chimex38:it is time we need leaders of vision, people who can see the future for this country. Imagine that refinery is not there in this trying times, where we for even import the fuel from ? Gas we are not in control, crude oil the same thing. Steel na zero even the agency is still receiving allocations with nothing to show for it. Dangote is teaching us to hold the bull by the horn. |

Bizibi:Without DR, for one, Probably Water scarcity! Half of the country if not more especially urban areas rely on petrol generator to pump water to cook, bath, drink and clean. Even common "sachet water" manufactures might close down. Na "bloodbath" for water in some areas. The high cost of petrol we have now would have been a child's play.. This is getting to over one month of international scarcity. |

chimex38:Exchange rate would have skyrocket if not for Dangote refinery and speculator will be smiling to their bank |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 2:11pm On Mar 21 |
janga:Exactly.. Even at that smiling to the bank, What's the essence of making money off forex speculation and one can't use the amassed forex-wealth to easily assess and buy fuel dto pump ordinary water to his household? ![]() And where he's finally able to assess via black-market, the exhorbitant price of fuel over time is equivalent to the money he just made from the speculation differentials if not more.. It's a case of Penny wise, pounds foolish long term if one is based in the country. |

ositadima1:There was no modern state of Israel before 1948. True. But the cities that were owned and controlled by Jews/Hebrews and later including the foreigners introduced by Nebuchadnezzar (later known as Samaritans) such as Jerusalem etc. have been in existence for centuries. For equity we can't start talking about that nation from 1948. That territory with capital at Jerusalem has been under control of Romans, Arab Muslims and expanded Europe (read that as England and Spain) at different times but it does not mean any of them are owners of that small strip in the Middle East. Modern State of Israel as a nation is accomodative and made up of Jews, Europeans, Muslims, Ethiopians etc. but some people who are implacable still don't want to see it stand alone as a nation state. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 6:52pm On Mar 21 |
PropTrader:No, don’t portray Israel as if it is on the receiving end, that is not the case at all. My stance is this: the Jews were dispersed by the Romans during the Roman Empire because they were not subservient. After that, other people, also originally from the region but from different groups, inhabited the land. The USA and the UK reinstated Israel by force to compensate for the Holocaust. Then Israel began claiming more land, and with the support of the USA and the UK, it captured additional territory. Ask yourself: why is part of it called the “occupied West Bank”? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 6:56pm On Mar 21 |
"This conflict is fundamentally a clash between two competing national movements, Jewish nationalism (Zionism) and Palestinian nationalism, both claiming the same land. It developed through four key stages: In the late 1800s, both groups formed national identities and sought control of the land. During World War I, Britain made conflicting promises to both Jews and Arabs about the future of the region. Increased Jewish immigration in the early 20th century led to rising tensions, as Palestinians saw it as a takeover, while Jews saw it as a return and refuge. In 1947, a UN plan to split the land was accepted by Jewish leaders but rejected by Arab leaders, leading to the 1948 war, mass Palestinian displacement, and the creation of Israel without a Palestinian state. At its core, the conflict is a struggle between two claims to self-determination over the same territory." |

ositadima1:You see how you expose your own inaccuracies and lies? The second to the last paragraph (in your post above) states clearly that the Jews accepted the 1947 UN plan to split the land but the Arabs rejected it, leading to the 1948 war (just at the establishment of State of Israel) Yet, In one of your earlier posts, you said the Arabs initially accepted the Jews but the fight/confluct was caused by Israel's quest for more land.! My friend, stop pretending being an expert in this matter. |

ositadima1:You make it sound like Israel were going about wiping out communities and taking over their lands like happenings in benue and Plateau.. That won't be nice but evil if true. But wasn't it via waged wars with the Arabs in 1947/1948 and 1967 that Israel got those extra lands? (Unless it's western propaganda) |

mikeapollo:Your problem is that you just want to prove me wrong for the sake of it, nothing more. You have access to data and the internet on your phone, and I assume you have the same level of critical thinking as I do (maybe more). Do your homework. Let me clarify this one more time. Prior to the UN plan, some Jews had already begun returning to those lands. Many of them bought land from Arabs who were living there at the time. So yes, Jews were initially welcomed. Then the UN, which you could argue was influenced by Britain, the USA, and Europe, decided to compensate Jews for the Holocaust carried out by Germany against Jews, and proposed a two-state solution. But that land was already inhabited by other people. What do you think those people would naturally do? What would you have done if your forefathers had lived on that land for generations, and now outsiders came and started telling you a different story? Once again, you have the same resources as I do. Do your research. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 12:51pm On Mar 22 |
ositadima1:Stop using after thoughts to rationalize inaccurate assertions. The Jews never left the land in totality. There were always Jews living in the land at every point in history though they became minority after the land was atacked and conquered through ages. The Arabs did not welcome the Jews as you want to make us believe. They never wanted Israel and the Jews to exist as a nation and some of them believe it is their religious obligation to exterminate the Jews from the earth. The mere fact that they refuse to recognize Israel up to date is enough proof. |

ositadima1:Meaning without the detailed and documented historical book on lineage and geography of Israel in the Bible that outlived both centuries and the downfall of Israel as a state itself, There's a high chance the jews would have been contented with where they were scattered in Europe and within the Arab states. |

mikeapollo:No, you are wrong. Go and check again. The Romans expelled them and even banned them from entering Jerusalem and its surroundings. Many of them were killed at the time. The Jewish return is relatively recent. Please do your research. |

chimex38:It is not about documentation. We know for a fact that the Cherokee were the natives of the USA, but they haVe no backing. The Jews, because of Germany, and also because Germany lost to Britain, were favored, and many of them are Europeans. So the Bible is just a side story used to appeal to religious people. I know that, as a Christian, it can soften your heart. |

chimex38:Let me shock you a little: the biblical narrative is very clear that Jerusalem was a city belonging to another people group, the Jebusites, long before the Israelites arrived. The Israelites came from elsewhere and surrounded Jerusalem, capturing it under King David around 1000 BCE. So even the Bible clearly shows that Jerusalem and its surroundings were acquired through conquest. Please, no insults, check your Bible. |

The question of where the Israelites—and by extension, the Jewish people—originally came from is a point where the Bible, Archaeology, and Genetics offer slightly different, but overlapping, stories. If the Jebusites and other Canaanite groups were the "original" inhabitants of Jerusalem, here is the breakdown of the three main theories on the Israelite origin: 1. The Biblical Account (Mesopotamia & Egypt) According to the Torah (the first five books of the Bible), the Israelites were not "indigenous" to the land of Canaan but were a family that migrated there. * The Patriarch (Abraham): The Bible states Abraham came from Ur of the Chaldeans (modern-day Iraq/Mesopotamia). He migrated to Canaan as a nomad. * The Sojourn (Egypt): His descendants later migrated to Egypt to escape a famine. * The Exodus: Under Moses, they left Egypt and spent 40 years in the desert before "conquering" the land of Canaan from the tribes already living there (the Canaanites, Jebusites, Hittites, etc.). 2. The Archaeological Perspective (Internal Evolution) Modern archaeology tells a different story that challenges the "conquest" narrative. Most archaeologists today believe that the Israelites were actually a subgroup of Canaanites who broke away from the main population. * The "Highland" Settlement: Around 1200 BCE, new, simple villages began appearing in the rocky central highlands (the area around the West Bank). * Distinct Culture: These people looked like Canaanites, spoke a Canaanite dialect (Hebrew), and used Canaanite tools. However, they stopped eating pork and stopped worshipping the full pantheon of Canaanite gods (like Baal), focusing instead on a single deity. * The Theory: Rather than an "invasion" from Egypt, many scholars believe the Israelites were oppressed Canaanite peasants or nomadic herders who fled the wealthy, corrupt city-states on the coast to start their own egalitarian society in the hills. 3. The Genetic Perspective (Common Roots) DNA studies conducted on both modern Jews and modern Palestinians show a fascinating result: Both groups share a massive amount of DNA with the ancient Bronze Age Canaanites. * The Reality: This proves that the "different groups" you mentioned earlier—who inhabited the land after the Roman exile—were often the same people, just under different names, religions (Christianity, then Islam), and languages (Aramaic, then Arabic). * The Split: Genetically, the ancestors of the Jews and the ancestors of the Palestinians were largely the same people living in the Levant thousands of years ago. One group eventually identified as "Israelite," while others remained and eventually became the modern Arab population of the region. |
