Imagine if I wasn't on this platform, I would honestly think N100m is a significant amount, cos it probably is in my real world circle, especially given my age bracket.

Here you see that it's weekly earnings for those who have taken the time to build solid portfolios, and the motivation is just sweet.

This is also why just using percentages isn't always best as @nosa2 once stated.
Percentage bawo, na absolute figure jor

1% gain by a N1 billion portfolio is equivalent to the salary of a minimum wage worker for11 years.

Equivalent to 8 times the GDP per Capita of Nigeria

@awesomej, I hope you succeed in this your agenda to let Oga @agalowomeri abandon his over cautious stand on NGX. Surprisingly Agba was the one that was drumming it into everyone's ear during the 2023 election that the emergence of PBAT will usher in a bull never seen before on NGX. Unfortunately he jumped out of his GTB at N37 (100%) gain not knowing that the bull he predicted just stated.
I will.

His billions must produce many more billions.

I seriously believed agba is such a wonderful being, he never showed even for once being offended, that speaks volume of who he is in real life. I respect you so much for that.
He is a definition of humility he never takes any insult seriously. instead, he jokes it out of the person insulting him.

I seriously believed agba is very invested in this market, he just enjoys the cruise here.

Agba the baba for the girls, where do you see the market from here and what effect do you think 2027 election brings to the market.

100m is still a significant amount , am sure less than 10 % of the population have that in there accounts

There are just levels , as with all things
I think less than 5% is more appropriate
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 10:27am On Feb 14
Agbalowomeri:
What if the 8 zeros is your interest on fixed deposit? Would you be happier? grin grin cheesy
No I wouldn't.

If 8 zeros are my fixed income interest, then it means the market would easily make them 9 zeros.

That extra zero is N900,000,000

That's enough to pay 100 people N9m per annum in salaries.

You're leaving that kind of money on the tablehuh

To the people advocating for MTN, do you use MTN data at all, if you do, you should know that it takes just efficient competitor with wide coverage and affordability to wipe the revenue from that aspect a way. MTN is a definition of failure when it comes to data business, very very bad value for money.

I don't know the extent of that business to their revenue but in the long run I believed they will loose that battle except something is seriously being done to mitigate that asap.

Maybe even less than 5%

Which is why I mentioned that it probably is, in my real world circle.

But if I have what it takes to grow it to N1bn in a very short time, why not do so, when i've just been reminded that a N1bn portfolio can return that same N100m in a good week.

That's new ability that makes my splurge way more affordable.

It's also the kind of earnings that makes even your extended family comfortable. Why not seek it in their own interest too.

Fact is not everyone will get the opportunity to grow wealth into billions, those of us who get such opportunities shouldn't squander it.

The irony of life is this: Once you breach that first ₦10 million without blowing it, the hunger sharpens—you suddenly crave the next milestone. At ₦100 million, you start dreaming of true freedom, but with caution. Then the market rewards your discipline, and ₦150 million arrives almost effortlessly through consistency and patience. Before long, you're in the ₦500 million league, tasting real financial liberty. Opportunities open up; you see everything you could acquire for yourself and your loved ones.
Suddenly, the generational bull run—fueled by that "Emilokan" momentum—propels you into the ₦1 billion portfolio club. Yet the appetite renews the moment you hear that even the ultra-wealthy, like Tony Elumelu, are still actively acquiring more (just look at his recent major stake in Seplat Energy). That's when it hits you: there is no finish line in the pursuit of wealth.
You realize every single naira in your hands is a worker—it can be deployed to earn, grow, and compound in the endless quest for true financial independence.

Yes, but I love a balance too.

Like stopping once a while to enjoy the wealth.

Because taking it to the extreme too probably serves no purpose.

Stories exists of people who lived their entire lives in frugality, and then planned to start enjoying their saved up millions in retirement only for a chronic health diagnosis to make such enjoyments impossible or even cut their lives short.

I will still spend on lifestyle upgrades in Q3, it's just that the budget has now been cut by more than 50% 😁😁

Like King Solomon said, having wealth is not just enough, being able to enjoy it is the bigger blessing.

Market will be at 250k before your November date.

So you can still make 3x what those bankers are offering you.

And you already have the sophisticated skills of finding the right vehicles.

Thanks for sharing.

When I said the average portfolio size here is in hundreds of millions, some people preferred to believe otherwise.

By 2030, I pray the average portfolio size is over N500m, maybe billions.

By all means be inspired and use the opportunities available

Delayed gratification is a key part of the game

I have been compounding for over 2 decades , nothing as sweet as flexing with returns from investments

Yes, in the relentless pursuit of true financial independence, never forget to nurture your physical health, mental peace, and spiritual well-being along the way.
Right now, as I type this on Valentine's Day, I'm taking my family out for a simple yet meaningful outing. We're making them taste a bit of life's sweetness—at a modest ₦250K. Nothing extravagant, just quality time and shared joy.
Meanwhile, the portfolio quietly does its job in the background, quietly recovering the cost and compounding in silence.
That's the beauty of discipline: it lets you enjoy the present without derailing the future.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mankind2024: 11:54am On Feb 14
Yes, Mr. Agba is humble. Was reportedly clocked billions in gains around 2017/2019, right in the thick of that brutal market downturn. Zenith Bank plunged from over ₦40 to as low as ₦16, and it got so intense that Jim Ovia had to step in and urge investors not to panic-sell. His famous words: “We have been in this situation before, and we will get over it.”
The irony? The only real thing that worked against Mr. Agba in recent years seems to be his own intelligence.
In most professions—engineering, law, medicine, accounting—the more knowledge and expertise you accumulate, the higher your earnings climb. But in the capital markets, the opposite often holds true. History shows time and again that too much knowledge, over-analysis, or a high IQ can become a serious disadvantage.
Overcomplicating things, timing the market, second-guessing the obvious, or holding on too long or too short because of "smart" reasons has tripped up even the sharpest minds—including Mr. Agba—from 2022 till now.
The lesson? In investing, discipline, patience, and simplicity frequently outperform raw intellect. Sometimes, the best move is to know just enough... and then act decisively without overthinking.
