Happy birthday to you TheSupernerd, Encyclopaedia of all Nigerian origin players, top analyst✅. Wishing you long life and prosperity in good health and abundant blessings.
TheSuperNerd:
Hi Great Thread of Nigerian Football, it is indeed a good day to be alive and be excited for what 2026 still promises.

Today is My Birthday and I want to remind everyone out there not to give up on whatever their dreams, aims, aspirations, project pursuits, goals, etc are.
Victor Osimhen did not and look at him today and his story is still not done. John Mikel Obi did not and now he is a bonafide Nigerian legend. Rashidi "Rasheed" Yekini did not and he remains the one of the pinnacles among African Strikers today.

Lastly, on a flip note, Elyte89 is still not giving up on his Super Eagles job dream despite we all knowing how impossible it is and he is also not giving up on Nigeria heading to USCAMEX 2026 World Cup, so honestly what excuse you get? grin

Cheers to me and Cheers to us all.... God Bless You.

I have been looking to share this.....only one assist is recorded for the Monster Machine on BBC sport football commentary
BankyGee:
DID YOU KNOW THAT Victor Osimhen's assist against Liverpool in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie was his 20th Champions League goal contribution?

Victor Osimhen in the UCL:
👕 26 games
⚽ 16 goals
🅰️ 04 assists
🎁 20 G+A

Karlovich, johnbullmyson don win us 😃😃😃😃,dem reject our petition ;FIFA say make we rest 😃
I don't take delight in seeing us miss the world cup, NFF need to get their acts together.

The impact of the first few qualifying games we played where they couldn't sort out Peseiro's contract issue eventually came back to haunt us.

Drawing Lesotho and Zimbabwe really affected us

They are justified after all! What a shame and if time is not taken many European based players may just start avoiding the competition after all it’s better not to lose their spot in their clubs

Anyone hosting the Afcon now must and will win at all cost. I even see Morocco bidding to host again! Is this what European based players will sacrifice their time for? Not worth it as this will lay a bad precedence!

Vinicius' Brace and MOTM Performance for Real Madrid tonight vs Man City on their home ground in England is vengeance for the 2024 Ballon D'or controversy that saw Man City's Rodri win. Lol

Poetic. Football will sometimes give you chances to shut people up. Lol

Meanwhile for those who think football must always be won on pitch and not through the backdoor Morocco just taught everyone a lesson, in the modern world you can choose not to play fair and still win!

So sad 😭 my brother back to back not qualifying so shameful .NFF started with Finidi George to show high level of unseriuousness
It wasn't Finidi that drew with Lesotho in Uyo and Zimbabwe away. He was just an assistant then.

It's a shame on Motsepe and Morocco, Anything they like, let them do,they will never be regarded among the African football powerhouse,
They and CAF would probably want to deploy a plan to win next AFCON, but still they won't be among the powerhouse.
The African powerhouse are:

Nigeria
Egypt
Cameron
CIV
Ghana
Senegal

Their Cinderella runs in football may just have ended, it's more likely they won't cross first round at the world cup.

This decision by Motsepe is nonsense, I wonder what all the west African representatives are doing in that CAF.

Next they will join all the U17 best teams in Africa in the same group, and Nigeria and the west African countries would continue to allow such rubbish pairings to continue and as a result Nigeria or Ghana won't qualify for U17 world cup.

The fact that the players in question have Congolese ancestry put the DRC in a very strong position. It could have been a lot different if those guys were naturalized South Americans etc.

The Congolese dual nationality law isn't strictly enforced in the country ...FIFA would have been in a messy situation if the decision went against DRC.

The NFF needs to be called out for their gross incompetence. This case has been a smokescreen to cover their failure.
Agreed without emotive prejudice

Nff petition rejected because it wasn't filed properly...
Based on technicality (failure to file within the stipulated time period), not on the merit or lack of merit of the petition.

FIFA dey do like Nigerian judiciary. So disappointing.

So what was FIFA investigating all this while when the petition could have been dismissed the same week it was filed?

Never thought it'd go our way but the more I think about it, the more it seems like a political ruling motivated by a desire not to upset the apple cart.

NFF should just move on.

FIFA’s decision appears less about the lack of merit in Nigeria’s petition and more about avoiding the implications of their own oversight. Since the NFF had already questioned FIFA’s due diligence in clearing those players, overturning the results would have exposed that lapse so dismissing the petition arguably protected FIFA from looking negligent rather than disproving Nigeria’s claims…and I am very sure after the playoffs or world cup itself ,they would change their rules to block the lacunas exploited by dr Congo

if we had drawn Benin and the remaining result came the way they came, we would have ended that group with 18pts as leaders

while If we had won Zimbabwe in uyo and the remaining results came the way they came we would have ended the group on 19pts as group leaders…

omo our 2026 world cup direct qualification miss were dependent on these 2games🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

during the playoff, Osimhen did not restart the game and boom all our player became sissies…

Jamaica will be ready to pick up from where Nigeria stopped if they lose to DR Congo, unless any of the affected players are not used.
