Miramonica:Truth is only health related courses can give u any guarantee of sponsorship. Almost impossible for other courses because according to the latest immigration policy, u need to earn a minimum of about 40k pounds to qualify for sponsorship except for Health/Social care and Education sectors. Another exception is the jobs under the occupation shortage list. |

In addition to what you said , I will also advise people currently going to the uk for study to study heat pumb related courses like Building service engineering, mechanical engineering, renewable energy engineering etc because this are occupations that’s has a good future in the United Kingdom although a lot of people doesn’t know yet cause by 2030 the uk government is trying to eradicate boiler where everyone will have to turn using heat pumb by then heat pumb installer , plumber etc will be needed more than ever in the uk And for those that are already studying in the United Kingdom , regardless of the course just make sure you work to get and gather experience and don’t just work to gather money And when you are gathering the experience make sure all the experience are related and not different incase you will be working different employer . heykims: |

One thing you don’t understand is that on nairaland the more you asked question either relevant or irrelevant question the more people that are currently on nairaland or people that will be joining in the future will benefit , to be honest nairaland alone is enough to guide someone visa application and this is possible from people asking questions and Sharing their experience and opinion , so why not share your own opinion too for people to benefit instead of what you wrote justwise: |

[quote author=heykims post=138852310]If everyone is thinking like this, no one will japa. The truth is that nothing is guaranteed in this life, but make the move. Yea, COS might not be as easy as before, but people are still getting it. It's just that you won't hear news about those who get it as much as people who don't. Even people are still being sponsored from Nigeria to work as skilled workers (engineering, accounting and other professional roles). |
| Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by Fred2020: 10:02am On Mar 30 |
abubakarolatu:Your point isn’t entirely accurate. It’s similar to assuming there will be a surge in demand for electric vehicle repair technicians simply because we’re transitioning from petrol cars. In reality, many petrol car technicians retrain and transition into EV roles. So there isn't a big vacuum & only new builds are mandate to have heat pumps. Secondly, heat pump technicians are classified as a “medium-skilled” role on the UK occupation list. Under current visa rules, that makes them difficult to sponsor unless they fall under shortage occupations (like healthcare assistants or social care roles). So even if demand increases, sponsorship pathways remain limited except you have an employer determined to sponsor you under a different code but for that role (some employers do, but only when they really like that employee). Where I do agree is with renewables and data centres. These are relatively new and rapidly expanding sectors. There’s a genuine talent gap, and many roles are classified as highly skilled and well-paid, making them far more viable for sponsorship. That said, the term “skilled worker” is often misunderstood. It implies bringing in individuals with strong, in-demand experience, not just a recently acquired academic qualification. A master’s degree alone doesn’t automatically qualify someone for experienced roles, especially if their prior work experience is unrelated. Many jump to do a Master's in a field in which they have no prior experience or connection. A more effective strategy is to build on existing skills, align your education with your experience rather than trying to pivot entirely ( you lose your experience badge often). During your studies, focus on gaining relevent UK experience for your target field through part-time, volunteering or freelance experience. Finally, targeting MNCs is a smart move. They are far more likely to hold sponsorship licences, offer salaries above the threshold, and absorb visa costs without hesitation.

olola4:Make the move and become stranded? No one said u should not japa, don't follow the crowd and plan before u move. Besides, I'm interested if u could help give an instance of any professional that has got sponsored under the work visa since like July when the new policy was brought. |

heykims:Oya sit down there ... I and a lot of people who moved in 2023 as students don't have any sponsorship jobs waiting for us, and we are all in a better visa, which is not even a health and care visa. You can check my 2023 post here to see when I was granted a visa. No one is saying you shouldn't plan, but no plan can guarantee anything. |
