The CAF Appeal Board decided that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 (“the Match”), with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF). |

CAF should have stripped the title from Senegal the day of or when they had their initial assessment. To come back 2 months later to change course is just very very poor from CAF. Morocco will not feel like winners and Senegal has already celebrated. No one really wins. |

Papi85:Another case is going to CAS this week. Na wah for CAF oo. Anyway, we know Senegal as the champions, the memories of their bold fight in the final cannot be erased from our minds. For the likes of Sunday Oliseh who mocked Nigeria over the petition to FIFA, saying we should win on the field and not through the back door, what will they say to Morocco now? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Toylove: 11:00pm On Mar 17 |
mrwilliams9:Exactly my thoughts. They didn’t read article 84 during the game, a day after the game, a week after the game, it is 2 months after the final you remembered article 84. Congratulations to Morocco. Boardroom AFCON winners |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 11:02pm On Mar 17 |
mrwilliams9:If this current CAF president does not exit the position omo AFCON will soon become a joke, people will just be filing petitions anyhow even if they are knocked out of the competition. For the love of the game CAF should have used technicalities to dislodge the Moroccans just like FIFA have done in our case against DR Congo and still find a way to compensate Morocco much later. It’s looking like CAF is owing Morocco so much money and they just have to do something! Na wa o! With the way Morocco also refused to go on with wafcon it’s worrisome how they have held CAF hostage |

Although AFCON rules state walking off or refusing to play for a prolonged period is grounds for elimination, the decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON title two months after their trophy lift is a bad look for CAF. It should be within the power of the officials in real time to disqualify a team, but it's a hollow victory for Morocco to appeal and win in this manner, weeks after the trophy lift. Morocco accepted Senegal's return from their 10-minute walk off, gladly resumed play and took their penalty. Missing it, losing the game, then appealing to gain the trophy doesn't sit right, even if by the letter of the law there are grounds to do so. @BenJacobs |

JohnBullMySon:Not part of the "una". It didn't seem right to me from the onset. This case was deflection tactics by the NFF..now no one remembers the NFF's failings during the WCQ. Wouldn't be surprised if this cycle repeats in 2030. Our attention span is pretty limited. |

Embarrassing from CAF and Morrocco. If the North Africans want, let them form their own Confederation with the Middle Eastern nations. These Arabs are ruining the game. |

Papi85:This same Morocco petitioned CAF after they lost WAFCON finals to Nigeria, questioning the eligibility of Ashley Plumptre. But our legend said, football should always be won on the field. |

Morocco's now 2 Afcon wins are just rubbish. 1976 - Backyard win through Rubbish League phase manipulation. No final played. 2025 - Loses final 1-0 and then awarded 3-0 win on grounds of players boycott 2 months after Afcon final was decided. Their 2 Afcon titles are a Joke. They just fanned the fire of hate much wilder towards themselves from African football fans. |
