Cromagnon:
The fact you refuse to think is showing in the cost of suffering that is frustrating you. You want something for nothing and now wondering why you're getting nothing
Talking horsepoop as usual.

nairalanda1:
It was spent, but the truth is, we need 10 trillion naira annually. Not over 10 years. YEARLY

The kind of discos that

1.Until recently were not allowed to charge cost reflective tarrifs(and were only allowed to do so for 20% of their consumers), meaning that they ran up massive losses annually, and government subsides were not enough...meaning they had to take loans, and in some instances, withdraw from the business altogehter

2. Work in an environment where power theft is massive

3. Above adds up to poor profit , and by extension loss of ability to replace and buy transformers and poles

4.As a result of discos not making bank, gencos owe gas companies a lot of money. Even the government attempt to pay the money only covered what the government owed per subsides. It doesn;t cover the whole debt. That's a part of why we have blackouts....gas companies periodically refusing to supply gencos with gas.

NEPA was worse. Much worse.
NEPA was not worst.
The greedy politicians out of their personal interest killed NEPA to privatized power, now this is what they get.
If they had put all this kind of energy on NEPA in the 80's and 90's, NEPA would have worked far better than the present light condition in Nigeria.

How many countries in the world 🌍 privatized power?
Even in China, they can give license to private companies or individual to generate their own power, but not to give private company the License to generate and distribute public power for it's citizens.

In all, the DISCO'S and GENCOS have failed Nigerians and they don't have a lasting solution to give 200 million Nigerians stable electricity.

They should show them the exit door.
Let's go back to NEPA and make it a Limited liability company and invest heavily on NEPA the way we have done on the failed DISCO'S AND GENCOS, and see if things will not get better.

Right now, all your state government house's, National Assembly and Aso Rock are in darkness. Is either they are on Generator or Solar
What a country.

Well, let the discos and gencos charge a cost reflective tarrif, and things will work. Simple and short.
