@Profyoungmeta, Please my candid advice for you is to PAUSED the so called introduction because from all your explanation, it clearly showed that you cannot control this lady.
Profyoungmeta:
Hello Nairalanders, I need sincere advice about my relationship because I am getting confused and emotionally tired.

I have been in a relationship with a lady (let me call her Fumilayo) and we are planning our Introduction ceremony in about two months. However, some issues have been bothering me and I need honest opinions.

1. Her Attitude

Sometimes I feel like she is pretending about her personality. She often raises her voice at me and sometimes yells whenever I point out something she did that I don’t like. Instead of discussing issues calmly, it usually turns into an argument.

This makes me uncomfortable because I prefer peaceful communication in a relationship.

2. Money Issues

Most of our disagreements are about money. She believes I should be giving her regular financial support like monthly upkeep, but I feel pressured.

Sometimes I feel she is with me mainly because I have a stable job and that she wants to use me to achieve her business goals and maybe leave later. I may be wrong, but this fear is in my mind.

Background

When we met, I was doing my Master's degree and also attending banking school at the same time. She was in Egypt hustling then.

We were dating and she knew I was doing my Master's, but I didn’t tell her about banking school then.

After I finished banking school, I was posted to Head Office instead of a branch. I became a product manager handling a banking product after finishing my Master's.

When she returned from Egypt and visited me in Lagos, that was when she discovered that I was working at the Head Office. Before then, she had been worried about me getting a job after my Master's and I kept telling her God would provide.

Her own plan is to open a hairstyling business in Lagos.

Lifestyle Differences

Another issue is spending habits.

She likes expensive things and believes cheap things have no value because they spoil quickly. She doesn’t like trekking and prefers taking a bike even for short distances.

The truth is that both of us did not come from wealthy families. I usually advise that we should reduce spending and focus on building wealth together, but she doesn’t always agree.

The Main Problem – Introduction Planning

We are planning our Introduction ceremony in about two months.

My plan was to save:

₦170k first month for clothes
₦170k second month for logistics and introduction items for her family in Ibadan

But during the first month, unexpected bills came:
Transportation
Feeding and food stocking
My sister became seriously sick and I had to send emergency money home
Support for my parents
Electricity and waste bills
House maintenance
Investments and small savings (₦35k)

Because of all these, I could not provide the ₦170k as planned.

The amount I could afford at that time was ₦76k for her to manage.

The Introduction is supposed to be a simple living-room ceremony, not something big. I even suggested wearing a white native attire I already have so we can focus more on the wedding later.

But she became angry and said ₦76k is too small and asked what it can do.

My Concern

I am getting tired of constant arguments and pressure.

I know I am not perfect and I have my weaknesses, but I am trying my best.

Sometimes I wonder:
Am I being unfair?
Is she being unreasonable?
Are these signs I should reconsider this marriage?

Please Nairalanders, I need honest advice.

.
These are the red flags you have.

Number 1 and 2 shows that she doesn't love you. She is just in the relationship for financial and other purposes. This is a big one because women only respect a man that they love in a relationship and marriage.

Number 3, I don't know until you tell me what hustle she did in Egypt.

Number 4 shows she is not a good wife Material.

BUT overall, abort the mission. She doesn't love you and not a wife Material. She will get worst in the marriage and you will regret marrying her.

Mr Good man, there are many "good women" who can align with you. Stop disturbing "bad women." We know our peace. We are not into iron benders.

When a Nigerian guy starts talking about "good woman" and "bad woman" like this, I already know what he wants in a woman: gullible, obedient, submissive, and controllable; and I am nothing like that. Anyway, I am a "bad woman" with a conscience, I always avoid guys like you.

One guy once told me, "I love you more because you are submissive." From that day on, I started avoiding him. Till today, he doesn't know what he did wrong. Guys like them are often super- controlling. Some of them would even make major decisions in their woman's life without sitting down to have a proper discussion about the matter. I know their type very well. Even if it is just one important decision that truly matters to you, they won't calm down to talk things through. Instead, they will paint you as a bad woman to everyone.

They"ll be saying things like, "I can't even tell my wife what to do; this is all I'm asking her to do. Is it too much?" They immediately forget all the times she has been silent, all the sacrifices she has made, and all the times she complied without questioning. Some of them can even become violent and start insulting or beating their woman up over the issue. Very narcissistic set of people. I am not competing for the position of "good woman." I just want a peaceful, happy and quiet life for myself.

His lady is even better. My own future wedding checklist doesn't have anything like management on it. What is a wedding without hype? 🤣 Segun Johnson is even on my wedding checklist (Sho ma no wo yen tan? Sho ma no wo yen tan? Are you spending or not? Are you spending or not? 😄)

If my dream wedding is his red flag, then he is also my red flag. I can save for what I want, but I won't downsize my dreams just to please someone's ego. That day is specially for creating beautiful memories.

I am not married but i don't think you should marry someone who doesn't align with your goals or support you in achieving them. Marriage is a lifelong commitment and should be embarked on by two adults who are willing to build something together.

Practically she was with you before pepper show. Now you think you owe her lolz. Girls are like palmwine tappers ,they know which tree will bring sweet drinks and stick to it till it matures no dull your self.

Do this assignment:
1)bring a book and list the qualities you love in a woman. If she gets am well good luck
2)list bad things you can manage in a woman and you as a person can always find a way around and still be of,if hers is below 50% alright keep going
3) List things you can't tolerate, things that can make you poor, weigh you down, make you sick, make life unlovable for you, even make you consider fighting or violence resolv. If she gets 1% abort

Individuals have theirs. Some guys will prefer club girls others will prefer home girls. But if you haven't decided your own deal maker or deal breakers when it comes to women then you are a toddler in that affairs and nothing concerns a toddler with marriage

For me as my own man,any lady that demands wages for being my girlfriend or wife is a deal breaker for me.

Any lady that raises voice when we talk she be talking to me from afar and should either be a colleague or we have a business we are making good money on together that way we can shout together and still make our money not as my girlfriend or wife never.

If as a woman I can't have intellectual discussions with you it irritates me. You will be your own money earner and help wherever you are needed so we can build together or build more.

No go marry trophy wife guy and be crying in the closet

Please just let her go in peace and focus more on your work..No start wetin you no go fit finish bro..Marriage is not a do or die affair. If a woman is not committed to managing resources in marriage then let it go..

Assumption is the problem here. Some people just assume they are men and start deciding for all men. The funniest thing is that the real men don't even consider certain types of species as part of them. Being a man is not just about having XY chromosomes.

I am not marrying rubbish, so your prayer is not needed. Reserve your prayer for your daughter or your future daughter because if she ends up with your kind, she would need your prayer and fasting a lot.

Oops, with patience, I have been able to find a man I can consider my peace, and he also sees me as his peace 🤣. A few days ago, he was telling me, "You are just so soft-spoken and respectful. Ladies like you are scarce." This is one of the ways you know a man who also prioritizes your happiness, not just his. He totally avoided the word "submissive" without even knowing I hate the word. I even pulled his leg to make him use it, but he was like, "Babe, it is a chained dog that can be excited with control. As a human being, you have a mind of your own. Not everything I want will sit well with you. And if something doesn't sit well with you, the proper thing to do is to sit down and have a proper discussion together before concluding."

He even shared stories about controlling men, laughed about their ways, and referred to them as users. He concluded with, "Babe, you know what? I always want you to be happy. Please allow me to make you happy." Did you hear that? Allow me to make you happy; not "If you want me to be happy, do this and that." Their list no dey finish. Uselessd set of things.

Every career woman needs to avoid some kind of species. It is even better for them not to marry than to have a worthless thing in their life.

That is how a woman who happens to be a medical doctor was asked by her husband to resign after she got a promotion at work. They are just worthless species; they can render your many years of hard work useless.

Menh this one too much oo. However, the first thing I was told in marriage class is are you convienced that she is the one? So, I will like to ask u this question, do u have that conviction? If no, abeg wait small and have a rethink. All what you have written here are all red flags that cannnot be ignored. U might turn a blind eyes to them today but will pay for it tomorrow. I was telling a friend, never marry just because of love alone. In fact love should be one of the least ingrident. Get married because u knw very well you can cope with this person in the next 100 years. Marry because you know very well this person is who I want. Marry with clear eyes. Once again, are u convienced?

Number 2 is worse and amplifies number 1 in marriage. Soon, money issues will bring out worst attitude in her. How a lady manages money is like the litmus test in deciding if you should go forward. Pause and reflect. 80% of marriage issues have a root cause linked to money disagreement

What was she doing in Egypt exactly?
Because I know many Nigerian girls in such country only go there for one thing .

Why trying to settle for less ? Why not look for someone working who knows the value of money and hard work ?
