megawealth01:
UNITY BANK current outstanding shares: 11.69B shares
You need to consider the merger ratio plus the existing outstanding shares of Providus Bank
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by megawealth01: 5:31pm On Mar 18
It will be clearer in the days ahead
PropTrader:
I doubt Unity Bank is going to be relisted. It's likely going to be a cash for share transaction regardless of the term used e. g. Merger, Acquisition etc. If you know the major owner of Providus, he appear averse to stock exchange quotation. He is even trying to take the Insurance company he is a major stakeholder in, private.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by megawealth01: 5:32pm On Mar 18
That's true

You are very very very correct on "he appear averse to stock exchange quotation" The situation may not be perfectly clear now, it is nonetheless a fact that Providus Bank post whatever arrangement is likely to be a privately owned bank.

There may not be 100kunits to pull it further down, but retail investors will likely be able to buy around 1600
Same retail investors buying it at 1824 today even after the price changed officially to 1710. Unfortunately there was no 100k to rebound it to 1824.

It will most likely resume that way on Monday

There would have to be an approval at AGM before such decision could be taken. Unity Bank shareholders are currently the majority in number and would not agree to such.
In the absence of such approval, the bank cannot go private, especially when they are merging with a public-listed entity like Unity Bank.
And it has been officially reported severally that Providus bank is preparing to list on NGX.

Time will actually tell. We are only try to make permutations based on our assessment of the dominant figures in the 'merger'.
I think the word 'likely' I used is also pointing to the fact that my position is not a certainty. It is highly probable, though.

Your earlier opinion i.e. going private may still happen in future i.e. after the merger, initial listing on NGX and then an AGM approves the decision to go private if the offer price is accepted by shareholders

Definitely not the N1400 to N1500.
I don't think this will happen

I doubt.
If what we saw on the order book today continues on Monday, then Okomu could drop and Presco could gain.

The Merger will be consummated through a Scheme of Merger (the “Scheme”) under Section 711 of
the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020 Act. Under the Scheme, Unity Bank will merge all its
assets, liabilities and undertakings with that of Providus Bank, with Providus Bank being the surviving
entity. Following the completion of the merger, Providus Bank will be rebranded and renamed
Providus-Unity Bank Limited (the Enlarged Bank” or the “Enlarged Entity”) to reflect the integration
of both institutions, subject to the provisions of the Scheme. Consequently, the entire issued share
capital of Unity Bank shall be cancelled and Unity Bank shall be dissolved without being wound up.

Increase in crude oil price leads to increase in cost of production and transportation.

If producers transfer the cost to consumers, demand and sales will drop, meaning less revenue.

Stocks in the consumer goods sector will be the first to take a hit in Q1, Q2 2026, then every other will follow gradually till we hit the bottom one year from now.

If you are in good profit, exit and stay in cash or more stable and liquid investment.

With Israel reportedly now targeting energy infrastructure in Iran the world economy is going to feel the impact soon

If oil reach $120 and stay longer at that price the world would have a recession. Weather the ripple effect would reach Nigeria is what we don't know.

But I would not be complacent
