MisterInvestor:we trade the both south african and kenyan markets....sa is most liquid on the continent with 431 equities, nigeria 311 while kenya boasts on 50 but they are trying..... i believe their will be time when africans will be smart to know that we shoudl invest in our own...we have some much african economic power in nasdaq and nyse when some of this investments could also turn around our companies,South Africans have done well in this area. Their pension funds, institutional investors, and even retail traders actively support their local market. It's not just patriotism — it's practicality. They understand that investing in their own economy creates a flywheel effect: capital flows into local businesses, those businesses grow, jobs are created, and the market deepens. The result? The JSE remains one of the most developed exchanges on the continent. How many of us are putting serious capital into Nigerian banks, Kenyan telecoms, South African retailers, or Egyptian blue chips? Yet we'll pour money into the same US tech stocks everyone else is chasing..There's nothing wrong with investing in US markets — diversification matters. But the balance feels off. We have so much African economic power sitting in the NASDAQ and NYSE, capital that could also help turn around African companies if redirected in part.

StockBaron:Thanks for sharing this update. Out of the 22 companies listed. I am involved in 8. Though, i didn't see NIDF ( maybe, it was not considered as a company )We are patiently waiting for the money spinner (Banking stocks). At least one should annouce what it will pay. When that is done it may make or mar the sector for capital appreciation. Banks are used to bandwagon effect. I was thinking i could used these dividend for Easther celebration. But, most can't come before then. But, knowing that money will be paid after is enough consolation ( I might even take an I - owe - you) 😀😅 ![]() |
