Agbalowomeri:
Anything above 10% for stocks is not sensible, considering the risks involved
That should be the focus of engagement with the tax authority and the government.
CGT of 30% is way too high.

This looks to me like the first time Aradel is making your list/

hancock:
Gracias
Already have all you listed in small units except Aradel which seems way too high at its current price.
Will continue topping up as much as I can

As was revealed, Oando is on fire!!! With ZERO offer, folks are seeking to buy but cannot find. May the doubters continue to ignore the three jewels that were unveiled this year!

ProphetUtuocha:
I laugh when folks discontenance or rubbish Oando. I wish they can see what's about to happen.

Meanwhile, those who ignore these three bright stars shall regret in due season:
Access
Uba, and
Oando

So when I sell my stocks and keep my money cash inside my room(assuming), they will come and collect the tax from my room?
Or when I convert to foreign currency and wire it to my foreign domiciliary or fixed deposits accounts in Europe, US or Ghana or S/Africa?
You think the proceeds would be sitting idle in my local accounts till end of the year?

When I say the ''end'' of NGX, I mean it would lead to exodus of investors and the index would crash!
One major objective of the new tax law is to make evasion difficult and give legal backing to enforcement.
As long as you reside in Nigeria, the tax man will get you when they are ready.
It might take time but we will begin to see improvement in enforcement.

The market isn't crashing.

You will just no longer be a participant.

I doubt the market will miss you.

Except of course you control up to 5%.

I look forward to days I will control 5%.
Who said the market is crashing?
You should understand the difference between a conditional and non-conditional (absolute) statemen.t
By the way, I wonder how long ago you started investing in the NGX. Too much unnecessary personalization of issues..
Anyone that was active in the NGX 2007-2009 would be circumspect in making some comments. Nobody prays for a crash, but some govt policy actions can lead to a crash. We saw it in November 2025.

Market will be at 250k before your November date.

So you can still make 3x what those bankers are offering you.

And you already have the sophisticated skills of finding the right vehicles.
Not all stocks are contributing to the ASI bull run. Some stocks are like pooh coming from a running bull, they fall behind.

You should get used to Tinubu's face till 2031 and whoever takes over from him must continue to push necessary reforms to continue the growth we are currently seeing. National growth and development trump any primodial sentiment!

My question is even if market price finally meets up with the right issue price (N50).

What is the guarantee that price doesn’t slide back to 40s once right issue period is over.

It looks like monkey hunting to me.

You that think your exit from the market will be lead to the "end of the NGX"

Aren't you the one daydreaming.

If you like, let it be that you've spent 200 years in the market, fact is nobody knows you, your exit will not even reflect on deals count, talk less on market cap.

Dey play. Ask the people in Lagos how they enter banks themselves to pay tax, even penalty for traffic offence sent by sms to their phones without anyone chasing them. If govt is serious with implementation, you've got no escape route.
Is Lagos the same as NGX or you think every investor lives in Lagos?
They cannot do nothing if I offload my shares and move my loot out of the jurisdiction. The govt itself cannot be serious with implementation because the Implementation Committee itself has realized and acknowledged the problems and impracticability of the CGT law

It depends on whether it is all about the rights issue or if there are other developments in the grape vine e.g. if Oando has been able to raise funds through other sources or partnerships
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 10:34am On Feb 16
Engagements with citizens and players in the market is part of building confidence in the system and very important in building an inclusive govt. I beleive that is what they are currently doing.
For you to stay on nairaland and continue to boast of disobedience to the laws of the land is simply empty chest beating. If and when govt is ready to enforce the law, bro, you will enter the tax office yourself and file your tax returns. Thank you.

Whether Tinubu, APC, Obi/Atiku, ADC, Wike/PDP, I don't care.
I am not the investor that dragged the market in November 2025; which made govt to quickly reverse and recant some of their statements on the CGT, including reducing it to 25%, which would be unlawful because such 25% is not backed by any law.

You're speaking on what you don't know.

The 25% is exactly what's in the law.

There's no specific rate set for CGT in the law.

It simply uses the PIT rate which is 15-25% in the law, as well as CIT rate which was 30% and is to reduce to 25%.

Those are already enacted.

My brother, abeg, no vex.
When someone says; ''if'' it means a condition or happenstance. It does not mean it has happened or it will definitely happen. It is not an offence nor crime yet. So no disobedience has occurred.
It only points to potential or possible loopholes in the law.
I also made reference to official statements made the Implementation Committee set up by the Finance Minister to review concerns raised about the law. Why are you deliberately silent on that? Is the Committee also boastful of disobedience to the tax law or doing empty chest beating?

I taya for una oo, haba!
As if we must not think at all in this country because of somebody!
