SDF @22.5%
SLF @27.5%

MPR @ 27% is very disappointing.
How do you believe that the committee will just go aggressive rate cut on something that they feel is working

Suspected it may be retained even though inflation has eased for the seventh consecutive month. I actually expected slight cut to around 25-26.

Few points I was able to gather from the session.

Before now we had a CDT act so unlike before where we had different tax acts and documents, we now have one signle law on anything tax.
Filings are to be done 2 times a year. June and December. Transactions that occur between Jan and June are to be filed in June, ditto for June to December in December.
CGT applies to gains in securities and capital market.
Loses can set off from other chargeable gains which means you can use losses from one asset sale to offset gains from another asset within the same assessment year. The old CGT law did not allow this until the act of 2020.
Non resident is liable to tax on gains made from Nigeria
The provision now also ensures that FDI also have to pay CGT even if they use SPV to run their business in Nigeria
One way to avoid paying CGT is to use the gains to buy another security within same calendar year irrespective of whether you made a gain of 10M or not.
Bonds and FG securities are still likely to be excempted
Timing your disposal can also help in reducing your CGT
You can use your loss making assets to offset your gains when you sell both within same period
Risked aversed people can focus more on dividend gaining asset since that dividends only attract 10% WHT
When filling your returns for CGT, all your refunds should provable. Contract documents come in place here
Same for when you reinvest.
Use all of those details to self declare your gains. Do not wait for the tax man to come and help you calculate.
Know what is taxable and not taxable, do not misclassify.
Crypto will also be liable to CGT
Identify Tax Exempt Table Income Portfolio abd assign more resources to them
Looks like even mutual funds are CGT taxaable (This one I was not clear on)
Thanks for sharing your summary.

If I interprete correctly, so we will now have to submit tax returns every 6months? twice per year? huh
This market will lay low for a while. undecided

Let them keep one stance na.

If they moved up aggressively while inflation was uptrend. Why not maintain that same stance?

At peak inflation MPR was 700bps below inflation rate, if they went with that, MPR should be at 9% today.

But it's a good thing they adjusted the corridor effectively delivering a 200bps cut!

SDF and SLF rates are the real rates and each went down by 200bps. I'll take that.

Ultimate goal is for fixed income yields to drop back to single digits!

200bps cut on MPR while maintaining the previous corridor is actually the exact same thing with today's outcome. But cutting the MPR outright does better signalling which is why it would have been preferred.

There are a few more NTB PMA to watch this year. If they take 364-day discounts below 14% that too would be impressive as we enter Q1.

If the bi-annual filing talk is true, it won't be unique to CGT, It would be PIT in general. So even people who don't play on the NGX would have to file as frequently.

But what I heard is actually March 31st of the next year and it's only once a year filing.

My brother, please let us keep politics out of this group.

If you feel the government is a failed one, please take it to the politics thread, there are many people that can engage you there.

You are an elder. You know what happened to StockMarketNigeria.com.

If people that feel otherwise engage with you, you know this thread will be derailed.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by PuristForest: 4:55pm On Nov 25, 2025
I recently rewatched MNK/DM interview and i think that interview was what may have set him up , you cant be dividing a soverign nation and standing by it on a public forum like youtube and DM was very crafty in his questioning, getting him to be very specific in certain areas. His take on Jubril clone too was also very extreme, even though a british former parliamentarian initiated the death tweet, which is still unfounded, MNK did not mix words about it.......knowing the kind of person PMB was, he may have personally requested this end for him.
ositadima1:
1. Bail (2017)
He was granted bail with strict conditions.

2. Bail Conditions
Restrictions included:
* no interviews
* no rallies or mass gatherings
* no inflammatory statements
* no association with groups deemed security threats

These were intended to limit his influence pending trial.

3. Violations
He deliberately violated the conditions by:
* holding rallies
* giving radio broadcasts
The violations were open and intentional.

4. Escalation of Rhetoric
His language shifted to proto-insurgency, this escalation alarmed federal authorities.

5. Operation Python Dance II
The operation was launched not merely for bail breaches but because intelligence suggested IPOB was shifting from agitation → mobilisation → potential militarisation.
The bail violations served as a convenient pretext.

6. Military Raid
The raid on his home was a deliberate attempt to disrupt and decapitate the movement , a political–military action, not a judicial one.

7. Flight
He fled after the raid and resurfaced in the UK.
Legally, this constitutes bail jumping, regardless of the circumstances.

The economy has taken its toll on VFD despite being a good company and stock price.

UBA hasn't commented on theirs(if it's good news, it won't hide). But I believe they are filling left overs behind doors.

TIP and PRESCO...we watch.

If FCMB with all the Gbasgbos succeeded in being oversubscribed and even wanting to both increase and extend the offer value and time frame respectively.

In as much as I respect ur opinion. It is not everything one says should be politics and be removed from here.Can we really seperate government or good governance from the economy. And is the stock market not a part of the macro economy of a country. A TA guy comes here to make his call based on things I don't even believe. I make my call based on what the street tells me .If I come here and say the government is doing well and the ngx will hit the roof. I guess nobody will complain. Is that not double standard.
I will make my call based on the tools I use and let people deal with it.I did it with last president and it didn't bring war..So why can't I do it with this one based on recent development. Why was it ok when I was calling for bull earlier this month. Was this how we received attack during gej as president

Many of those PO and RI will fail unless the management have underwriters waiting within the top management like the case of uba or maybe presco. Then again they may not be happy buying at premium based on floor price .They will now look for ways to collect it back from shareholders using engineering accounting in thr future results

Why I wrote behind the scenes.

But FCMB surprised me..

True sha. it will be PIT across board. But FPI that are CGT exclusive will feel it differently.

Seems Afriinvest is interpreting differently or "suitably" for their clients
