Goke7:Quite ironic that someone who wants a Nobel peace prize for stopping wars has bombed a country unprovoked. He did say something along the lines that the gloves are off as he did not get it. He is calling for a ceasefire - imagine someone bombing you, killing your President, killing innocent kids & then being the one asking for a ceasefire Even more interesting is that the so called good guys like UK, EU are not talking about the 175 people that were reportedly bombed by the US, mostly children. If it was China or Russia, we will never hear the last of it https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iran-girls-school-missile-strike-trump-israel-preliminary-inquiry-b2936875.html China bad, UK good ![]() |

Honestly but for a working system these folks are not better than our leaders back home that we curse every day! The so called messiah anointed by God himself has become the legendary terminator of the universe 😂 |

Goke7:The working system, strong institutions & strong judiciaries help in no small measure... and we wont have that in Nigeria in years to come because the likes of Wike can still buy cars for judges without anyone raising voice. Watching a documentary about the genesis of the whole Iran / Israel palava and the usual suspects are all over it & are repeating historical playbooks again. The ones that accused China of espionage.. This life sha, if you don't look deep, they will just be whinning you with their democracy & how they appear innocent on the outside .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4yortSrUBs Important to note that after supporting Iraq quietly against Iran, they still went after Saddam Hussein ![]() |

The Home Affairs Committee has published a report on Mahmood's proposed reforms. https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/83/home-affairs-committee/news/212667/report-publication-earned-settlement-examining-the-governments-proposed-reforms/ The report does seem quite interesting, balanced almost. Interesting bit is to find out the true colours of the committee members who gave it their imprimatur. |

HustlaOfLagos:It's never been a lucrative role but the pay was more reasonable in the past relative to the cost of living. Brexit led to the loss of Europeans who used to work in the care industry, and then during COVID there was a mass exodus of over 40,000 British workers over the govt 's mandatory order to get the COVID vaccine. And since then the care industry has struggled with labour shortages, not least because their pay conditions are not attractive enough to lure new or experienced workers. |

Cyberknight:If I remember correctly, most members of the committee were critical of the proposals during the evidence sessions and some like Bell Addy have been very vocal in opposing the reforms, so the report is surprisingly balanced as you say. They seem to accept the government's reasoning and public interest in the reforms and that the proposals will be retrospectively applied, but have put forward some logical and fair recommendations, including the need for TAs. Will be interesting to see if the Lord's Justice and Home Affairs Committee will arrive at similar conclusions and recommendations. |

Cyberknight:Going to read this and see what it says ![]() EDIT: This recommendation makes a lot of sense & I think I have talked about it before,,, or maybe they even read this thread, who knows -- There is a benefit to having a sponsored work visa system in that it supports oversight and makes it easier for the Home Office to confirm immigrants are coming to work in genuine roles. However, sponsorship-based visa systems increase the amount of power that employers have over their workers and limit the ability of workers to progress and increase their earnings. Requiring workers to stay on sponsored worker visas for up to 15 years is likely to exacerbate these power dynamics and increase risks of exploitation. The Home Office should explore more flexible visa arrangements for workers it is planning to place on long routes to settlement, so they are not reliant on a particular employer to maintain their immigration status. Workers granted sponsored visas could transition to a more flexible visa after a set amount of time. Workers granted freedom to move employers in this way could still be subject to the No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) condition. Any flexible visa arrangements should provide a clear route to settlement for these workers. The Government should also consider what role the Fair Work Agency should have in tackling exploitation for this group. |

HustlaOfLagos:They also made a COVID type mistake by issuing ultimatums over the vaccine, and that directly led to tens of thousands leaving the sector and not returning. |

@HustlaOfLagos If you think the UK Home Office does not have some of its employees on this UK visa thread, you should think again. I remember the US visa section used to have a US consular officer who answered immigration questions back in 2014/2015. https://www.nairaland.com/1792591/u.s-immigration-questions-ask-u.s https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening#24358304 HustlaOfLagos: |

wallg123:Was watching one Israeli minister's interview with Medhi Hasan and it was eye revealing. They're fighting Iran on the back of them developing nukes but Israel also has Glad the UK didn't put mouth because they are also part of the problem, historically I wonder why the world can't just co-exist as one given that we look like a tiny spec in the grand scheme of it if you look at the earth in relation to the entire universe. If we all nuke each other, what then is the point? |

Goke7: ![]() No wonder they have been unable to solve the boat stuff They don't think things through & think of consequences or bypasses after .. Abi what kind of mumu solution is that one they have offered lol The proper solution will be to place time limits on benefits so if you do not find jobs after a certain period, you are on your own. I think the US does that |
