Madam Myc kindly help theow some light on the goings on at Morgan. I experienced a serious delay withdrawing some money from my account with them too last week. Should we port?
I think we should all exercise patience with Morgan Capital.
I honestly don't know what could be happening concerning all these complaints because up till this week, I personally didn't experience any of such.......

* For the record, Mcy is not a staff of Morgan Capital and not related in any way to anyone in Morgan......I've said this more than once here before.

* Some delay? Possibly Yes.
This could be due to overwhelming workload with limited staffers
* Missing stocks? I doubt it!
* To get CSCS statement, you can contact CSCS with your CHN & CSCS, OR subscribe to CSCS online.
* Forward the CSCS statement to Morgan Capital so as to reconcile your portfolio with your statement...(There are some stocks bonuses or quantities that won't automatically be added but you can see in your statement)

* Concerning not picking calls or replying mails.....
Are people sure they're sending mails to the right address? because I sent and got reply from Bosede...
* For withdrawals, notifications are always sent..

* Anyone with complaints should pls spelt it out as it is, let's see where the main issue lies.

YES I did went through the purchase/sales notes, portfolio summary/balance from day of purchase to the day of the missing shares. I can also confirm that no cash transaction was made into my bank account as at today.
Check and confirm if your account is not in DCS MODE (Direct Cash Settlement)....because this is the default mode in most cases.
Quite some users aren't aware of this.

Stocks get updated after COB and sometimes delay used to come from NGX too.

I'll try and contact Morgan by next week, God willing, and forward some of these complaints to them.
I think they needed to have a representative on this platform because of the large users/ clients they have here.

This is a serious one o.... Also sounds strange...

Because I know I have heard that in those days of analogue some stock brokers used to buy and sell client shares sometimes with the hope of making a few bucks in this era of digital, is their really anything to stop a disgruntle staff from also clicking one button and selling a stock without authorization?

With all these complains, the best advice I can give anybody that the money you have there should be used to buy shares immediatelly rather than leaving it idle there until all of these complaints reduce .
Hajicairo:
I strongly belief that was what happened. This was evidenced by the transaction history sent to me by CSCS.

https://leadership.ng/dangote-sinoma-sign-1bn-strategic-agreements-for-cement-projects-across-africa/
To strengthen its domestic market dominance, drive its export activities, optimise existing operational assets and enhance production efficiency and capacity expansion, Dangote Cement Plc has sealed $1 billion strategic agreements with Sinoma International Engineering for cement projects across Africa.

The president of Dangote Industries Limited, the parent firm of Dangote Cement, Mr Aliko Dangote, disclosed that the deal reinforces the company’s long-term growth strategy and aligns with the broader aspirations of the Dangote Group’s Vision 2030.

According to him, Sinoma will construct 12 new projects and expand others for the cement organisation across Africa, helping to achieve 80 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) production capacity by 2030, while supporting the group’s overarching target of generating $100 billion in revenue within the same period.

Either way we need people like you here, somebody must learn lesson. Carry on.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mails4funshi:
I wish to share my experience.

I had Transcorp shares with 2 brokers during the share reconstruction.

My CSCS acct now reads post reconstruction, that I have 36,100 units with Morgan (Currently), while the in-house reads 48,650 units.

The difference was credited to my Investment one account as seen through my CSCS acct (I have long sold).

I can only place a sell order to the tune of 36,100 with Morgan.

The stock market is perhaps the only arena in life where 26 yrs experience may counts for almost nothing.
Here, patience, humility, a steady temperament, and iron self-discipline are what separate the winners from the crowd.

I completely agree. It's hard to see how Mr Peter can build a 10-figure portfolio with that level of chronic pessimism, despite claiming 26 years in the game. True wealth in investing comes from disciplined optimism tempered by realism—not perpetual doom-scrolling.

I heard a beer parlour rumour yesterday while in Kuje that Nigerian stockbrokers are proposing a custody fee for holding clients' assets on their platforms.
May this never be approved by the SEC!
It would add yet another layer of costs for retail investors already dealing with brokerage commissions, NGX/CSCS/SEC fees, stamp duty, etc.
Most reputable brokers in Nigeria don't currently charge ongoing custody or account maintenance fees for standard retail accounts. Introducing this could discourage long-term holding and hurt market participation.
Anyone else hearing this, or is it just talk?

Lol, custody of what? Have you not been hearing all the discussions about CSCS domiciling your shares? The only thing they actually hold for you is the cash in your account waiting to be deployed, or the proceeds from your sales. Honestly, they should even be paying you interest, since that money generates interest for them.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mankind2024: 7:04am On Feb 28
Remember, brokers are always clever and perpetually broke.
When the SEC demanded recapitalization tripling minimum capital for many operators, it's no surprise they'd push back by lobbying for new revenue streams—like a custody/holding fee as a 'pre-condition' for compliance.
It's the same playbook the insurers used: when NAICOM tightened rules and pushed for recap, they successfully lobbied for mandatory building and vehicle insurance coverage across Nigeria to boost premiums and cash flow.
SEC, please don't let this become another hidden tax on retail investors already paying commissions, NGX/CSCS/SEC fees, etc. Long-term holding should be encouraged, not penalized!

"Remember say na dem (your stockbrokers) dey maintain your shares account for you—not CSCS directly. CSCS na the central depository wey hold the electronic records for everybody, but e no dey charge retail investors ongoing custody or maintenance fees like that (dem get fees for custodians/institutions, but not everyday retail folks).
Dem brokers fit don borrow this custody fee idea from foreign jurisdictions where e dey rampant—e.g., many global markets (US, Europe, etc.) get annual custody/safekeeping fees (0.1–0.3% of assets or flat charges) wey brokers or custodians collect for holding securities long-term. Na one way dem dey make money beyond commissions.
If dem push am here as 'pre-condition' for recapitalization compliance, e go add extra cost wey fit discourage buy-and-hold investors. Abeg SEC, make e no happen, long-term investing suppose cheap, no be penalized!

I don’t think they maintain my stock account at all. They simply serve as an interface to the trading floor; all shares are domiciled with CSCS. Their primary role is to facilitate access to the CSCS trading system.

There are, however, some brokers who actively manage your investments, you just deposit funds and they decide what to buy and where to invest. Those ones already charge custody or management fees; that’s nothing new.
