Profit takers do not want to allow Veritaskap to breathe.
Got in at 2.32 hoping for a rally after conducting a FA and noting that it is undervalued.
Since then,it has been jijoying. Up and down almost every eke market day.

Yes why? Recap is ongoing. The sector is showing strong interest. But Veritaskap is very volatile. I'm sure it's price and volume is the reason.

Unfortunately, the banking industry is the only sub-sector where the share price has never traded at its fair value.
The reason is largely due to the exaggerated cost of running the business. The CEOs are overpaid and bloated with cash — essentially living with a financial 'pot belly'
These sort of reasons only make me more bullish on the sector and the stock. As I said many moons ago, lets be watching

There is an error somewhere. Aradel did 100k units at 1230 but they didn't reflect it on the final prices.

I sold my Zenith today, will share it between Aradel and Seplat.

I got the call wrong this time, but it doesn't matter, since we're all making money still.
Decade after decade, stock-market speculators continue to grow rich, while the everyday average honest worker can barely afford food to eat and helplessly watches their purchasing power depreciate. A strange Prosperity!

The Exchange provides that same honest worker that can barely feed opportunity to earn an extra income. In life, you are responsible for how well you make it.
Castigate the government from now till Angel Gabriel blows the trumpet, governments will be blamed the world over.
Honest workers have since woken up from their slumber and are partaking even with the little they have.

Wow, why would sell your Zenith? At current price the div yield will be nothing less than 7% where else can you get that in this market

I haven't seen my Zenith and GTCO dividend from last year, despite writing officially to Veritas and Datamax registrars. Even an official report to SEC has yielder no result.

That of Datamax is worse in that they pay my Seplat dividends regularly but will not pay my GTCO dividends.

I took a personal decision to always sell those two just before dividends.

More so I have enjoyed good appreciation in price. I might buy after the dividend markdown.

You may not be able to buy after the markdown because of instant price appreciation, but time will tell.

Providus Bank is undertaking a private placement of 9.375 billion ordinary shares at ₦8.00 per share to raise ₦75 billion, aiming to strengthen its capital base, drive digital infrastructure, and support expansion. This initiative, arranged by Vetiva Capital Management, Cordros Capital, and PAC Capital Limited, closed in March 2026, coinciding with the bank's merger with Unity Bank and CBN recapitalization requirements...

They should help list UNITY BANK at #10-#12 at least so we ride HIGHER from there 😘

That is why life is all about working smart rather than working hard. Salary earners work hard while investors work smart. No one gets rich through working and earning salary. An investor would start his investment journey with an amount of money less than a month pay of the salary earner but in few years thereafter, the investor's returns by way of dividends and capital appreciation will have multiplied in hundreds of folds while the salary earners pay remains stagnant and keeps losing value due to inflation.

Unfortunately, more than 95% of salaries in Nigeria are so useless now including ALL of civil service.

Without corruption, I don't think a SENIOR civil servant can comfortably buy a tokunbo corolla car in 3 years. Where is uncle Tolu? grin

Investors on the ngx are honest people. They help to provide capital, a very important factor of production for our indigenous companies. Infact, the more investors we have, the better for our companies. I don't think it is fair to classify investors as dishonest persons, rather they should be seen as partner in progress to the companies. Remember the market has an inherent volatility. So it means the investors just like other business persons could make a gain or a loss. It will be wrong to see an investor as a usual profit taker because I am sure there is no investor who has never made a loss before. I will rather suggest we encourage Nigerians to embrace investment education. If we don't, there is nothing stopping foreign investors from continuously milking the ngx.

Options in this season of “Regret to sell or hold” for dividend-paying stocks.

1. Hold to qualify for dividends then reappraise to hold further to Q1 or sell after qualifying for dividends. If you choose to sell, sell the much units to take profits off the table.

Note: Difficulties could be encountered in demand for the stock after markdown forcing one to abandon plans as the price continues to fall on offers far above bids. E.g a stock paying a dividend of 10% may drop to as much as 20% post ex-dividend trading on low demand making exit impossible at a good price.

[CP-Your estimate Buy back Price] x number of entire units held at qualification
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… = number of units to sell
CP

Buy back when the stock falls to the estimated reentry price.

And what if it doesn’t fall to that price? Just walk away or keep waiting till it does or plough funds to wherever else ( any other stock) that hits a good entry price determined by whatever strategy/valuation metrics.

Be reasonable with the target reentry/entry price. Use stock charting, point of strong support, or Fibonacci with historical analysis.

Please note that CP will be marked down after qualifying. Adjusted for the dividend and/or scrip issued. Prior research is crucial to determine the most reasonable re-entry price.

2. Selling a few days before ex dividend mark down. I ask myself. “ Is this stock more likely to lose 25% before it gains 25% weeks or months post ex dividend ?” If No I would not sell.
If yes I could consider selling a day or two before qualification. When demand is still high. Again I apply the above formula likewise and research where the strong supports lie, etc.

There is always the risk that you may never get back in below your exit price, thereby surrendering a good stock. But, these are not really losses just opportunities lost. Remember, you still walk away with a profit, selling only a portion of your holding.
