awesomeJ:OK I get the game You try to win more. Do you see yourself taking the kind of risk you do on some trades if your fund is in billions. Or you become more selective on stocks u buy to mitigate any south movement in a day Like I did with insurance stocks. I through in 2.or 3 million in some but cannot put 20 or 30 million in those particular stocks |

Streetinvestor2:The idea is to grow with the market. 5 years ago, the market used to do N200bn a month, I would celebrate N20m per month then. Now the market has grown 5x to about N1trn monthly, I've grown 15x to about N300m monthly. N1bn is something today's market can easily absorb. With N1bn, the only thing is that I may end up doing just N3bn in monthly trades (3x turnover) compared to over 7x turnover I currently do. Also the only risk in my trades is risk of trading low volumes (like trading less than N5m) in an entire day. even that just only translates to small profits not losses. Thank God. |

Streetinvestor2:He probably buys all the liquid, high-cap stocks and then hopes that, on average, the winners will balance out the losers. Over the last one or two years, that would have been profitable. When the market starts correcting, we’ll see how it goes on average, lol. |

awesomeJ:You can't be serious about guaranteeing returns ![]() |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 5:59pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
SonofElElyonRet:Why not? It would be a win win. If I know I can make 300% in one year, even if the next 2 years are 0%. I can easily pay 40% for 3 years and still have another 180% for myself. The thing about the guaranteed 40% is that they won't get anything above that too in years when the average investor makes over 100%. So it's 40% no more, no less, regardless of market conditions. |

ositadima1:You do realize that you don't have to give an explanation to something you have no idea about right?? Maybe it's better you go back to believing the numbers aren't real 😁😁 |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 6:07pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
awesomeJ:It’s not an explanation; it’s a guess. That’s how I would trade the market, but it’s high risk and can give back all the profits, and more, if it gets out of control. I don’t think there’s any magic in all this. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 6:09pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
It would be 200% in 5 years. Sophisticated investors like Agba that made over 500% in the past 5 years would not find it attractive. Those who held dollars and made 300% in the past 5 years might consider it given that the likelihood of another 300% (naira at 6k by 2030) is low Then the vast majority of people doing 18% p.a or 90% will probably take it. Especially when fixed income yields crash to single digits. |

Ordinary People Achieving Extraordinary Things in NSEMPA The world, including our beloved Nigeria, is filled with ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary feats through determination, patience, and smart decisions. I remember back in 2017 when I began real-life investing with just ₦5,000. Before that time, I lacked confidence in navigating the stock market and often sought validation from others. The NSEMPA thread on Nairaland was incredibly welcoming in those early days. It felt like a community where investors celebrated wins together and navigated volatility as a team. There was no aggressive promotion of questionable stocks for XMAS ram—just genuine sharing and support. It was a peaceful space that attracted many readers and active participants. Sadly, things have changed. Today, envy, doubt, and condemnation often dominate the discussions. The influx of younger generations (Gen X and Z) has contributed to making the forum more toxic. Imagine someone on an anonymous and faceless platform trying to inspire others by sharing their journey, only to face demands for full portfolio details or accusations of "showing off." The Bible highlights envy as one of the things the Lord detests (Proverbs 6:16-19 lists seven abominations, including a proud look and sowing discord, which often stem from envy). Neutral observers can easily spot this on the NSEMPA forum. Some even dismiss genuine success stories as mere luck or market manipulation. For the record, negative comments do not discourage me. I will continue sharing my success stories to motivate others. 2025 has been a year full of valuable lessons for investors. The markets faced extreme uncertainty: intense daily volatility, prolonged bull runs, periods of forbearance, the introduction of capital gains tax, and other challenges. The key lesson I've learned is to ignore the noise and let "Mr. Market" do what it does best—fluctuate unpredictably. This same patient strategy has served me well in foreign markets. In 2025 alone, my international portfolio endured over 20 significant downturns, triggered by events like escalating tariff wars, the Israel-Iran conflict, weak US job reports, government shutdown threats, deepfake scandals disrupting stocks like NVIDIA, concerns over an AI bubble, market correction, Trump vs Musk war, and leadership shifts in Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway holdings. Through it all, I stood firm—like the Rock of Gibraltar—and never sold my holdings. At one point, my portfolio was down by $22,000, but I remained unshaken. The golden rule? Never sell at the peak of panic during a downturn. Fast forward to today: As I write this on Christmas Eve 2025, my foreign portfolio has grown to $205,000, while my NGX made an unrealised gain of over N85M today. This proves that ordinary people like me can achieve extraordinary results through discipline and long-term thinking. Don't give up. You could be the next success story—like Mr. Nosa, Mr. Emmanuel, Madam Mercy, Mr Agbalowomeri or even my humble self. And when that happens, the skeptics will definitely say it was impossible, just luck, or demand proof, claiming it was manipulation. This is a brief celebration of ordinary Nigerians turning into extraordinary investors in our beautiful nation. For the record: Keep investing wisely, stay patient, and focus on your own journey. Merry Christmas! But the butcher refused to show up today for my Presco goat, telling me he is going to come on 26th December. No prob, i would wait for him to do the needful. |

awesomeJ:I already have something similar, though with a lot of checks. It trades a maximum of 10 stocks and rebalances every month. It’s up 35%, even though I started just three months ago. I’m currently testing it with ₦3 million. That said, I know it’s probably just riding the good times we’re in. |

ositadima1:Good for you. Keep refining. If it's blessed, you will start seeing it as completely risk free. Also since it was green in November, it might be better than you think. There aren't many months that are worse than November 2025 over the past 5 years. |

Still a lot of room for growth. Still a lot of money to be made. The real bull will come when we have stability, then investors will start pricing our market as emerging and not as distressed as they are doing right now The best is yet to come.

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 7:21pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
If you build the product exclusively for HNIs it becomes easier to scale the approval hurdle with SEC @SonofElelyonRet |

awesomeJ:So are the underlying assets in this fund you are planning to have? Are you sure he can't meet up with these requirements?

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 7:26pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:Still doesn't make it an equity fund. You do mutual funds so you should know this. There are bond funds that have equity exposure, there are balanced funds , there are Guaranteed income funds. Then there are equity funds. Maybe our market will finally wake up/advance to a level where you can just walk up to a bank, the SEC or the exchange and have them create a non existent investment product just for your own strategy. Like how credit default swaps were created for that Doctor by Goldman simply cos he asked for it. But here we are still not even able to do something as basic as margin lending. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 7:28pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:These requirements are even easier than for a microfinance bank. If that's all it took, I could get the license in 3 years or less. But AI is probably hallucinating rubbish, so I'd rather expect something tougher. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 7:31pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
awesomeJ:In short you are doing a balanced fund, with a mixture of equities, fixed income and money market. We do margin lending in Nigeria for traders and investors, but their is no fund approved by SEC that does margin trading |

awesomeJ:Just that the custodians of the fund are the fund Trustees, the fund managers only invest the funds |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 7:34pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:It exists is different from it being prevalent. How many brokers do you know offer it in this market without any restrictions on your Portfolio. I've been asking Morgan for it since 2021, their excuse is that the SEC suspended it. Talk to a bank, they start looking like stock trading is like forex that nobody understands. The fact that you get it doesn't mean it's prevalent o. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 7:40pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:You're talking more about asset managers. My product requires a hedge fund license. Typically, I won't be allowed to have clients below a certain amount in net worth. Only HNIs, but I'm not exactly sure what the sec regulations on those are. My guess is that they'll be boring, given that the entire market sef is still boring. So many instruments still missing. Imagine if Agba could buy options and finally short his GTCO, would he be doing boring fix deposits. Those guys on customs Street are just sitting in suits and A. C being comfortable with a market of 230 million people doing just $10m per day. When we should be doing up to $1bn daily if market was deep and advanced enough. It's only to be celebrating boring T+2. Something that's mostly just updating one line of code , changing compliance rules and updating cron jobs. Is that why we are here ![]() |
