HesInMe:1. don't speak out of bias dude! Cos you own Presco shares .. go check the laws. Anyway, seems the governor didn't revoke the land but he has powers to do so. you saying oil wells are not more profitable than palm oil seems preposterous and even if I assume so for the purpose of argument (assuming but not conceding), oil wells will serve the public interest at the end of the day hence "overriding public interest" justification as provided by the law.. |

Toluway:Oyedele should quit Accounting and start working in PR. ![]() Only a PR Maestro could spin a 200% INCREASE in tax into a headline about tax REDUCTION. Pure MAGIC! Also, he seems to gloss over the fact that ANY reduction would have ZERO impact on INDIVIDUAL investors. The reduction he's talking about is tied to a reduction in CIT. Not PIT. So, individual investors are still left with the BURDEN of increased CGT. Speaking of the reduction, here's another thing from the article: "We had written the CIT review for 25 percent into the law, but the governors refused it, so we found a way to add it to the law with a condition to get approval of the governors under the National Economic Council (NEC)." Someone needs to ask Oyedele what has changed since the GREEDY GOVERNORS rejected the reduction. The governors who REJECTED the reduction are still the same governors in power today and early next year. Yet Oyedele left it in as a PR talking point. Touting it everywhere like it's a GIVEN. Man is a PR SPECIALIST. |

mikeapollo:Again CGT really no longer exists, it's been subsumed by CIT and PIT. There's already provision to reduce CIT to 25% next year, hence the reason capital gains will be taxed at that rate cos it'll be reckoned as part of CIT. |

Raider76:The biggest mistake Oando would ever make is to get involved in any NNPC refinery matter! They should stay clear and avoid the controversies, conspiracy theories, misinformation, politicking, etc that such move would bring. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 10:53am On Nov 27, 2025 |
awesomeJ:For individuals, the relevant law is PIT, and there is nothing to suggest that a 25% flat rate is consistent with the new law or even the existing PIT rates. |

Some people will claim they are fighting for a better Nigeria where companies can thrive and n generate wealth for her investors but will be happy at any slight bad news even though they are not verified. I wondered the difference between them and the people they claimed are the problems of the state. Where is integrity? Just thinking out loud ![]() |

crownprince2017:People are not really happy at the bad news; but they believe that bad things are happening because matters are not being handled properly in the nation e.g. injustice, bad governance (in principle) or a particular bad govt (i.e. politics). If citizens are cared for, happy, motivated and appreciated, they will always defend their country/govt. |

Acess Banks makes gross earnings of N40bn every 3days, yet they're planning EGM to just approve PP of N40bn. Pa Emma thinks because you earn, you don't need to raise more capital for growth. It must be that PRESCO has not be earning for them to be raising funds via RI. By the way, I think the people who named that instrument Rights Issue are conny. Cos if makes people feel good to say they're taking their rights even if they get to pay unnecesary premiums. |

Streetinvestor2:Smart investors make money in bad or good government, devaluation or no devaluation. It seems you do not care anymore if this thread is destroyed, maybe because you are not meeting your investment target. That goes to show you are not much different from the people you critise. So because things are not going your way, you want to bring the thread down. There is a politics section where you can vent. You are an elder, show maturity. |
