Northern Nigeria turn to another Afghanistan. The unfortunate truth is that both parties were wrong. The government went too far with the military raid, but Nnamdi Kanu was also culpable. He kept doing the very things his bail conditions forbade, fully aware that the government was unpredictable, he played straight into their hands.

You can’t be making serious threats when you have nothing to fight with. Look at people like Tompolo and others, they went full gangster with backing. Kanu had no such structure, not even militants at the time. A clever person would have exercised caution.

You can’t refuse to ‘play the game’ when you’re already inside it; you break out first, then create your own game.
