That's what they do..you know naturally an average ibo man is very proud. They sometimes use it to brag among themselves who takes good care more or lavish more extravagantly on thier wives.

You will see the man driving keke from 5am till 11pm daily looking worn out, stressed, haggard but thier wives will be shining changing attire daily, like they just came to life to live it for thier wives. ...what a culture is annoying .

Most of these so called wives are not even faithful they go around fvcccking for money from one odogwu to another esp the xmas season ....using thier deadbeat husband's money to clean up for bigger clients.

I know them very well.
Haah. I think the problem comes from knowing not knowing how to properly relate. At the risk of sounding tribal, I think the Igbos are not very good at relating. They don't relate well; they are quite impatient and simply try to use money to cover up for that weak spot.

I've stayed back and watched Igbos try to negotiate for Anioma. Try to negotiate for SS joining Biafra. Try to negotiate for more support for Obi. All have fallen flat. Ive seen a number of them how they relate with women too. If things don't go their way, next thing na to call the girl akunakuna. Impatience, they have it in abundance too. All these imperfections are what I think they use money to cover up for.

Wetin una really want, Nigerian men? Una want women that will be submissive, dedicated, faithful and overlooking una philandering and all that. Yet you want her to make her own money and build a career. Don't you guys know that independency comes at a cost? A man is meant to take care of his family (wife and kids). You can't be rich and your family members are wretched. Love and giving go hand-in-hand.
Maybe you should present yourself differently to come across Nigerian men (like me for example) that don't need women that are submissive or overlook our philandering because we don't philander.

Women can build a career and will be supported by men to do so, different from what the anti is saying, she just wants to be lazy and take, take, take without lifting a finger.

Sometimes we should be charitable and considerate towards our women. It's not easy being a woman in a patriarchal society like ours. There are few opportunities for able bodied men, talkless for females. Society made them what they are today...if our women are turning out bad, then know that fathers have failed in parenting.

It seems most women now a days have failed to realize that this age is different from our grandparents' when there was gender discrimination. Today, men and women have equal work opportunities, so I don't see why the man should remain the bread winner, otherwise we should revert to the old traditions of sidelining women in society so that we the men can have all the wealth creating opportunities to ourselves in addition to the responsibility of being sole breadwinners. Then only will the word of this woman count; biases aside.

DyshApp:
A Nigerian lady has stirred intense debate online after sharing her opinion that a man’s financial success should be visible through the appearance and lifestyle of the woman he is with.

The lady made this known while being featured in the Honest Bunch podcast.

In her argument, she stated that a man who is doing well financially naturally ensures that his partner looks good, is well taken care of, and reflects his level of prosperity.

She pointed out that in some Igbo communities, men are known for dressing modestly, sometimes appearing in very simple clothing.

However, she added that observers often look at the wife to determine whether the man is truly wealthy, as her appearance typically reveals the family’s financial status.

“A man’s money should reflect on his woman. It shows you are doing well.

In Igbo land , you’ll see a man wearing a short nicker and looking anyhow but if you want to know he’s rich, look at his wife”
Scam

I disagree with this your submission..we are far more considerate to women these days than even children. On the contrary men are the ones been marginalised in today's society.i will prove it.

- In churches there widowers and there are widows, but most times after service what you hear is all widows should wait after service cos they want to give them goodies in the same church were you have widowers with children but they are never considered.

- In Universities, when I was in school you will be beaten by man 'o' war or security or get embarrassed as a man if you enter female hostel before the required visiting time ...same rule was given to the ladies too visiting time 4pm but we have countless of cases of ladies flaunting these rules spending almost the full day in boys hostel and nobody is making big a deal out of it.

I can go on and on....is it in the area of employment, check most job vacancy .,you see sales girls only, Vacancy...female only, more females in banks, hotels, name but a few the only area you see more male is in area were hard or manual labour is required ..hard work Job...soldiers, bricklayer, go to mtn, glo major offices women dominate, customer care women.

Fashion: A woman can comfortably put on a man's complete attire and nobody will raise an eyebrow, but go put on a woman's blouse and complete attire and walk pass the street of Agege and you will see things for your self.

A woman can even cut are hair to Bald head and go to church with it uncovered, go to interview with it e.t,c and nobody will say a word, but let a guy plaits weaving and goes to church, some churches that will allow you in, will never put you at the front row and even fathers, mothers name it will start gossiping you seeing u as irresponsible.

Can you plait your hair and go for a corporate job interview like bank or even spray your hairs a bit ...but women can decide to dread, abolo, sprayed hair, use head tie, face cap name it and go to church or that interview.

I can go on and on .....so please cut that BS you are talking about,.....women are beginning to have it thier way now...its now a female world, .....

statements like this are part of the problem i have with the influx of Ibos and their value system into yorubaland. It is a given that a man must take care of his wife and children but that money must reflect on a woman is an ibo thing. Flamboyance for flamboyance sake or to display wealth for the sake of it is an ibo thing, that you must see the wealth of an ibo man in his wife is your thing, it's not our way.

It is quite common in yoruba land for the wife to be the one with money because in yorubaland, the status of a yoruba man is in his occupation, thats why you will see yoruba men who are professionals or civil servants and their wives are business women. if you introduce a friend to a typical yoruba father, the first thing he will likely ask you is what work does your friend do or what work does his gfather do? not how much money do you have. Thats also why you will see yoruba names that refer to their occupations like Agbede (ironsmith) . Like i said it is normal in yoruba man for the wife to be the one with the moeny or richer than the husband because it is usually the women who are the traders/business women.

It is something I grew up with and noticed. To an extent, even with a mother who is not Igbo, it got passed on to my sister. However, after observing how we have more Igbo ladies espousing Ndi ifeminisini rhetoric, I consider it an archaic tradition. The men are not benefiting anything if the women they toil for so much reward them by having female children who behave like men and fight men every day. Since children at an early age tend to be closer to their mother, it makes sense to show off your money on women who don't breed young women who fight men for a living.

The man's money will reflect on her... while her own money will reflect in her bank account.
Let's face it: its not like the women point a gun to the head of men... most nigerian men are naturally stupid and have no self-worth. We tend to feel so miserable that we almost consider it a taboo to evn spend on ourselves and look like true human beings.
Man go make small rabba, next thing hin go dey look for na how to shower it on a woman who never loved him when he was without it. Who do us like this, o God! cheesy

Since you mentioned churches, I guess you must be a Christian or a church goer. Now, go and read the Bible and understand that women are considered as the "weaker vessels" for some reasons. and hence they are to be protected by any sane society. In the Bible for instance, widows were always considered and mentioned because as women, they are more vulnerable than men that lost their wives. A man can easily remarry anytime he pleases and make babies soon after, but you can't say the same about women.

In developed nations, they have laws that protect their women, as it should be, because women are the weaker vessels by every standard. As for job opportunities, there are jobs that are suitable for girls because of their nature and all that...for instance, we have more female models than males, for obvious reasons.

Hating women or marginalizing women is akin to self hate. Go and check , any society that puts down women always ends up as a wicked society. If you have a daughter you will understand better. If you think our women are misbehaving, then know that we have bad fathers.

SpencerForbes:
My take is simple: Mother and Wife are the only two women entitled to your finances. Your girlfriend is entitled to her father's money, period. She should redirect her financial requests to her dad.

If you are financially comfortable, feel free to spoil your wife (not your girlfriend), but always draw the line. Don’t be so kind that she mistakes you for a fool and begins to exploit your willingness to provide.

So, technically, her assessment is correct.
Your Daughter na? Your money no go reflect on your daughter(s)? These are the issues... Na those kind daughters go dey find boyfriend money to reflect on them

Studies have revealed that relationships favor men more than women and married men or generally men in relationships thrive much better than single men do. This is because women pour their emotional, mental and physical labor into such relationships to the benefit of the men. Married women do not thrive as well as single women do, by the way. undecided

You ask of women reflecting on men and family, I suggest you Google many of these studies and read them for yourself to learn how women have been reflecting for the longest, the vast majority without remuneration for their efforts. undecided
