Rangers FC defender Emmanuel Fernandez is in line to receive his first Super Eagles call-up, as the scoring defender has reportedly been informed that he will be part of Nigeria’s squad for this month's international games against Jordan and Iran.

The future of the Super Eagles' defensive line is looking solid with the potential addition of young player Emmanuel Fernandez (24)

Energetic Calvin Bassey is (26), and Benjamin Frederick (20)

🚨 🇸🇳 : Senegal has turned down a request from the Argentine FA for an international friendly during the upcoming FIFA break in March.

This choice comes as Senegal looks to fulfill a prior agreement to play against The Gambia national team, prioritizing their commitment over a high-profile matchup. 🙌

The Nigeria Football Federation has already commenced the process of appealing the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which rejected its petition against the Democratic Republic of Congo on the issue of eligibility of some players used by that country in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Playoff match against Nigeria in Rabat, Morocco on 16th November 2025.

“We have received the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on our petition, but we are not satisfied with the decision, which rejected our petition. I want to assure Nigerians that the NFF has immediately commenced the process of appealing the decision,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi

They will still be waiting on a verdict even after the competition is over, a federation that is notorious for poor administrative procedures.

I thought they said they'll go to CAS if the verdict isn't given.
Hahaha 🤣 even yesterday FIFA feature Congolose coach were he was asked questions about preparation for the play off . There is no verdict anywhere .I only pity Osihmen and other committed players

Back to back world cup, Osihmen missed out . So sorry for him 😔. When 5 countries qualified we missed out and now 10 countries plus points deductions from SA we miss out . Chai June is here 🤣

Hi Great Thread of Nigerian Football, it is indeed a good day to be alive and be excited for what 2026 still promises.

Today is My Birthday and I want to remind everyone out there not to give up on whatever their dreams, aims, aspirations, project pursuits, goals, etc are.
Victor Osimhen did not and look at him today and his story is still not done. John Mikel Obi did not and now he is a bonafide Nigerian legend. Rashidi "Rasheed" Yekini did not and he remains the one of the pinnacles among African Strikers today.

Lastly, on a flip note, Elyte89 is still not giving up on his Super Eagles job dream despite we all knowing how impossible it is and he is also not giving up on Nigeria heading to USCAMEX 2026 World Cup, so honestly what excuse you get? grin

Cheers to me and Cheers to us all.... God Bless You.
happy birthday super nerd. Wishing you the very best

Come next world cup, majority of our key players will be approaching the twilight years of their football careers, the likes of Osimhen, Iwobi, Ademola, Ndidi, Nwabali, and even Onyeka will be in their mid 30's...yes 30 is still young but in football terms, you should be in or almost past your prime at that age (except you're a CR7 with impeccable genetics and fitness). There's a world where Osimhen and Lookman might not even experience a world cup in their career, cause I don't even trust the Super Eagles and NFF not to mess up the next world cup campaign and make it a distasteful hattrick of world cup misses.

We hype these players a lot because they are easily the most media pampered generation of players we've had, yet the previous generation of Nigerian players who got more backlash from the Nigerian fans and media never failed to qualify for world cups.

The fact that the players in question have Congolese ancestry put the DRC in a very strong position. It could have been a lot different if those guys were naturalized South Americans etc.

The Congolese dual nationality law isn't strictly enforced in the country ...FIFA would have been in a messy situation if the decision went against DRC.

The NFF needs to be called out for their gross incompetence. This case has been a smokescreen to cover their failure.
