Good day all,

Do anyone know if there is any catalyst around the corner for ETI. It has been a lagger in my portfolio and I want to pull the plug on it. I want to know if there is something I am missing out. I remember someone was promoting it.

Below is the Q1 AI analysis of the stock and its recomendation:

ETI - CONSIDER REALLOCATING

Information on ETI is less detailed in recent searches, so this analysis relies on your portfolio data and general market knowledge.

The Problem: ETI is a large, pan-African banking group. Its underperformance (currently -8.56% in your portfolio) typically stems from exposure to currency devaluations in other African countries (like Ghana or Kenya) and the high operating costs of managing a business across multiple jurisdictions.

No Positive Catalyst: The search results found no recent analyst upgrades, news, or financial data points to suggest an imminent turnaround for the stock.

There is no compelling daa in the search results to justify keeping this laggard. It has been a consistent drag on your portfolio. Unless you have a specific thesis about a recovery in the West African banking sector, selling ETI and moving the capital into one of your top performers (like NGXGROUP or ZENITHBANK) is the more decisive move.

Looking forward to your response.

A guide to managing volatility through patience and precision 'IMO'
A. The Downside: Buying the Drop
When the market corrects, use these tiers to accumulate assets at a discount:
1.) 5% Drop: Maintain position; Hold.
2.) 15% Drop: Deploy capital; Buy 10%.
3.) 25% Drop: Aggressive accumulation; Buy 25%.
B. The Upside: Taking Profits
As the price climbs, secure your gains systematically while letting the rest run:
4.) 5% – 15% Rise: Trend is positive; Continue Holding.
5.) 25% Rise: Initial profit taking; Sell 10%.
6.) 35% Rise: Incremental exit; Sell 20%.
7.) 45% Rise: Protecting gains; Sell 30%.
8.) 60% Rise: Major distribution; Sell 40%.
9.) 100% Rise: Target reached; Exit position

The Golden Rule:
Discipline + Patience = Stable Long term Growth.
Don't empty the tank always leave some Afolabi shares to capture unexpected further upside.

Thanks

The original founder (Adu) actually passed on (died) some years back—I think 2014/15.

Edited: Ayoleke Adu was not the founder but the MD/CEO who was the brain behind their online trading platform (itrade). He died in August 2016.
That was long ago, can't be the reason for their present poor services.

Ok, thanks for that info.

That was the beginning of their deterioration. The people who worked with the guy sustained the business for a while, but I think they have left one after the other. Now, they have a new set of people none of who is really familiar with the vision or business model.

But then suppose share the properties for Access bank shareholders.

That's why despite the size, access never made any meaningful gains.
