They can't task portfolio size na.

Based on the tax law, Agba with N5bn may pay less taxes than someone with a N20m portfolio. grin grin grin
It won't make taiwo not to put Eagle eye on him as HNI.i hope u remember they say thr target is 10% in the population which is obviously a lier too but he don qualify for that 10%

I think it could help half way.The majority or big holder who wants to move the stock at 100k rule will have to sacrifice not that kind big loss again. if what he wants to gain in future is large.Thereby creating liquidity as the gap closes which will equally attract other holders to close the gap more.i hope I am making sense. The sacrifice can easily go round to close the gap even from traders like u
Yes you're making much sense.

If they split 10 for 1, the 5k gap reduces to #500, then the loss from selling 100k units on ngx is N50m instead of N500m.

With N5bn, Agba is in top 0.1%

Some estimates say only 7000 millionaires are in Nigeria.

Agba is one of them.

7000 is 0.007% of 100m adults in Nigeria.

So at the end like 10 holder will take different small loss and gap will be covered and everyone moves to gain as the stock becomes active and possiblly appreciate than being stagnant

Yes exactly.

The only problem here is that we're trying to shift the responsibility of an efficient market to the companies while it should be on the NGX.

When they last revised that rule in 2019, only one stock traded above #600.

They changed it to avoid distortions to the index, but they inadvertently created a bigger problem of illiquidity. It's almost 7 years now, there are 7 stocks trading above 600 and MTNN may soon join too.

If not for your fixed deposit, aren't you supposed to be on N20b already.

Imagine if you bought some E stocks instead of fixed deposit.

Edwardaigb is simply planning his finances which points to Tax Avoidance (a legal action).

You probably meant to say Tax Evasion which is applicable at the point of filing...

smiley
Thanks KarlTom for the explanation grin

The way people react to this CGT is something else.

It has been clearly stated that you get taxed when your profit is over 10 million or your transaction is over 150 million.

Oasisblue:
Why does Aradel always have huge volumes on offer each time the stock price makes a modest appreciation? This is a weird phenomenon. Does it mean so many people had this stock when it was very cheap? I think it was listed at N709, hence the current price is just a modest gain. Why are people soeager to sell? The company should be giving the Seplats of this world a run for their money on the NGX based on their books and their assets.
The market can be irrational.

This is a golden opportunity for those interested to accumulate.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ogawisdom(m): 7:22pm On Jan 07
Rabiu alone made over ₦9 trillion in capital gains from the stock market in 2025.

Read that again.
Slowly.

For context.

₦9 trillion is about one-third of Nigeria’s entire 2024 national budget
One man. From capital gains.

Let me break the numbers down.

₦1 trillion = ₦1 billion repeated 1,000 times
₦9 trillion = ₦1 billion repeated 9,000 times

Still abstract.
Let’s go further.

Assume this.

He spends ₦1 billion every single month
For 50 years straight

That is:

50 years = 600 months
₦1 billion × 600 months = ₦600 billion

Now pause.

From ₦9 trillion.

After 50 years of spending ₦1 billion monthly
He would still have about ₦8.4 trillion left

Let that sink in.

It will take 750 years Of spending ₦1 billion every single month to exhaust ₦9 trillion

This is not hype.
This is simple arithmetic.

This is why ownership matters.

This is what markets do.

• They reward ownership
• They multiply patience
• They scale capital beyond effort

Wealth is quiet.
But the numbers are loud.

Ah. I thought CBN said those two banks can appeal their revocation. Why is CBN now putting obstacles on their way?

What's the relevance of cycle here? If thousands of hecatares in new acquisitions start yielding massively?

You make it sound like the earnings will be flat. Even at constant earnings multiple, as long as the E increase, the P will increase too.

They revoked those licences based on something different but can't be based on regulatory standards.
Why did they do everything to support unity Bank even still at this time.
They have someone interest to destroy in aso savings while they have someone interest to protect in unity bank. Why not allow them recapitalize and see if they will not be able. Or get acquired by another company .
Look at the speed ndic want to act like it is not same organisation that takes yrs to act
