You think seplat is struggling to get buyers? Do you know how much of their production is already pledged to Exxon?

You tell monopoly story in a context where it matters? what's the business of a company whose future productions are already sold with whether another player enjoys monopoly.

If you're a refinery with 20m of crude in inventory, a $10 fall in crude prices will eatly badly into your already slim margins, may even push you to a loss for the quarter.

Your perspectives are valid though, you can make your investment decisions based on them
Don't get me wrong. I only added a few perspectives based on the possible SEPLAT $50 and DR $10 margins you mentioned..
The price of crude oil would affect DR and SEPLAT differently because; it is an input (raw material) for DR, and final (finished) product for SEPLAT, hence a fall in its price would benefit DR more, and an increase would benefit SEPLAT more, all things being equal.

While SEPLAT has ready buyers, DR has market monopoly which it can always exploit to achieve its target, that is my point.

Anyway, let's hope both companies do very well so we all can benefit.

Exactly, sounds like we'll hold both stocks just in varying proportions.

Market that could hit 180k in January solely on basis of news of CGT suspension
That would be good but very unlikely grin

How about the scale of operation? Dangote operates at a scale no one else in the world can boast of.

awesomeJ:
not likely.

one has a slim margin, the other has a bigger margin which has just gotten even bigger now.

SEPLAT can make close to $50 gross earnings per barrel, the refinery? maybe less than $10.

There are other dynamics like refinery making money whether the oil market is bullish or bearish (if they manage their inventory well)

Which is unlikely?

The 180k, the suspension or both?

180k is not unlikely.

Market will hit 180k in January 2026.

Yes.
Dangote currently does about 4x seplat's volumes.

So as long as seplat's margins are more than 4x DR's they will have bigger earnings.

DR has the FZE advantage though, while SEPLAT still has to battle taxes (higher taxes at least).

If I had thought of satellite phones I would not have posted this.

And now Musk is moving to make starlinks accessible through the Sim of his partner companies inserted in any phone or device.
If he had not one cent in his life previously, this alone could make him WORLD richest all over again, at least until other competitors catch up.
