awesomeJ:Unfortunately there is no license for a Hedge Fund in Nigeria. You can't have a Hedge Fund in Nigeria, but subscribers to the fund must understand the risks involved and the fund is not regulated by SEC |

awesomeJ:How can you do margin trading and no restrictions on your portfolio. If you are a shareholder of the Stockbroking firm will you like that The best you can get is that if you have a portfolio of N100 million of acceptable stocks, your Stockbroker can give you an additional N100 million as a margin loan. Meaning the total portfolio ie your contribution and the loan is now N200 million, but you can't pull out a Kobo from the portfolio but you can trade. But if the the total value of the portfolio comes down to N150 million due to trading charging and depreciation of stock prices, there will be a margin call and the Stockbroker will be forced to get their loans and accumulated interest So at the end of the day you might go home with N30 million down from your initial N100 million |

emmanuelewumi:Imagine. How can an entire country not have hedge fund license. Thank God I'm still young sha. I will still enjoy maturity in this market before I retire. At least 10 years after Agba has retired to the beach. |

leo1234:😁😁😁 When others see 1354% in stocks like NCR. I hardly see 5% o. So let everyone stock to what works. |

awesomeJ:You can have your Hedge Fund, your friends and family who believe in you can subscribe to it. You have your Memorandum of Understanding but you can't market the product to the public |

Streetinvestor2:Person wey dey find margin loan to trade stocks but no want make stockbrokers out a restriction on his stockbroking. Na that kain person go wan drop the document of his house. Me I no dey accept house document sef, you fit go report to the land registry that you house document was stolen. So you better involve a lawyer and a property professional if you want to accept house document as a collateral security |

Streetinvestor2:Ghana inflation rate in November is 6.3% . I don't know much about Malawi. It does look like Ghana is doing a lot of things right , and there is a relative stability in Ghana right now compared to Nigeria. |

emmanuelewumi:Yes. Just not scalable. We need to develop depth in this market. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:35pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:You don't understand what I meant by restriction. What you described where you can trade and withdraw as long as your balance is above 200% of the facility, that's not restriction. Restriction would be placing lien on my portfolio altogether. Then those who don't do that charge high brokerage which is a bigger restriction. I never said setting a balance threshold while I can trade freely above the threshold and with low fees, I never said that's a restriction, you assumed it. |

awesomeJ:Become an influencer, if you have just 10,000 followers your proposed Hedge Fund will fly. The problem be say you can't advertise it to the public and even your followers. But if you dey show workings your followers will beg you to accept money from them so that you invest it in your fund even though it is not regulated by SEC they will be ready to damn the consequences |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:40pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:You don't seem to understand my point. The market needs to grow way beyond your basic style of buy, hooooold, sell. It makes no sense for an entire country not to license hedge funds, it shows lack of sophistication. I don't need your advice on how to build a fund, what is needed is for you to realize that financial markets have advanced way beyond dividends and coupons which are the only old school things you seem to know. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 8:42pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
awesomeJ:There is a lien on your account in that set up, you will have to migrate from direct payment into your bank account. For Meristem, they will open a new stockbroking account that will bear your name and their name. There are also restrictions on the stocks you can buy. United Capital also offer that. For me sha, if I have a portfolio of N100 million, I will only borrow maximum of N30 million against the portfolio. With this I can sleep well at night and margin call is almost impossible |

awesomeJ:I don't disturb myself on what I don't have power over There are other sophisticated markets where we have Hedge Funds. You may decide to have your Hedge Fund in those market Even though we don't have a registered Hedge Fund in Nigeria. Ololo had something of that nature about 20 years ago and had billions of Naira under management because people trusted his knowledge, experience and most importantly his influence on the market. |

awesomeJ:Maybe in other countries. Not this naija when many yahoo people full everywhere. You can even see we have so many yahoo people in this thread now unlike before. A country whr many lack integrity and trust. No bro we never reach that level |

With the right tutelage and mentorship from Ololo, anyone interested in having a Hedge Fund should be able to have one in Nigeria |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:47pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:I can live with all these terms. As long as I can trade at 0.5% brokerage and with that caladata platform. Those two are important. I remember trying to trade with a platform built by infoware back in june I saw shege. It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for my strategy to succeed on such a boring platform. Imagine no real time streaming of market trades, if your orders get updated (full or partial fill) you'll never know until you manually refresh. That kind platform only suits Pa Emma and Agba. |

Streetinvestor2:Okay, even if hedge funds are still a stretch. How about making margin loans prevalent and having a bigger derivatives market. So I can short NCR for instance. Or buy options to buy GTCO at 100 when i'm. Confident it will be trading at 150. Those ones don't have yahoo boy risk na. This $10m we're doing is just too lean. |

awesomeJ:Csn u go out all day only buying but not sell. Then another u could do only sell without buy.like 2 or 3 days interval for buy and sell Abi everyday u must buy and sell something |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:54pm On Dec 24, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:Just two problems: 1. Do I have another 7 years to spend mastering a new market as much as I've mastered this one? 2. While N1bn here would make you hold good stance, it can't even but 2000 unit's of Alphabet Class A. |

Streetinvestor2:Every day I place orders buy and sell, what gets filled is not up to me. But there's hardly any day I don't trade. Hardly any day I trade less than 100 deals sef. |
