Thank God for Atlass and Morgan, this sort of downtime would have cost me more than double the national minmum wage.

talking about minimu m wage though it's interesting to find that even though igerian Naira and South Korean Won are worth exactly thesame, minimum wage in Sout Korean is over 2million per month compared to 70k in Nigeria.
Interesting and insightful

You better don't underestimate the high number of mentally unstable people in Nigeria.
Sadly, many of them are using phones and comment online.
I was shocked at the number of people well dressed, looking normal and taking anti-depressant drugs when I paid someone a visit at a federal psychiatric hospital

I closed most of my positions as I expected a correction.

However, I did not expect Oando to decline when the correction happens.

For this reason, Oando is the only stock I am holding with my full chest.

Its performance has been a shocker to me (and my portfolio).

The reasons I bought it when I was closing other positions are as follows:

1. Strong growth potential (driven by acquisitions and political moats)
2. Very cheap valuation. This combined with no 1 above is a recipe for multibagger performance.
3. Proposed equity capital raise at N50. Using banks as precedents, a rally may occur (e.g fidelity, GTCO, e.t.c. with price appreciation of more than 100% post capital raise.
4. Conversion of debt to equity plus capital raise to boost the company's balance sheet and make its book value positive.

Last last, the stock's performance rubbished my analysis grin grin grin

For newbies, this does not mean that analyses do not work. Instead, it shows that analysis gives you about 70% probability to be right (not an assurance)

Cheers guys

Then why still holding the stock if it has failed your fundamental analysis? The core reason you bought it since you wrote it rubished your valuation
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmaodet: 12:29am On Dec 05, 2025
iskalamong:
That applies to Nigeria though.

You see such stocks appreciating significantly during bulls.

However, in developed markets, such companies could go bankrupt or lose 90% of their values overnight e.t.c.

They are extremely risky.

I think the reason for that is the fact that you can take short position easily and there is high liquidity.

Here (on the NGX), its all long with very little or no shorts. Hence, you might easily get away with buying them blindly (most times).

Cheers!

Iskalamong!
Yes. You are right.
Applying that strategy in foreign/US market will likely lead to disaster

The fundamentals are still in place

Its the market sentiment that is not favourable.

The company's most recent quarterly financial was okay.

Fantastic profit growth and EPS number.

It reinforced the cheap valuation.

My point is that, the market is selling instead of buying (negative market sentiment)

You have too much of Know-all mentality and that's not very good.
The achievement of the OP is something worth commending but here you are trying to play it down.

awesomeJ:
Whom are you really directing this very long post to?
You've found a strategy that works for you, all you have to do is stick with it.

On my part, note that I didn't say you were lucky, I only said "Given he limited context you shared, maybe yours was more luck than NCR being a sound company" Then I asked you to give more context which you did, so that should do.

When you sit in your small mindset thinking your boring strategy is the only one that works, commenting on trading strategies you're completely clueless about then you're not being very smart, smartness implies you realize that you don't appraise what you're a novice at.

The N3.5m you waited 5 years to make, only takes me abot 1 month to make. CONSISTENTLY!

You waited 5 years to make 2000% on a holding that you were only comfortable putting less than 1% of your portfolio on, meaning what you're celebrating only added 20% to your portfolio in 5 years.

If I assume I had N1m in January, Then my portfolio is already up 3000% in one year. My overall portfolio!

if i say it's 100k, then it's 30,000% in year, compare that to your mediocre 20% and rest

I actually had -N5m at thestart of this year. Much less than 100k. I wasn't broke, I just was cash strapped.

Go on YouTube to start learning the basics on trading, you should understand in 6 hours or less.

I think you have a comprehension problem.

Or maybe you didn't read all the posts on the conversation.

If you understand my posts(which are quite easy to understand), you would realize I never downplay anyone's achievement. My opinion is that everyone should stick to what they understand.

But the guy clearly thinks because he made 2000% off 1% of his portfolio after waiting for 5 years, then he's the only one that has a working strategy.

I just had to give him the correct perspective so he can calm down. That's not downplaying his achievement.

If you didn't have a silly bias, you would obviously see that he's the one who thinks trading doesn't work, simply because he's completely clueless on successful trading strategies.

No man can rightly predict this market. That you have a stock that suddenly gave you a beautiful % gain does not mean your portfolio florishes. I am sure you also have some stocks that you are seriously lagging. For one not to be misled, a story should have the pros and the cons ( true jornalism). If we only listen to the sweet side of every story, one will be misled. What i have come to learn in my little years in the stock market is that nothing is foolproof. If there were really certainty in the market, ones portfolio will just be one or two stocks heavily loaded. There will not be any need for diversification. Only one road does not enter a market. The last 24hrs in NSEMPA had been agog with who is right or who is wrong. I believe everyone is right. Just sieve the story and not swallow every hook line and sinker.

Lesson learnt: The best strategy is to go for what works for you. No point in trying out all strategy.

Question to the house:
Please, what does it generally take for a broker like Meristem to assign a dedicated account officer or offer access to more tailored services such as specialized products, detailed research reports, or reduced fees?

Is there a specific portfolio threshold that typically qualifies a client for that level of attention? If yes, what ballpark range are we talking about?

I’m currently not satisfied with the level of service I’m receiving, especially considering the fees and I’m wondering whether it’s simply because my portfolio, while modest, is within the upper double-digit millions.

Are there brokers out there who provide stronger client engagement and better support for investors in that range? I’m beginning to feel like I may be too small for Meristem and might get better treatment elsewhere if I move.
thanks in advance

If you are not happy with their service get another broker. Its not by force to use them

Good morning my Brothers and sisters.
Xmas bull is starting today even though today is Friday known as the red day but the power is conquered.

Only those who are bullish will enjoy it.

Those who see Ngx as disgraced will not enjoy it .

Enjoy

From my experience Investment One customer service is excellent. With Bamboo the customer service is kinda rubbish in my opinion. But then again the amounts I invest on Bamboo is probably less than the transaction fees I pay on Investment One so they may just not value my business
