Under the new Nigerian tax laws effective from 2026, a company with a profit of ₦10 million will be considered a small business and will not pay any Companies Income Tax (CIT).

Tax Calculation

For the 2026 year of assessment, your company's tax obligations will be as follows:

Companies Income Tax (CIT): ₦0

Small companies are defined as those with an annual gross turnover of ₦100 million or less and total fixed assets not exceeding ₦250 million.

Since your profit of ₦10 million falls well below the ₦100 million turnover threshold, your company is exempt from paying CIT.

Development Levy: ₦0

Small companies are also exempt from the new 4% Development Levy on assessable profits.

SUMMARY

The simple interpretation is that if we use a limited liability company and the turnover is less than N100M, there is no tax to be paid. There's no company tax or withholding tax of 10% on dividends.

So, what should you do?

Go and register a limited liability company and let the revenue from domain sales pass through it. If you make less than 100m a year, you will pay zero tax.

However, if you choose to use your personal bank account, the revenue would be treated as a personal income and you would pay personal income tax. You're eligible to pay tax once your personal income is 800k or more a year.

Therefore, It now time to divide your business from your person. Register a limited liability company today, and with both corporate accounts and corporate dormicillary bank accounts for it..

Separating personal income from business income early can save a lot of stress later, not just with tax but also with banks and buyers. Most serious buyers are usually more comfortable dealing with a registered company than a personal account. Even if sales are slow at the beginning, setting things up properly from the start helps in the long run. Domain business looks simple, but treating it like a real business makes a difference.
