KarlTom:
There are several options before ELLAH mgt right now:

- reach out to some HNI investors who subscribed to the PO for private placement
- borrow internally to fund the acquisition. Then convert the debt to equity later on at a discount.
- issue CP or BONDS to fund the acquisition.
- come back to the market with a RI (after all the EGM has given approval for the fund raising).

Frankly speaking, the only thing that can save the SP from total decline are successful acquisition + verifiable commencement of milling operations...

Every mallam to his kettle
Why is the option of focusing on running the business that currently exists and getting that profitable not on the table?

Anyway na siddon look mode I dey

emmanuelewumi:
HNI are very smart people, except for politicians who are mostly money miss road.

What is the size of the business done for Ellah Lakes to ask for a bond of N200 billion for the acquisition?

What is the credit rating of Ellah Lakes?

The best thing is for Ellah Lakes to grow organically for the next 3 years, generate reasonable revenue, become profitable, improve their credit rating, convert the current debts to equity, then try to pay a dividend

After this they can try a N50 billion right offer.

The problem with Ellah Lakes is that majority of the current shareholders were waiting for the next maga.

I doubt if 20% of the shareholders actually participated in the public offer.
Thank you for this. I was beginning to think I am going crazy

Jegede is trusting on the Lord. He has faith that the N500 billion is a chicken change and the offer will be oversubscribed

Until you have solid institutional investors in a company, it will be difficult for any company on NGX to raise N100 billion and above, talk less of N250 billion and N500 billion

Institutional investors have names, the institutional investors I reckon with are pension fund managers.

For them to invest in a company, they must have been consistent with dividend payments for the past 5 years.

Not a buy recommendation.

Loco’s Analysis on Behavioral Patterns of Ellah Lakes Plc and Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc Next Week
🔎 1️⃣ If Ellah Dips on the News
Watch for panic-driven selloffs.
If bids thin out and volume rises with falling price → distribution likely.
If price stabilizes quickly with strong absorption → pullback only.
🔎 2️⃣ For Japaul Traders
If bid depth remains strong despite Ellah weakness → no real spillover.
If volume spikes but price stalls → whales may be distributing.
Consecutive lower closes = sentiment shift.
⚠️ Pump & Dump Alert
Both counters can show:
Heavy bid stacking → retail chase.
Sudden offer walls → quiet exit by smart money.
🎯 Bottom Line
Next week is about liquidity behavior, not headlines.
If money flow holds, momentum survives.
If smart money exits, price will reveal it quickly.

Don't panic sell but be cautious

Non payment of dividend disqualifies a company from the NGX pension index. Once Oando restarts dividend payment, it will naturally be readmitted to the NGX pension fund index.
