deathwing:The amount, 16.45 is simply outside the -/+10% band for today. TIP's closing price on Friday 30/01/2026 was N14.95 The +/-10% band for today will be: Lowest price (-10%) = 13.50 Highest price (+10%) = 16.40 * For today's trading day, TIP could only trade within 13.50 to 16.40 in 0.05 price mvmt* * Note: If you do the 10% calculations, it will give you 16.49....but looking at the Per Value movement of TIP, it's 0.05 * So the Mvmt will be in the range of +/-0.05 E.g. 16.10, 16.15, 16.20, 16.25.......16.35, 16.40.... ** This is the rule** - For stocks less than or equals to N10, the mvmt is 0.01 -termed Penny Stocks - For stocks above N10 but less than N50 (I think), the mvmt is 0.05 - For stocks above 50 but less than 100 or so, 0.10 (will confirm this) |

deathwing:Let me try and offer little explanation how i understand it. The opening price of TIP was N14.95k, and you wanted to bid for it because everyone wants it (full bid). 10% of N14.95k is N1.495k. The SP (N14.95k) + 10% max gain (N1.495k) = N16.445K You therefore make your bidding price = N16.40K ( approximation to the second decimal place). It is a penny stock. So, since the stock is one of the hottest on NGX now. It should also gain maximum 10% tomorrow. If you are bidding, following the above procedure. You bid price should be N18.00k. And you should do this immediately @ 09:30hrs to join the queue early enough to be considered. Please, this is no investment advice. You should do your own diligence. This is just an illustration to answer the question. I hope this helped. |

A stock cannot grow or lose more than 10% a day. Since TIP grows in a multiple of 5 kobo (being above 5 naira for a while now) 16.40 while not exactly 10% is the highest it go sell for the day (rounded down to the nearest 5 kobo). Since the price has reached its max, you should have used market order basically telling the exchange "sell to me at the highest offer possible" which cannot be more than 16.40. deathwing: |

SonofElElyonRet:Value is utility! Utility in the stock market is dividend. Let assume your Ellah lakes is not going to gain in price from now till 2036;what will be your reward if no dividends will be paid for 10years? The answer is nothing. ![]() Let us also assume I bought ACCESSCORP and there won't be increase in price till 2036;what will be my reward? The answer is good dividends. ![]() |

Thanks a lot for your answer. I thought the 10% was a price ceiling, but that trading could go way above it. Learned something new today. Thanks! yMcy56: |

EDUECO:Value is when worth is attached to an item by majority of people which translates to price appreciation. It could be an anticipation of future returns. You think your own private definition and head stuck in the sand, inner cocoon position determines anything? It's what majority think that affects price and perception. Access currently is poorly perceived. By the way, Ellah's CEO has promised dividend payment in the next final year results.. jealousy jealousy ![]() |

Some people on this thread just hate money or they pretend to. 😒 How will someone invest his hard earned money and be comfortable with no capital appreciation after many years in the market 🤔 |
